The era of Patterns is finally here. We were waiting for a long long time, for this to happen. Eventually, all of us became ‘pattern’ sensitive. As an addicted person to visual things and especially to patterns, I like to create Illustrations for multipurpose applications. The scale does not matter to me, a small piece of art is still Art.

KAZANTZAKIS MUSEUM

The subject of this project is the product design for the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum [MNK] Gift Shop, in accordance with international design trends and with the policy and the operational framework of the museum shops in Greece. Also, an initial survey was conducted with the theme 'Museums' Gift Shops | International Trends and Domestic Stores', which contributed significantly to the theoretical background of the project, as it included analytics for the design of museal products, thus offering broader qualitative characteristics.

The MNK was selected, due to the fact that its museum shop’s product design seems insufficient to cover the needs of the museum, as it faces basic flaws. In the project, the term ‘museum’ and the role of cultural tourism are being analyzed, while the terms ‘museology’, ‘museography’, ‘museum's gift shop’, along with the term ‘user’ and ‘target market’ are defined as keywords. The visual elements are being presented and their application to the objects, which completes the proposal of the design. The conceptual and theoretical axes to create the visual elements, are based on the life and work of Nikos Kazantzakis, while the design direction is defined by the design criteria.

In conclusion, a proposal is set out, as an effort to solve the museum’s store design problem. This design proposal includes the final products, designed for the gift shop of the MNK. The final products are developed in five basic categories of items, namely stationery, office supplies, prints, clothing, houseware and technological equipment. All products are provided with a unified aesthetic design identity, in terms of style, colours and materials.

I observe the realities around me and the global activity, which makes me identify and shape the future trends that rising. As a modern observer, I like to share and promote these Trends Forecasts, concerning illustrations, colour usage, materials and details. 04

The knowledge of the future trends is the most important thing in the game. Nowadays, the Gen Z is taking over the Internet and the fashion is ruled by the urban life. Emerging realities and future mobility, are reaching a point, that the brands need to understand the next generation of customers and connect with them. Seasonal narratives with trend maps, graphic stories and colour visions is a key for that.

This idea has been generated by our passion for Mediterranean food by the need of expats and international students. In addition, the idea behind FiloFilo is to serve as a cultural meeting point, where artists will interact with the public.

‘Filo’ is a type of Greek flaky pastry in very thin sheets, used in baked desserts and appetizers.
