What every kid wishes And what every kid dreams Is to have a White Christmas Like it always has been.

With tinsel and snowflakes And presents galore, Those gifts from the ceiling All the way to the floor.

But today, oh today I have my complaint. And normally I wait Till eleven past eight.

This morning as early As a quarter to three I’ve been sitting here thinking On what happened to me.

This week I went shopping With my mom and dad But we came home with nothing And that made us sad.

We’d been ripping and running Each day store to store To shop for some gifts Like we did once before.

But something so strange And unusually grave Has happened in our nation The home of the brave.

Our economy has flipped flopped And turned upside down. Which means that our money Has suddenly drowned.

I’m talking about businesses, Banks, and boutiques Have all felt the drip Of our sad money leak.

So all of the presents We wanted to buy Must stay in the stores Because the prices are high.

“Can we buy this nice scooter?” I asked my dear dad. “Can’t afford it,” he sighed. “My economy’s bad.”

“What about this new puzzle? It looks fun to fix.” “It used to cost five, But now fifty-six!”

I headed to the ping pongs When I heard my mom screech! “What was once a dollar, Now the price of a beach!

This intense revelation Had lasted all day. “Everything costs too much, We all had to say.

Which brings me to this moment As early dawn breaks, I get this idea Before everyone wakes.

I’ll create my own answer To these holiday fears. Instead of my moans I’ll make Christmas cheer.

It’s called the Christmas Bailout A process, a plan. And it won’t include reindeers Nor a high-priced snowman.

It won’t involve cramming things Under a tree. Certainly not about price-tags Or long shopping sprees.

This plan won’t need baskets And boxes to wrap. It’s not about how much You can fit on your lap.

It’s all about Jesus, And angels and love, The day He came down From Heaven above.

Jesus Christ is my bailout I offer to you. When everything else fails He’s the one that is true.

Let’s take Christmas back From commercialization, Since we’ve swapped peace on earth For shiny decoration.

Instead of us swooning On stock market danger Let’s talk of the night He was born in a manger.

He’s the hope and the comfort And grace for this season. Our savior’s our bailout – Let him be our reason.

Our time is right now To celebrate his birth When our Lord and King Was born on this earth.

I will proclaim this great plan To all who will hear For it’s a smart thing To cut back this year -

And actually take The spotlight off of us, And shine it on The true meaning of Christmas!
