EAST BOSTON While studying the regional and local neighborhoods of Boston, I found significant disconnects within various areas of Boston and East Boston. Most of these “holes” are associated with a lack of activity which has mirrored the available public transp o r t a t i o n a r o u n d t h e a r e a . For my project, I wanted to reactivate and bring various commuity centers to the site as well as connect the Creek to Consititution Beach and lastly continue the visual connection of downtown Boston. While still conforming to the neighborhood context, the idea of the hardscape urban edge is carried through my design. Because our site is vunerable flooding, the use of green landscape is introduced to not only benefit and accomodate for potential floodings but also to connect the green spaces which may develop along the edge of C h e l s e a C r e e k , w h i c h w a s p r e v i o u s l y u s e d f o r i n d u s t r i a l m a c h i n a r y.

For this project I aimed to study how the location of the museum affects the volume of vistors entering the site at its three entrances. From there the study was broken down into the different types of age groups who visited the museum by entrance from 2013. In conclusion, the Museum of Fine Arts is a monument that successfully responds to unique front and back qualities.

Our site is located in Wedding, Berlin, situated between institution centers, a market and various residential buildings. Due to the unique history of the city and government building codes, most residential buildings remain around 4-6 levels without the use of elevators. My library design consists of 4 levels excluding the main ground level. Mezzanines are incorporated to create reading spaces for the variety of different users (individual spaces, small groups, and large groups). Long narrow window openings alternate along the faรงade to provide light and air into the building. Double heighted ceilings are designed for the large reading spaces with a full glass facade, providing sunlight as well as views in and out of the building.
