How to prepare for your session

Page 1

Thank you for booking your session with Marina Birch Photography, we look forward to working with you Here are some Important details and information about your session How to prepare for your session For those involved in head shots Please make sure clothing is clean; including removing any pet hair, particularly from around shoulders & chest area of clothing If you are unsure about what to wear to the session please feel comfortable to bring a second outfit /jacket or accessories for a second opinion For a corporate look the recommended attire includes shirts with collars, a Tie, Jacket (bare shoulders look out of place for corporate images). Your place of work may have a uniform or dress code, if this is the case go with what they suggest Hair; please go to extra care to make sure the hair is in place and tidy – feel welcome to bring a comb or brush, hairspray, extra clips, for touch ups. If you use a colour treatment in your hair please make sure that is updated before the session; as regrowth is very time consuming to touch up (and may need to be charged according to time spent editing) Ideally a visit to the hairdresser or barber in the days leading up to your session is a good idea Avoid hats if at all possible both before the session and during, as if worn before the session it will lead to hat hair, and if worn during the session it will hide half of your face and may lead to lighting issues if it has a brim Make up (although not required) should be as you would normally wear it, keeping it fresh and natural is recommended, making sure foundation is rubbed in evenly across the skin- warning on heavy makeup as it does not look good under studio lighting set up for a corporate look, also be careful not to over do the fake tan for the same reason Check your nails, if you are wearing a nail polish colour, please check to make sure that it is still looking good and not chipped or flaking, if its not looking good; consider removing or updating nail polish so that your nails look clean & are manicured, as hands are often shown in the images

Please inform the photographer of any obvious marks such as bruises, cuts, dermatitis, pimples, cold sores, etc. that may need extra attention in editing Think about what you would like to achieve from your session, the look you want to portray to your clients and to the people you work with, and let the photographer know so they can best help you achieve it Let the photographer know if you have background colour preference in advance, or if you prefer more of a natural environment image using the office dÊcor, or garden etc.. For Business Premises and location sessions Please make sure the area’s that you would like included in the photos have been cleaned and tidied up, removal of rubbish and any clutter taken away, basically if you don’t want it in the image then you need to either remove it or talk to the photographer about it so that they can work around it in the best way possible thus eliminating the need for extended editing Certainly not essential but if you want your business premises to feature in the images consider a coat of paint on a wall or two if they are looking outdated to make them feel fresh and clean, also have a look at your signage; does it represent how you want your clients to feel about your business, and ask your self would something new look better for the session Also have a look at landscaping & or shop front as outside shots of your business are usually requested and there could be ways of freshening up the outside of your business not just for the session but also your clients.
