Clipper‟s Hudson Bay Nears Completion

Facelift For First Maritimo Dealer
The world‟s first Maritimo dealership has undergone a name change and a facelift. The dealership, based at the original Maritimo factory at Hope Island in south-east Queensland, has been renamed Ormonde Britton‟s Maritimo Gold Coast, has launched a new Web site and recruited additional staff to strengthen the sales and support team. Justin Thorpe, know to everyone as Spence, has joined the team to focus on new Mustang sales. Justin comes to the team from the Maritimo factory and Kim Britton has also joined the team in a marketing support role and will be involved in helping clients with interior decor decisions on both new and pre-owned boats. Sabre Launch Pad Over The Top For Prostate Cancer
Sabre Motor Yachts new „Launch Pad‟ campaign will see customers who place an order for any model in the Sabre range also receive an iPad 2. The Launch Pad comes preloaded with a massive range of data pertaining to the boat - from the day it was ordered right through to delivery to the owner. Information includes everything from Cummins engine or Zeus pod owners manuals to guidebooks for all of the electronics to spare parts and key items onboard. The actual documents live „in the cloud‟, so they can be updated as required, with access from the Launch Pad. Emarine Australia‟s Jed Elderkin said the Launch Pad would also be preloaded with an extensive range of marine-related applications from weather to tides and available marinas. “ Sabre‟s Launch Pad essentially does away with the large number of hardcopy manuals that are associated with each onboard system and piece of equipment,” Mr Elderkin said. Sabre owners will also be able to upload documents to their boat files when each service is completed to keep track of service intervals and service requirements, and directly report problems or communicate with the service departments at Emarine. “We can then response with a solution to the issue and get it sorted quickly, at the same time creating a digital service log that is accessible via the Launch Pad. Two brothers will attempt an Australian -first by travelling around Australia‟s harsh coastline in a „rubber ducky‟ for more than 9500km to go „over the top‟ to raise funds and awareness to fight the growing incidence of prostate cancer. Beginning in New South Wales (1 August 2011) at the Sydney International Boat Show and finishing nearly two months later in Perth, the Honda Over The Top Expedition involves prostate cancer survivor Peter Jenkins and his brother Phillip. Powered by twin Honda BF225 outboard engines, the custom 8.6m rigid inflatable boat (RIB) will be home for the brothers for eight weeks. The Honda Over The Top Expedition has attracted significant support from the boating and marine community including Honda Australia, Toll Energy Logistics, Bailey Marine Fuels, Jet Torque Marine, Furuno Australia, BLA, Oceanic Trailers, The Hub Marketing Communications and Sandman PR. Maritimo Launches “Platinum Select” Australia‟s premier luxury boat builder, Maritimo, has launched a “Platinum Select” prestige boat sales program. Maritimo Marketing Director Luke Durman said the company was offering a special incentive package for a number of dealer demonstration models throughout Australia. Institute Announces O2G Challenge Pacific Marinelife Institute encourages boat owners to offset 20 percent of their eco footprint in 2011 with the launch of this year‟s Oceans 2 Green Challenge. By using a simple audit boat owners are able to identify what their potential eco footprint is and select different ways to offset their emissions, fish catches, boat wash and snorkeling impacts. Under a scheme to assist communities in the South Pacific Islands and key habitat projects in Australia, Pacific Marinelife Institute offsets the eco footprint by supporting rehabilitation of costal forests, seagrass and mangrove habitats, reefs and fish stocks. The 2011 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show offered some surprises amongst the world and Australian releases on show. Most of the new designs and innovations were either on the water or within the electronics displays in the main pavilions. Mustang revealed its surprise, showcasing the new Mustang 50 in addition to the 32, Horizon Motor Yachts displayed a very modern interior on its new Q70
and Clipper Motor Yachts displayed its new 45 as well as revealing plans for two new models. Seawind released the new interior for its flagship 1250 and Ensign Yachts displayed the new Beneteau First 30. Honda marine gave us a look at the Honwave inflatable boats for the first time here in Australia, and a number of engine manufacturers flew the green flag with new and revised models.

On the water Sanctuary Cove was once again transformed into a boatiesâ€&#x; dream showroom. Well known brands were joined by a number of new local boat builders and new imported brands. Coral Sea Marineâ€&#x;s CS55 showcased what some of smaller Gold Coast boat builders are offering. The new CS55 power catamaran had only just been launched in time for the show and offers a luxurious modern interior with a full beam stateroom across the bow. Emarine displayed the imported Back Cove 30 for the first time in an Australasian boat show alongside the Back Cove 37. With the classic lines of the Maine lobster boats the 30 epitomises Back Coves modern evolution of a time-honoured style.

Another well know international brand on display was Cabo with the Cabo 40 Flybridge Zeus game fisher on display for the first time in Australia. The 40 featured an updated interior and Zeus drive system that is proving to offer increased speed and longer cursing range through better fuel economy. Ensign Powerboats had the Bavaria 38 on display. Bavaria teamed up with BMW to design this powerboat. The 11.8m two cabin vessel offers smaller engines to reduce fuel and maintenance costs, an above deck level bathing area and greater access to the forward deck with walk-around decks. Back with the Australian manufacturers, Riviera launched two models on the world market, the 61 Series II Flybridge and the 53 Enclosed Flybridge. The 53 is the first Riviera in this size bracket to offer an enclosed
Flybridge and the first Riviera flybridge in the 50ft range to offer a full-beam master stateroom with king-size bed and ensuite. Australian sailing yacht craftsmanship was on display as Seawind unveiled a completely new interior layout for its flagship Seawind 1250, complete with new beech timberwork and luxurious leather upholstery. Seawind also launched its Corsair brand with the new C37 Trimaran on display. Both brands on display together for the first time after Seawind purchased Corsair in October 2010. The C37 was on display alongside a Corsair 24ft Dash Trimaran which was recently nominated for the European Boat of the Year. Ensign Yachts released the Beneteau First 30 yacht to the Australian market during the show. The First 30 delivers
the best of both worlds as a cruiser sailboat, which as emphasis on racing but is substantially equipped for comfortable cursing. Collaborations with two respected names in the industry, naval architect Juan Kouyoumdjian and sailor Michel Desjoyeaux, have resulted in this Beneteau model delivering both style and speed. Catalina followed up with two Australian releases of its own, debuting their Catalina 445 and 355. The beautiful teak finishes of both models and sporty design are why these two have won a number of awards. The Catalina 355 won 2011 Cruising World magazine Domestic Boat of the Year award and the Catalina 445 was named Sail Magazineâ€&#x;s Best Boat 2010 and was named Best Full-Size Cruiser by Cruising World 2010.

Off the water, the 2011 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show showcased the best Australia and the rest of the world had to offer in marine electronics, boat trimming products and engines; inside the two pavilions that offered some shelter from the rain that moved over the show venue for the first three days. Inside the main pavilion Flexiteek Oceania was showcasing one such product. Their Flexiteek is now sold in more than 65 countries and is the preferred choice for new decks with a range of boat builders around the globe. The Flexiteek decks are nonskid both in wet and dry conditions, are UV stable and carry a five year warranty. Boat Review - Seawind 1250
Stepping aboard the Seawind 1250 and the first impression you get is the great use of space, with the large cockpit opening up into the saloon through the clever tri-fold doors. With the cockpit such an important part of any yacht, Seawind has always paid particular attention to getting this right. There are port and starboard independent helms, both with steering compasses. The port helm has twin engine throttle controls and engine instrumentation. A new feature, an electric window in front of the port helm gives complete access to the chart plotter located on a rotating arm inside the saloon. The cockpit is enclosed by a Targa roof offering great protection from the elements. Two skylights above the helms provide easy sightings of the rigging and manual and electric winches located beside the helms offer complete solo sailing capabilities from within the cockpit. A true advantage with bluewater passage making a real option for the 1250. Functionality of the cockpit was an important part of the design, with ample seating along the stern rail either side of the stainless steel barbeque. The small tender is swung neatly amidships between the hulls which have good swimmer access to the water with a folding stainless steel ladder on the port side hull. when reversed, become a seat facing the stern seats. There is an icebox under the port helm seat, and storage under the starboard helm seat. A great feature of the Seawinds is the folding tri-doors that have a folding mechanism that allows the doors to retract up into the Targa roof. These fold away doors create an enormous saloon space. But the role of a bluewater passage maker was not lost on the design team, and a timber edged lip will easily keep water in the cockpit from entering the saloon. Inside the saloon a u-shaped dinette and polished timber table is located forward under the panoramic windows that offer 360 views. The dinette has a daybed that is created by moving the single cushioned seat to in front of the lounge adjacent to the navigatorâ€&#x;s desk on the port side. A cocktail cabinet is located under the daybed and to create an even more versatile space, the table lowers to create either a coffee table or double bed. Two forward opening windows allow plenty of cross ventilation. Down the port side stairs and you find the companion way leading to the Owner's cabin, office or the main bathroom. The large panoramic windows running along the entire side give the impression of space when combined with the light colour of the timber floors. The forward Owner's cabin has a queen bed that is set athwartships. Two overhead hatches offer light and ventilation and there is ample storage in the forward bulkhead and underneath the bed. Come aft along the companion way and there is either a book shelf or optional office . The optional compact companionway workstation could easily fit a laptop computer and printer, as well as small charts or opened manuals on its desk top. Under the desk top is a storage compartment that opens from the top. Come aft again past the stairs and
you find the port head/ bathroom that makes good use of the space with a vanity with storage underneath, a sink and toilet plus an enclosed glass shower. Cross the saloon and down the starboard stairs and you enter the galley to the left, or aft guest cabin to the right. The 1250 also has the option of an up galley, but the down galley option allows you to make the most of the vast saloon. Panoramic windows again open this space up and offer those working at the double bowl sink some of the best water views. There is a pull-out 60L freezer, three burner gas cook top and oven, as well as a 130L upright fridge. For the chef in all of us, the Polystone counter surfaces offer plenty of workspace and ample under bench storage and draws. With the choice of one or two above bench cabinets with sliding doors on the inboard side of the galley. The forward starboard guest cabin has queen bed and ensuite with sink, toilet and open shower. While the aft guest cabin has a double bed. Each of the three cabins has carpet coverings on the floors which add a sense of warmth and luxury to these areas. Simulated teak and holly timber floors throughout the saloon, galley, port and starboard companionways, and stairs, as well as the polished timber doors and polished trim along many edges throughout the boat add to the quality of the overall vessel. For those shorter passages there is a 700L freshwater tank, but the option of a desalination unit extends the range between ports of call. Power comes from 2 x 29 hp Yanmar saildrive diesel engines. Fuel capacity is 440 L across two survey approved pressurised tanks. Quality electrical systems and marine grade wiring to high Australian standards is used

throughout the boat and controlled from a high quality DC switch panel located on the port side stair way. LED recessed 12V interior lights are used throughout and LED navigation lights are used externally. Seawind‟s quality includes attention to detail in the rigging and sails. The fully battened mainsail is of a triple stitched construction with fibreglass battens and set on rolling bearing batten cars. All lanyards and reefing lines lead back to the cockpit through quality turning blocks and Spinlock rope clutches. The attention to detail in the Seawind 1250 certainly makes the vessel very
capable of helping an owner for fill their dreams of a bluewater passage along Australia‟s East Coast. And it is certainly more than capable of making the passage into the South Pacific or around the wild coast of Tasmania. But it also has the flexibility to offer a family some truly wonderful weekends away or afternoons on the water. Seawind‟s growing loyal cliental must be testament to the quality of the boats they are producing and the changes to the 1250 can certainly only enhance this sailing brand‟s reputation. The fold -out high gloss teak dinette table will seat four, and comfortably seat six with the addition of two folding chairs, but when not folded out, the table has clever tumbler holders set into the teak base. A large proportion of the cockpit is protected by the hard-top and its over hang, and the addition of protective clears creates a very cosy place to enjoy a meal at night if there is a cool breeze coming off the water, or the weather has turned a little ordinary. A sliding sunroof built into the hard-top allows even more light and air to enter the cockpit when the weather is at its best. Up forward, the enclosed cockpit has a helm on the starboard side and the compact gourmet galley on the port side. Enclosed on three sides by large panoramic windows, the entire cockpit is protected from spray when the boat is at speed. The twin helm seating offers a comfortable driving position with all of the instrumentation and controls laid-out in a simple well
thought out, easy to visualise way. The helm has a leather trimmed sports steering wheel, digital throttle and shift with a trim switch, trim tab controls and tachometer, engine temperature, oil pressure, volt meter and fuel gauge instrumentation. There is also a tilt control for the stern drive, high water alarms and a VHF radio (with folding antenna). Optional helm electronic packages include Lowrance HDS7, HDS8 or HDS10 fishfinder and GPS chartplotters. The compact but very functional galley includes a recessed two-burner gas cooktop, a sink with mixer tap, as well as a fridge and large storage cabinet under the bench top. For added safety and ease of access, the gas bottle for the cooktop is stored under the swim platform sunlounge. Storage abounds in the cockpit. There are two large drawers under the lounge, two underneath at the back of the helm seating and a large storage cabinet in forward of the helm. There

This could certainly be what they meant when they coined the phrase - a „Mustang Momentâ€&#x;. And it is certainly how I would like to start a Sunday morning, if given the chance.

Below the 32 offers a two cabin/one bathroom layout. A companionway leads to the forward master cabin with island double bed, and deep hanging lockers and storage on either side. Standard engine on the Mustang 32 is a Mercruiser 8.2 MAG 380hp petrol engine driving a sterndrive, but options include a Volvo Penta D6 diesel engine rated to 330hp or a Mercruiser QSD diesel rated to 350hp.

Maritimo has released an enclosed flybridge version of the A55 Aegean offering another option for boaters who like the sleek Euro-styling that is as much at home in Australia as it would on the Mediterranean. flybridge where the skipper and guests can cruise the miles away in comfort out of the heat of the summer sun or even the occasional raindrop. This enclosed flybridge version offers the comforts many look for with the type of passage making commonly undertaken in Australia. Meaning this 55 is well suited to venturing north from Sydney to the boating havens of the central New South Wales coast or taking the family on the adventure of a life time into the crystal clear waters of the southern Great Barrier Reef.

Stepping on board, the teak swim platform is one part of the prefect watersports hub to share with family and friends. There is a tuck-away ladder and a large hatch across the outer transom which opens to reveal a space for the stainless steel barbeque and food preparation space as well as a wash down tap. The entire transom lifts on an electric actuator to reveal a cavernous garage for a tender and watersport toys. Up two steps you enter the expansive teak cockpit that forms the second part of the watersports hub and its design features make it prefect for entertaining. The large transom unit includes a fridge on one side and sink with mixer tap on the other, while the lounge running across the length of

the transom will comfortably seat three. Combine this with a table and deck chairs, and you have the prefect location for lunch or dinner for eight. A bar fridge is tucked behind a locker on the port side of the cockpit while, on the starboard side is an icemaker. A hatch in the forward section of the cockpit leads to the head height acoustically insulated engine room with two Cummins QSM11 715mhp turbo diesel engines that help bring the variable deadrise deep V hull out of the water when cruising. Within this well laid out space is a Qnan 17.5KW generator, plenty of room for servicing equipment and performing the daily checks and accessing items such as the fuel filters mounted on the forward bulkhead.
Deep walk-around non-skid side decks with well positioned stainless steel grab rails above the saloon windows and bow rails lead forward to the bow. On the foredeck there is ample space for a circular cushion with room or two to laze and take in some sun while at anchor - European style. On the bow beneath the self stowing stainless steel anchor and electric winch is a divided locker with salt water deck/anchor wash. Back inside the cockpit, black-framed bi-fold doors open to provide wide easy access to the saloon. The galley runs across the entire aft section of the saloon, with four-burner cooktop, microwave, two-door fridge/freezer, a stainless steel sink with mixer tap and a drawer dishwasher on the portside.

The new styling combination of white corain bench tops, high gloss timber cabinetry and richness of rosewood and honey oak veneer Amtico timber flooring creates a stylish functional galley. There is ample storage for everything needed to entertain with cupboards for crockery, and drawers for glass storage, cutlery and cooking implements on both sides of the functional galley. There is a single step up from the galley to the wide carpeted saloon with L-shape leather lounge and high gloss timber dinette table on the port side. The polished timber table folds to increase saloon floor space and an infill lifts out to reveal a concealed bottle storage. Forward of the dinette and lounge below the panoramic windows are cabinets that include a deep chart locker. Opposite the lounge on the starboard side of the

saloon, the entertainment cabinets include specialised bottle and glass storage, and can be optioned to house the latest home theatre systems. On the aft starboard side of the saloon, a timber and stainless steel staircase leads to the expansive airconditioned carpeted flybridge with helm and companion seating forward and a lounge across the aft end of the bridge. This is a great entertaining area for when underway with a folding timber occasional table in front of the aft lounge and a second two-seat lounge on the starboard side. A bar unit is on the port side with a sink and mixer tap and under-bench fridge. To let in the sea breeze or hear the rush of spray off the hull when cruising, you can open the electric sunroof which is concealed behind a shade slide or unzip and roll up the clears above the rail behind the aft lounge.

For the Captain, the helm includes a sports steering wheel, engine controls, engine instrumentation, bow and stern thruster controls, trim tab controls, winch up/down controls, remote spotlight controls, VHF radio and compass as well as the optional navigation aids such as chart plotter and depth sounder/fish finder. The accommodation suite forward includes four separate cabins and two bathrooms. The master stateroom is aft of the companionway stairs and opens to a large full-beam space with port lights on either side and two opening portholes on the starboard side above the athwartships queen double bed. A circular timber polished highlight is in the ceiling along with an array of LED lighting. Two wardrobes with hanging rails and shelves, drawer units and a vanity/make up mirror and downlights are on the portside.

The master stateroom ensuite, on the forward portside of the stateroom includes a Tecma electric fresh flush toilet, vanity unit with corain bench top and glass bowl with mixer tap. There is a large mirror over the vanity as well as a towel rail and robe hook to one side. The separate shower stall has a frameless glass door and the benefit of a well positioned porthole. Opposite the main stateroom doorway at the bottom of the stairs is a single bunk cabin that includes a Miele clothes washer / dryer combo. Forward on the portside is the second bunk cabin that is available either in a single or double configuration. Directly opposite is the second two-way bathroom, which is finished to a similar standard as the master ensuite, and services both the bunk cabins and forward guest stateroom. The forward guest stateroom has an island double berth and a striking bed head feature made of polished wood.
There is a full length hanging locker on the starboard side and drawers underneath the berth. Clever new fold -down shelves are positioned in the timber feature panelling for that early morning coffee and or good book. A round overhead hatch with roller blind is positioned perfectly to allow some star gazing. The Aegean A55 has the modern inclusions and standard features you expect from Maritimo including the luxury of reverse cycle air-conditioning available in all cabins. Combine this with its new styling and you have the prefect venue to entertain at anchor or escape with family or friends. The finishes are both stunning and very practical, meaning more time to enjoy life on the water and less time trying to keep your home away from home in prefect condition. The Aegean A55 would certainly not look out of place in a European harbour, but it is also prefect to explore some of Australiaâ€&#x;s wonders such as Moreton Bay.
