SUMMER 2024
AT THE HELM MARINEMAX LIFESTYLES
Welcome to MarineMax Lifestyles!
Summer is here and a world of exciting adventures on the water awaits us all. As we embark on another season together, I am grateful for the successes, unforgettable moments, and strong bonds of friendship we’ve built within our extended boating family over the years. Your unwavering support has been the cornerstone of our achievements, and we look forward to the opportunity to continue making boating dreams come true in the years to come.
Since our last update, our growth has been remarkable, particularly in the yachting sector. We have embarked on a significant collaboration with Atalanta Golden Yachts, Greece’s leading yacht charter management company. This partnership, facilitated by our Fraser Yachts subsidiary, is set to revolutionize luxury charter experiences worldwide. From Greece to France, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, the Red Sea, the Caribbean, and beyond, we aim to redefine the art of yachting.
We also announced significant expansions within Florida earlier this year. Our most recent addition is Native Marine in Islamorada, founded by Florida Keys natives Tommy, Sarah, and Brett Brashares. As an authorized dealer for Boston Whaler and Mercury Marine, they bring a deep understanding of the local boating lifestyle and community. We’re excited to support their growth as part of the MarineMax family!
In addition to Native Marine, we’ve opened several other notable locations in Florida, including MarineMax West Palm Beach Waterfront, Jupiter, and the new Palm Beach Service Center. With these additions, our store count now reaches 130. We’re proud to be part of these vibrant communities and remain committed to providing top-notch customer service and support throughout.
As we continue to grow, our values remain at the forefront of everything we do, reminding us that community involvement is at the heart
of our mission. Beyond the waters, we recently dedicated our seventh house with Habitat for Humanity, where our team was able to volunteer their time and labor to help build a future home for a deserving family in our local community. We also continue participating in local beach clean-ups, blood drives, and much more. These are just a few ways we love to give back to the communities that have given us so much.
Our teams at MarineMax have been on the move, participating in numerous boat shows and activities, both locally and internationally. From representing some of the best brands in the business at boat shows, to organizing owners’ rendezvous, boating classes, fishing tournaments, customer appreciation days, exclusive Getaways!®, and more, the excitement is palpable at MarineMax. Your feedback is invaluable as we remain focused on enhancing the boating experience for all.
Within the pages of this edition of MarineMax Lifestyles, you’ll find inspiring stories from our boating families, highlights of new products, information on classes and boating safety, updates on MarineMax events, and a showcase of the latest boats and yachts ready for new adventures.
As we head into warmer months, I encourage you to stay safe and continue creating lifelong memories with your loved ones on the water. Thank you for choosing to be a part of the MarineMax family and joining us on this journey to help others fall in love with the boating lifestyle too. We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.

TURNING THE TIDE: GABRIEL ALDANA’S MARINEMAX JOURNEY
The right boat can make all the difference.By Sue Rodman
Gabriel Aldana waited in the MarineMax Orlando showroom and was concerned that he’d made a mistake on his recent boat purchase that just wasn’t for him. But a funny thing happened instead. Not only did Aldana change his mind about boating and how MarineMax was there to help him, but he upgraded his boat to a Sea Ray SDX 250 Outboard.
“MarineMax is a perfect choice if you are new to boating,” said Aldana, a first-generation boat owner. “If you don’t know what you are doing, it can ruin a trip. MarineMax guides you to the best boat for the experience you want and shows you how to really enjoy it.”
The key to Aldana’s turnaround was a two-day MarineMax Getaways!® event to Crystal River with his family: wife Jennary, mother-in-law Ingrid, and children Jahzielle (7) and Jehzekiel (2). Over drinks, dinners, and scalloping with the other guests, the family swapped boating tips, as well as stories of memories made on the water. They now have a text chain planning the next group adventure.
The event was transformative.
“The trip was really fun, and it made me realize what I wanted in my boat,” said Aldana. “I also realized MarineMax wasn’t just ‘selling’ me; they understood how I wanted to use the boat and knew the right fit. But I was right too; the Sea Ray SPX 190 Outboard wasn’t my boat—I needed something bigger.”
In the end, sales consultant Dale Hancock with MarineMax Orlando fitted Aldana with a Sea Ray SDX 250 Outboard. “Gabriel wanted to use his boat for entertaining on the ocean. The Sea Ray SDX 250 Outboard is the perfect day boat. The layout encourages socialization with a portside walk through, and the technology makes it a breeze to operate, even for a first-time boat owner,” said Hancock. “In addition, the Mercury V8 Verado 300 on the Sea Ray SDX 250 Outboard offers easy maintenance and is the ideal choice for saltwater use.”
It was the perfect fit.
“I love my new boat,” said Aldana.
“It’s spacious and versatile, and we can entertain 14 people comfortably. We are on it every weekend with family and friends, and it’s even turned into an incentive for my top sales reps. I take them out monthly to Tampa or Miami.”
On any given weekend, you can find the Aldana family anchored near a sandbar, relaxing on the boat, or swimming in the water. Their favorite hangout is near Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County, FL, where the water
is calm, and they see lots of marine life, including dolphins and all different types of fish.
The Sea Ray has a convertible transom seat that slides back and forth to allow more room in the aft or the cockpit. When the kids are swimming, the adults can sit comfortably on the boat and watch, and a four-zone sound system with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi audio streaming means those in the water can hear the music without disrupting conversations in the cockpit. Aft and bow ladders make it quick to get in and out, and adjacent wash downs allow for rinsing off the salt water after swimming and keeping the boat clean.
At first, he found it a bit scary to bring the boat into shallow areas where the girls like to swim, but the large Simrad Multifunction Display (MFD) that includes GPS and a depth finder makes it incredibly easy. “The navigational system on the Sea Ray allows me to take trips that would otherwise be impossible. I feel like an experienced boater,” said Aldana.
In addition to swimming, the girls like to tube too. The Sea Ray makes it easy to store inflatables and pull them out when ready, pumping them up with a conveniently placed 12-volt electrical outlet. And when the sun gets too much, or it starts to rain, the kids can escape to the cabin, which includes a roomy head.
Aldana loves going out with the kids, but his favorite experience is night boating in Miami.
“It’s simply breathtaking to see downtown Miami at night from the water,” he said. “We turn the boat lights on, and we’ll stay out until 2 am. Time just flies.”
For these excursions, the versatility of the Sea Ray SDX 250 Outboard shines. Slide the transom seating back for additional space in the cockpit and switch seating forward or back for maximum comfort. Guests can spill over to the bow, where there is aft and forward-facing seating. Removable (with dedicated storage) tables for hors
d’oeuvres are available for the cockpit and bow as needed.
The bow even has its own cooler, so you don’t have to get up for a cold beverage. LED accent lighting sets the mood and makes it easy to get around without changing the ambiance.
Gabriel Aldana’s MarineMax experience started out rough. “At first, it was like they were speaking a different language, and I didn’t understand,” said Aldana. “But I came to realize they weren’t just selling me—they were experts at matching my needs to the perfect boat. I can’t wait for summer to get back out again.”

Seven Cool Pontoon Boat Features
Check out some of the best pontoon boat innovations seen recently.
By Jeff HemmelPontoons have become wildly popular in recent years. Part of the reason lies in natural evolution. Triple pontoon configurations have provided the stability for larger platforms and more powerful motors. Increasingly plush seating and the latest sound and lighting systems target both cocktail cruisers and boisterous partiers. At least part of the reason for pontoons’ ever-increasing popularity can be found in some very innovative features. Here are seven of our favorites:
FIBERGLASS EXTERIORS
Arguably, the coolest feature of the last decade has been the introduction of fiberglass into a pontoon’s traditional aluminum fencing. Introduced on the awardwinning Harris Crowne and now found across brands including Barletta, Bennington, and Crest Pontoons, fiberglass can take the form of a nearly complete exterior enclosure or bow and aft modules that integrate with aluminum panels in the boat’s midsection. It allows shapes to be more innovative and pontoons to look decidedly more upscale.
DROPPED BOW COCKPIT
A pontoon’s expansive deck is great for both relaxation and socializing, but a bow-heavy crowd can reduce a captain’s visibility forward. Bennington’s Bowrider line breaks from the norm by recessing the forward half of the boat below the regular deck level by placing seats at floor level and dropping the floor into a molded tub positioned inside the boat’s V-shaped center pontoon. That V-shaped center tube also delivers an improved ride, lowering the boat’s center of gravity and sharpening handling. Storage? It’s not lost but relocated behind backrests to port and starboard.
PONTOONS…WITH DEADRISE
Pontoons have long been praised for their stability, but an increasing number of modern buyers want the agility of a pontoon’s V-hulled counterparts. Crest’s CP3+ Performance Package pairs 25” diameter outer pontoons with a larger 26” diameter center pontoon with far more pronounced lifting strakes. Bennington’s Elliptical Sport Package takes a similar route but opts for a 32” elliptically-shaped center pontoon. The result of both is to mimic a V-hull’s deadrise, allowing models to carve aggressively and even display a touch of inside lean in corners. What are the practical benefits of these larger center tubes? Their interior volume adds storage space, allowing for sizable in-floor lockers.
JOYSTICK PILOTING
A pontoon’s shallow draft and saillike exterior can make low-speed handling in tight quarters challenging, especially if the wind is brisk or the current is swift. Enter the modern wonder of joystick control—offered on twin-engine setups like Premier’s SuperSport and now available for single-engine Mercury-powered models like Harris’ Solstice, joystick piloting allows captains to take their hands off the wheel/ throttle in favor of a single, intuitive joystick. Move forward or back, crab sideways, or even rotate the boat on its axis with just a push or twist. Twin-engine designs allow engines to operate independently of each other to achieve the desired result. Mercury’s singleengine system adds a pair of retractable thrusters mounted below the deck.
PET-FRIENDLY AMENITIES
6 5
A pontoon’s ease of boarding and walkable layout makes the boat a great choice for passengers of all ages, but Barletta doesn’t forget our four-legged friends. Pullout food and water bowls at the base of the helm have been a longtime standard. Another pet-inspired feature, however, proves quite useful for the captain. The Doggie DockView, a finely perforated panel featured in both bow and side gates, is nearly invisible from the outside but lets both canines and humans on the interior look out and see the water. It’s welcome when pulling into the dock—and safer when picking up a downed tow-sports enthusiast.
DIVING BOARDS
You may not have expected to see a diving board on your Barletta or Crest’s list of potential options, but trust us, they exist—and they’re ridiculously cool. Made by Lillipad Marine, the innovative design won’t rock the boat thanks to urethane springs that provide the bounce without requiring the board—in this case, an aircraft-grade aluminum platform—to flex. The tension can be adjusted, providing the right bounce for divers up to 250 pounds. Fold the board vertically when not in use, or easily remove the assembly to clear the deck.
TWO-STORY ‘TOONS
7
Pontoons have long been dubbed “party barges,” but Bennington, Crest, and Premier take the concept to a new level, figuratively and literally, with upper-level deck platforms. At 33’ 5”, Premier’s Escalante is already one of the longest pontoons on the market, with massive couches forward, a midship “pub booth” that converts to a bed, an aft galley featuring a sink and refrigerator, and hardsided changing room with built-in sink and portable toilet. The real fun, however, waits up the curved staircase that ascends to the upper deck. There, you’ll find these two-story ‘toons most thrilling asset—a waterslide. Cowabunga!

Striped Bass: The Quintessential Gamefish
Get to know the striped bass—it will have you hooked!
By William KorteIf one was asked to create the perfect gamefish, what would be its characteristics? Many would say size, a fierce fight, and excellent table fare. Some might list sustainability and accessibility. Still, to others, it may be aesthetics and overall mystique. If you’re targeting the striped bass, you’re in luck— it’s all this and more.
THE FISH MADE FOR YOU AND ME
Whether you’re a hardcore tournament angler or new to the sport, everyone remembers their first fish, and for many people, the striped bass, a.k.a. “striper” or “rockfish,” was it. These feisty fish can be found from sea to shining sea and beyond as they range from the Saint Lawrence River in Canada to the Saint John’s River in Florida, as well as the Gulf Coast of Florida to Louisiana, and even on the West Coast from Mexico to British Columbia. There are even stocks of stripers landlocked in lakes and ponds throughout America’s heartland. Whether you’re planning on taking a boat to your local bay or just fishing off a beachside pier, there is perhaps no more accessible fish than the striped bass.
STRIPER TACTICS:
CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE
To some, fishing may be a tedious proposition; however, those who pursue the striped bass don’t share this outlook since striped bass are extremely voracious feeders that can be fished for in basically every way there is to catch one. If you hook one of these guys, even a small one, there’s no question that there is a striper at the end of your line. From manic blowups on topwater plugs and flies to absolutely crushing bait or lures in the surf or on a reef—there are many ways to target this species. They can even be caught in freshwater river systems, lakes, or ponds with bass tackle!
THE STRIPED BASS AT LARGE
Striped bass, scientifically known as Morone saxatilis, are easily identified by their long, silver, streamlined bodies with olive-green/bluish-gray backs and black horizontal stripes that run the length of their bodies. They can range in size from under 10 pounds to over 50, with the current International Gamefish Association all-tackle record tipping the scales at 81 pounds, 14 ounces. However, specimens typically fall in the 10–20-pound range.
What is more important than their dazzling looks is what they mean to a large part of this country. There’s a reason that the striped bass is the state fish of six different states. In many ways, the striper is more than a fish—it’s a way of life. Take a trip to the northeast, and you’ll likely see one hanging on the wall or on the menu of any restaurant you walk into, and from an economic standpoint, their impact is huge. For example, a 2019 study commissioned by the McGraw Center for Conservation Leadership on striped bass from Maine to North Carolina found that the recreational striped bass fishery has a whopping $7.7 billion impact on GDP and supports 104,876 jobs. When one considers their impact beyond these mid-Atlantic states and factors in commercial fishing, the significance of the species becomes self-evident.
CONSERVATION
These fish have faced their fair share of adversity. Through habitat degradation, mostly in the form of water quality issues and overharvesting, the number of striped bass on the Eastern Seaboard had taken a major hit. In response, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration instituted the Atlantic Striped Bass Conservation Act in 1984. This act is “intended to support and encourage the development, implementation, and enforcement of effective interstate action for the conservation and management of the Atlantic striped bass.”
In the private sector, many conservation groups like Stripers Forever, the Striped Bass Conservation Coalition, and others were born with the goal of saving this great fish as well. MORE THAN A FEELING
What started as a family vacation turned into something so much more.
By Liz PaschPaul Gordon has been around boats most of his life—first introduced to him by his dad, who would take him offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Years later, after getting married, his in-laws bought property in Orange Beach, Alabama, where they were frequent guests on a friend’s Viking Sport Fisherman. In addition to powerboats, Paul and his wife Julie have also been on sailboat charters in the Florida Keys. But it wasn’t until a friend and his family returned from living aboard a 40’ monohull sailboat for three years that Paul determined he was more inclined toward powerboats than sail.
“I’d rather get on the boat, hit a switch, and go,” says the Auburn, Alabama-based commercial construction company owner. Paul and Julie had seen and been aboard power catamarans at boat shows and learned they could charter one through MarineMax Vacations and became more familiar with the difference between a single hull and a multihull vessel. In the spring of 2022, the Gordons chartered a 44’ Aquila Power Catamaran in the British Virgin Islands.
“I absolutely fell in love with the Aquila in the B.V.I.,” says Paul, who had been to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, but it was their first time in
the British Virgin Islands. Each of their two children (ages 16 and 19 at the time) was allowed to bring a friend on the charter, and Paul involved all the teenagers in the boat operation as his dad did with him. Spending an entire week on the boat also enabled Paul to fully examine every nook and cranny of the Aquila.
“With me being in construction, caulk lines and sealant lines on the joints of the boat are very important,” he explains. “I love the lines of the Aquila. There’s a lot of thought in the function of the boat in addition to comfort. With so many other boats, all I see is a maintenance nightmare.”
“It was well above other charter companies. These charter boats are used well and maintained well. Every component is meant to be used and opperated.” – Paul Gordon
Paul was also impressed with the MarineMax Vacations dock crew as he watched them perform maintenance on the individually owned charter vessels. “It was well above what other charter companies do,” said Paul, a selfdescribed maintenance fanatic. “When you go to South Florida, you see all these boats on docks or at homes, and that’s the worst thing for a boat, to just sit and not be used. These charter boats are used well and maintained well. Sure, there’s wear and tear, but that’s handled. Every component is meant to be used and operated.”
Julie was impressed with the MarineMax Vacations charter experience even before it began.
“MarineMax Vacations sent me a very detailed packet that had every information detail I could possibly need. They set me up with the company to rent water toys, gave me contact details to book rooms, hire a water taxi, and the BoatyBall app to reserve mooring balls. All the information was very clear and easy to follow.” Julie also appreciated the ease of provisioning food supplies prior to their arrival.
The Gordons had been considering yacht ownership, but their weeklong MarineMax Vacations charter in the BVI made the decision obvious, and they ordered an Aquila 54 Yacht with a five-stateroom layout within a year. “It makes me very comfortable knowing that my vessel will be maintained well. We ordered fewer options, so there’s less to worry about,” says Paul. The open flybridge will have a glass windshield rather than plastic to better protect during tropical squalls while underway. The flybridge also has a small refrigerator, grill, icemaker, and sink with hot and cold faucets to make it easier to entertain. The Gordons plan to use the boat for two weeks at a time at least three or four times a year and
invite a variety of family and guests for varying lengths of time.
Paul says boating is truly a great experience, but problems can come up. Paul plans to allow his children to use the boat with friends in a few years. “If something does go wrong, MarineMax is right there and can help. They have a nice set-up, and I don’t worry about it at all. The main reason I’m doing this is to get them involved and then pass things down to them.”
The Gordon’s new yacht, Julie Boo II , is scheduled to arrive in time for the 2024 spring charter season, which cannot come soon enough for the boat’s namesake. “I’ve been on many boats, but it’s just a totally different feeling when we’re on our own,” says Julie. “Maybe it’s pride of ownership. Or maybe it’s more about the feeling we’ll get every time we go, that it’s my home and not someone else’s. It’s my happy place.”

2024 WATERSPORTS BOATS BUYER’S GUIDE
MarineMax’s six wake boat brands make it easy to find a model for every preference, need, and budget.
By Alan JonesFor watersport enthusiasts, 2024 delivers new boats guaranteed to create excitement for the coming season. Several recurrent themes include handling enhancements, more luxury, easier ways to set up a wake or surfing wave, and more choices than ever.
MasterCraft’s Mid-Range XT Series Goes Big
For 2024, MasterCraft unveils the XT25, newly designed from the hull up to deliver a highly customizable wakesurf/wakeboard boat that can be upgraded with many features on the top-of-the-line X-Series. This new 25-footer includes an updated SurfStar system with built-in left and right profiles for wakefoiling, the hottest new wake sport. SurfStar uses asymmetrical tabs that eliminate the ‘good side/bad side’ problems created by prop torque. XStar S, X, and XT models now come standard with underwater exhaust, reducing fumes and noise for greater comfort for riders and passengers.
Available features like CoolFeel vinyl allow up to 18 passengers to experience a 30 percent cooler seating experience. The most tedious part of wake sports is the time spent filling and dumping ballast tanks, so MasterCraft created FastFill, which uses highflow pumps to fill tanks at approximately 30 gallons a minute. It’s available on all XT and X models and comes standard on the XStar S. Some additional 2024 bling includes available power board racks that secure boards with the touch of a button.
Nautique’s New Flagship Line Raises the Bar
The big news at Nautique for 2024 is the total redesign of its flagship Paragon models, which include new 23’ and 25’ models. The G23 and G25 feature a new hull configuration with a sharper entry for a better ride in the chop and an eye-catching all-new geometric design on the sides and bow.
One striking feature is there are no board racks on Paragons. Instead, there are board storage areas under the transom loungers that open with the press of a button to reveal vertical racks, making it easy to select your board of choice. The telescoping Flight Control Tower, designed by Roswell Marine exclusively for Nautique, can be lowered with a button to duck under low bridges or provide cover in case of rain.
Also new for 2024 is the Super Air GS24, arguably the most versatile watersport boat on the market. It has a flexible wake profile that can create a huge surf wave or a slalomfriendly ripple, and everything in between, thanks to a hull that responds differently to boat speed and position of the Nautique Configurable Running Surface (NCRS). Ski Assist comes standard and keeps the running attitude at the optimum level, even in turns. A new electronic drive-by-wire steering system gives the driver greater feel and control.
Tigé Reinvents its Upper Tier
From Abilene, Texas, comes a new line of flagship wakesport boats called the Ultré ZX Class. These new 23’ and 25’-plus boats have several new interior features, like the unique double-diamond stitching and FastFlip Co-Captain Chair, complete with a portside display screen that allows the driver to delegate some of the duties to the left seat. They also include standard features like UltréChill, a refrigerated cooler that keeps drinks and snacks cold without ice. The Ultré XL SolidShade is a new type of fabric top on the Alpha E3+ tower that provides up to 85 percent shade while letting light in to avoid that closed-in feeling.
The Ultré Boost and Level-Up Power Platform features an electronically actuated drop-down submergible step for easy reentry after a run or sub-surface lounging. Also included in the Ultré ZX Class is a new audio system, RGB lighting package, and enhanced electric steering.
ATX Surf Boats Make Watersports Easier and More Affordable
Built side-by-side next to the premium boat brand Tigé is ATX Surf Boats, which for 2024 offers three Type S models: the 20, 22, and 24. Despite the less-than-premium price, ATX boats are purpose-built to deliver crisp wakeboard waves and customizable surf waves that drivers can easily dial in, thanks to the ATXperience Control Center’s 7-inch touchscreen. Designed to be simple to use, its GO System controls the TAPS 3T tabs, which utilizes military-grade actuators to deliver 3 tons of downforce to create larger surfing waves.
Supra’s New Compact Model is a Stylish Surf Beast
The new-for-2024 Supra SV from Supra Boats packs the latest technology and ultra-luxurious creature comforts in a more compact package. It punches above its weight with 3,800 pounds of ballast and has a passenger capacity of 15. The SV Series features electronic power assist steering for enhanced maneuverability and new high-output dual stern thrusters, making heading to either side of the dock easy. At the helm’s Vision Control Center, three displays give the driver one-touch control over all the boat’s systems. A newly designed smart wheel gives additional hard button control for on-the-fly changes instead of trying to tap a touchscreen while the boat is in motion. A new feature, called Smart Seat Positioning, automatically adjusts the driver’s seat height based on the boat’s running attitude to ensure excellent visibility at all times.
DropStep makes getting in and out of the water for two and four-legged guests more effortless than ever with an electronically-actuated submersible step.
Spend Less and Experience More with Moomba
Moomba is all about giving more for less, displaying that philosophy with a new 24-footer called the Tykon. With a seating capacity of 18, a standard ballast of 4,500 pounds, and features like the Flow 2.0 Surf System and AutoWake, it’s ready to create an endless wave, easily customizable by the driver at a simplified helm. The standard SmartPlate gives additional wave-shaping capabilities and can help get the boat on plane quickly, even when loaded with ballast. The Tykon can be upgraded to include the Flow 3.0 Surf System, which has twin tabs for shaping and cleaning up the wave’s face for extra push.

Dock & Dine
Indulge in these delicious recipes this summer!
By Charlene Marie DodgeROASTED BEET SALAD appetizer
Olive oil cooking spray
4 medium golden beets, unpeeled
4 medium red beets, unpeeled
¼ cup white balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
¼ cup of quality olive oil
1 cup fresh mint, sliced into thin ribbons,
4 ounces arugula
6 ounces of quality feta cheese
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Generously coat a heavy-rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the beets on the baking sheet and spray them generously. Roast in the center of the oven until wrinkly and tender (a fork should slide through with no resistance) for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.
When the beets are cool enough to handle, peel them (wrap them one at a time in a kitchen towel or wear gloves and gently massage the skin away).
Slice the beets in half lengthwise, place them flat-side down and cut each half lengthwise into three wedges. Keep the beets in separate bowls so the colors don't combine.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the vinegar, mustard, sugar, salt, and pepper. While whisking, stream in the olive oil. Add about a third of the dressing to each of the bowls of beets and toss to coat.
In a separate bowl, toss the mint, arugula, and remaining dressing to combine. Season with salt to taste.
To serve, place the salad mixture on a serving platter or on individual plates, top with the dressed beets and feta cheese, and garnish with mint.
TURKEY AVOCADO WRAPS
entrée
¼ cup low-fat ranch dressing
2 tablespoons chipotle salsa
¼ teaspoon finely grated orange zest
4 8-inch flour tortillas

1 ripe Hass avocado, pitted, peeled, and sliced
2 cups mesclun lettuce or sprigs cilantro
1 ½ cups grated jicama
1 tomato, thinly sliced
2 scallions (white and green parts), thinly sliced Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Combine ranch dressing with salsa and orange zest in a small bowl. Place tortillas on a cutting board and evenly spread dressing, leaving about a 1-inch border over each.
Layer turkey, avocado, lettuce, jicama, tomato, and scallions, leaving a border over each tortilla. Season with salt and pepper. Roll up into a pinwheel log. Cut in half and serve.
ELDERFLOWER-CHAMPAGNE cocktail
1 bottle of chilled brut rosé Champagne or dry sparkling wine
2 cans of chilled club soda or sparkling water (such as Pure LaCroix)
1 cup of elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)

GROWING WITH AQUILA
The Miele’s evolution with Aquila Power Catamarans from 36 to 70 feet. Yachting | Aquila Power Catamarans
By Sue RodmanAs soon as Lou and Nicole Miele moved to St. Petersburg, FL, they visited the local MarineMax store, where they fell hard for a new boat brand, Aquila Power Catamarans. Five Aquila boats later, the couple are two of the brand’s biggest fans.
The Aquila 38 Power Catamaran was initially built for MarineMax’s charter division, MarineMax Vacations, in 2012. Today, the brand is considered a market leader in the luxury power catamaran segment, and the Miele’s have been there almost from the beginning.
“Our boating experience has grown with the brand,” said Lou.
The couple initially looked at the Aquila 36 Sport but opted to purchase an Aquila 44 Yacht in 2019, adding the more agile 36 to their fleet soon after. When the 54 Yacht came out, they jumped at the chance to upgrade and purchase Hull #1.
“Sales consultant Nick Pavlakis is super knowledgeable and spent a lot of time with us,” said Lou. “He has since moved on to work in finance for MarineMax, but we cherish our friendship and stay in touch. Gabriel Gonzalez is our new consultant— he’s getting his sea legs, but he has the same service mentality we valued with Nick.”
Gabriel helped the couple put a deposit down on the Aquila 47 Molokai fishing boat and a newer Aquila 54 Yacht. But in the end, the Mieles rolled their two existing owned boats (36 Sport & 54 Yacht) and three pending deposits into the new Aquila 70 Luxury Power Catamaran.
“Our boating experience has grown with the brand.”
– Lou Miele
Over the years, the biggest change the couple has seen is the way the yachts are delivered.
“It’s more personalized,” said Lou. “Aquila has a two-person team to handle the transfer. Like our sales consultants at MarineMax, we’re developing a relationship with our Aquila reps, James and Gareth. Their professionalism, knowledge, and willingness to go above and beyond brings us immense peace of mind as we embark on our new adventure with Aquila.”
One of the main reasons the couple chose the Aquila 70 Luxury, beyond just the extra space, was most of the upgrades they planned to make on their new Aquila 54 Yacht came standard on the Aquila 70 Luxury. Upgrades like Hunter Douglas power blinds throughout and Tibetan bamboo silk SETI carpet in each of the staterooms.
Nicole likes to cook, and the Aquila 70 Luxury’s galley is similar to a high-end kitchen. The space features a full-sized bar with three stools and Gaggenau appliances, including two refrigerators/freezers, an oven, a built-in cappuccino machine, a wine cooler, and a dishwasher. The yacht also has a dedicated laundry room with a Miele washer and dryer.
“People often ask us if we are part of the Miele appliance family. We are not, but I love to say, I have a Miele dishwasher, and his name is Lou,” joked Nicole.
The Miele’s like to entertain and appreciate the European design throughout the yacht, which gives it a modern yet comfortable feel. The Aquila 70 Luxury’s salon and dining areas feature free-standing Italian furniture from Natuzzi. The stylish
system is made of different elements that can be combined in various configurations for a dynamic living area. The Saturno dining table is both beautiful and practical, with scratch-resistant acid-etched tempered glass set over a solid European oak frame.
“Having real furniture vs. built-ins makes it feel more elegant, more like a yacht,” said Nicole.
One of the features the Miele’s can’t live without is the exceptional storage aboard the Aquila 70 Luxury. “All the contents from our 54 Yacht virtually disappeared on the 70 Luxury, and we still have lots of storage,” mused Lou. “The bow lockers are so large, you can store a standup paddleboard in them!”
The exceptional power and maneuverability of the Aquila 70 Luxury is another high point. The yacht comes with Volvo Penta inboard engines and hydraulic bow thrusters instead of electric bow thrusters. There are also joystick controls on both the starboard and port side.
“We had a Dockmate system on our other Aquila, but you don’t need it on the Aquila 70 Luxury because you have two remote helm stations,” said Lou.
In addition to a well-designed and appointed helm, their captain can manage the boat’s systems directly from his quarters. Cameras throughout the boat make it easy for Captain Chris Hoegstrom to keep an eye on everything, as well as shut things down.
The Miele’s maiden voyage on the Aquila 70 Luxury was to The Bahamas to register the boat, but they want to return and properly explore. They feel more comfortable taking the Aquila 70 Luxury farther away.
On the agenda is fishing, snorkeling the reefs, and swimming with pigs. The couple also wants to explore the culinary scene in The Bahamas. They’ll likely bring one or more of their four children or other friends and family. There’s room for everyone on the Aquila 70 Luxury.
Is this the final boat for the Miele’s?
“We are always interested to see what they come up with next,” said Lou. Click below to learn more about Aquila Power Catamarans.
Bigger Boat BIGGER FAMILY,
Antonio and Matty Rodriguez rekindled their passion for boating and are sharing the love with their kids.
By Sue RodmanWhen he was 13 years old, Antonio Rodriguez’s family moved to Canberra, Australia, after his dad became the Venezuelan ambassador there. “Although my family never owned a boat,” explained Antonio, “we always had friends who did. And being friends with kids my age who could take boats out by themselves left quite an impression on me.”
Antonio’s wife, Matty, grew up in Venezuela, and her family always owned small runabouts and were out on Lake Valencia with family and friends almost every weekend. But after getting married and moving to the United States, the Rodríguezes’ passion for the water took
a backseat as they became immersed in their respective careers.
“Two and a half years ago, my wife and I decided because we live in Boca Raton, Florida, we should take advantage of the wonderful waterways here and get back into boating,” said Antonio. “We also wanted to share our love of the water with our kids, Agustina, now five, and Alana, who is three years old.”
So, they went to MarineMax in Palm Beach Gardens and talked to sales consultant Scott Warnike. “I told Scott although I’d had some boating experience, I’d never owned one. So, after asking us some other questions, he showed us a nearly-new Sea Ray SLX 250 loaded with extra features and only
had 40 hours on it. He was friendly and personal, and I liked that he prioritized our needs instead of trying to sell us a bigger boat.”
The Rodriguez family not only loved the boat but also the boating lifestyle. They went out almost every weekend and put 120 hours on it during their first year of ownership. “But when our son, Diego, was born,” said Antonio, “we started thinking about getting a bigger boat. Although the Sea Ray was a beautiful boat, it didn’t have the protection from the elements we wanted, so we called Scott and told him we wanted to upgrade to a boat with a cabin.”
Warnike showed them a Cruisers Yachts 34 GLS Outboard, and it was love at first sight. “We saw its gray hull and striking orange/tan upholstery and thought it was stunning,” said Antonio. “So, Matty and I, our three kids, motherin-law, and cousin took it for a sea trial, and everyone loved it. It handles really well, and the twin Mercury 300 outboards give it plenty of power. The joystick docking for outboards feature reassured me that this wasn’t too much boat to handle. For us, it was a no-brainer. It’s aggressive-looking but family-friendly, with a huge amount of open deck space. It also has a compact, air-conditioned cabin, which the kids love,” said Antionio. They also appreciated features like
the extended, electronically-actuated sun shade, aft-facing lounger, and entertainment features like the grill and twin refrigerators. “The 34 GLS is amazing and has everything a family of five needs,” said Matty.
Their first outing on the new boat was a short MarineMax Day aways! trip to Peanut Island in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and they appreciated the camaraderie of spending time with other boaters and swimming in the shallow waters. But it wasn’t long before they started getting more adventuresome.
“For our first long trip, we took it from Boca down to Key West and spent a fabulous two weeks there cruising to different sandbars and Keys,” said
Antonio. “We took the plunge in late September and headed to Bimini in The Bahamas. A bit of wind created big swells, so we went slowly, and the boat inspired a lot of confidence with how it handled the conditions. We felt very safe. It took us about three and a half hours to get to Bimini, but only about half that time to get home.”
The Rodríguezes have an ambitious bucket list of trips they’d like to take. “This year, we want to go to the West Coast of Florida to Panama City in the Panhandle. Then, we want to go to The Bahamas again to farther islands like the Abacos. On the East Coast, they’d love to go to Savannah, where Matty used to go to school, and maybe continue to North
Carolina. “The opportunity to own a boat like this has given our family the ability to have many memorable adventures,” said Matty.
The Rodriguez family often heads to places like Lake Boca on Friday afternoons. “I founded a mortgage lending company four years ago,” said Antonio, “and my wife has a restaurant in Wellington and is opening another location, so we both work long hours and stay busy. Getting out on the boat is an incredible stress reliever. If I have work to finish, I’ll take my computer, set up a hotspot, and work from my floating office while the rest of the family swims. But most of the time, getting out on the water means disconnecting from the stress of
work, even if it’s only for a few hours.”
One of the most significant benefits of having the 34 GLS is the ability for the Rodríguezes to invite more friends and family to go out with them. “We call our friends and relatives in Miami and say we are taking the boat out, and it’s amazing how often we see them now. It helps us stay connected. As the kids get older, we believe boating will help us spend more time with them.”

SPEED CRUISER
Bring a cruiser to a poker run? Speed aficionado Mike Ciasulli proves the Galeon 375 GTO is up to the challenge.
By Jeff Hemmel“I can’t say enough good things about Galeon, MarineMax, and the entire purchasing process.”
~Mike CiasulliYachting
Much like the character of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in “Top Gun,” Mike Ciasulli feels the need—that unmistakable, often unquenchable need for speed.
It began in his teens when the now 65-year-old owner of New Jersey’s Maxon Auto Group satiated that desire by racing motorcycles. Later, cars became Ciasulli’s passion. He didn’t just dabble; highlights include a victory at the infamous 24 Hours
of Daytona. Ultimately, however, speedboats became his vehicle of choice. “Boating has been a great extension of my desire to continue to participate in performance events,” explained Ciasulli, who, over the years, has participated in numerous poker runs aboard a virtual who’s who of go-fast royalty. He fondly recalls tearing across the water at 177 mph in his prized 388 Skater. His current 39’ MTI runs 135 mph
So why did this boating maverick show up to the recent Key West Offshore Poker Run in a seemingly out-of-character Galeon 375 GTO cruiser? Turns out even diehard performance enthusiasts appreciate a little comfort now and then. Ciasulli first began talking about Galeon Yachts with MarineMax Naples salesman James Corts. He later checked the boat out at the Miami Interntional Boat Show and visited the Galeon production facilities in Wiślina and Straszyn, Poland, where he was very impressed with the production, the vertically integrated manufacturing process, and the Polish culture. When his vessel was finally ready in mid-September, Ciasulli weighed his options—deliver to New Jersey, where the season was ending, or hop
aboard in Florida for a shakedown cruise at one of Mike’s favorite poker runs, put on by Stu Jones and the Florida Powerboat Club. Running a poker run in a cruiser may have been a first for Ciasulli, but he’s no stranger to the category. Two boats typically sit on the dock of his summer home on the Jersey Shore, one for speed and one for pleasure. Recently, that pairing included the MTI and a Regal 42 FXO. But as much as he enjoyed the latter, for a guy with race fuel running through his veins, it wasn’t the perfect fit. “It was a great boat, but it was more of a cabin cruiser. An overnight bedroom boat as opposed to a day cruiser, which is what I was really looking for. So, I started looking and landed on the Galeon,” said Mike.
For Ciasulli, the 375 GTO checked all the right boxes. It had style and creature comforts that he, his wife Elaina, and 15-year-old twins Ashley and Brianna could all appreciate, like a roomy open bow, spacious cabin with twin berths, and cool expandable decks Galeon dubs “Beach Mode”. It could also accommodate friends like the three couples Mike and Elaina brought along to Key West. Perhaps best of all, when he slammed the throttles forward, twin Mercury 600 Verados gave the boat more than a touch of a go-fast performance rush, accelerating hard out of the hole and cruising at a brisk 50 miles per hour.
“Normally, I would take the MTI to a poker run,” Mike explained, “but I talked to my wife and my friends and said, ‘why don’t we do this a little different? How about we take the Galeon?’” Ciasulli even made custom Galeon shirts for the crew. “The boat was very popular—everyone wanted to see it. And it was a nice change from going down at 90-100 miles an hour.”
It helped, of course, that the 375 GTO could keep pace. “Even though the rest of the group is going 70, 80, even 100 miles per hour, we could still reasonably keep up. You have the performance of a very fast cruiser, but you have comfort. Center consoles have no place to get out of the sun, but with the Galeon, there’s a whole area where you can stay protected. In my opinion, it’s a much more comfortable and practical way of boating. We had the music going, and it was really nice. With the boat’s 400-gallon capacity, we were also able to skip the fuel stop and go nonstop.”
As to his experience with MarineMax, the lifelong car dealer offered an interesting perspective on the leading boat dealer. “I like the size of the dealer network. I can service the boat in Florida and New Jersey—it’s kind of a one-stop shop. And JC (salesman James Corts) was there every step of the way. He wasn’t just interested in selling the boat—he really wanted to make sure it was the right boat for me. He was very good about spending the time with me to make sure the boat met all of my needs and expectations.” Galeon brand manager Bob Burke was also instrumental in the purchase.
“I can’t say enough good things about Galeon, MarineMax, and the entire purchasing process.”

owners’ desires and needs, with these three new models, Azimut once again showcases its commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and unparalleled luxury. Let’s delve into the unique features that make these yachts stand out on the open seas.
MAGELLANO 60, A CROSSOVER WITH TIMELESS DESIGN THAT REVEALS CONTEMPORARY ACCENTS
The new Magellano 60 by Azimut is the only 60-foot crossover on the market to offer such large spaces without compromising the elegance of the exterior lines designed by Ken Freivokh, who brings together the world of sailing and the more complex world of motor yachts.
This yacht is a crossover characterized by generous onboard spaces that never compromise the elegance of her lines. She features a contemporary design enhanced at the stern, where the Magellano 60 proposes an irresistible transformation from the cockpit to the terrace for the first time on a boat of this size. It’s a manifestation of Azimut’s drive for greater contact with nature—answering the desires of Magellano owners, who love long stays on board and taking to the sea in search of new frontiers and landscapes for the few.
Conceived as a natural extension of the large lounge on the main deck, the cockpit becomes an “Infinity Terrace” overlooking the water without barriers, thanks to a transparent glass parapet. This area is the true heart of life on board, a welcoming, reserved, romantic, and fun space throughout the day. Aspiring to versatility, it’s transformable from the lounge area to outdoor dining with a table, and it is complemented with an American bar, a perfect apéritif spot at sunset.
Exploring new frontiers and getting to know places of pristine nature and crystal-clear water also means trying to reduce emissions. For this reason, the Azimut|Benetti Group R&D office brings the high-efficiency semi-planing Dual
Mode hull to the Magellano 60, designed to optimize fuel consumption and emissions, especially at low and medium speeds. This commitment to respect the environment led the Magellano 60 to be chosen for the first voyages powered by HVOlution, the biofuel produced by Eni Sustainable Mobility with 100% renewable raw materials.* The tests carried out by Azimut in the summer of 2023 recorded satisfactory results in terms of compatibility and performance. Furthermore, the combined effect of the Dual Mode hull and biofuel has made it possible to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions well-towake exceeding -80% compared to a yacht of a similar size powered by fossil fuel, confirming the effectiveness of the path charted by Azimut.
* Pursuant to the Directive UE 2018/2001 “REDII”

NEW FLY 72, A YACHT WITH A SPORTY YET REFINED SOUL
The new Fly 72 features exteriors by Alberto Mancini and interiors by architect and designer Fabio Fantolino, making his debut in yacht design. Fantolino’s concept for the new Fly 72 reflects a desire to give this model a modern and elegant look. The style of the interior spaces spans from the exclusive atmosphere of the yachting world to the sophistication of contemporary design. These two worlds meet in the design of the Fly 72, conjuring up images inspired by 20th-century Italian design masters and revisiting iconic motifs to define a unique style. This transversal design approach is also seen in the choice of materials and shapes, featuring wood accompanied by precious materials like bronze and high-gloss lacquer, paired with attributes that are both linear and soft.
The exterior design of the new Fly 72 is by Alberto Mancini, whose work builds on the sporty DNA that has driven the evolution of Azimut yacht design. With the Fly 72, Mancini’s stylistic idiom introduces new clean lines that further point up the sculptural tension running through the design of the series.

VERVE 48, THE NEW OUTBOARD FOR ADRENALINE ENTHUSIASTS
From the Verve series, targeted to adrenaline enthusiasts, the new Verve 48 is a sporty and luxurious weekender model presenting interesting developments designed by Azimut in collaboration with Francesco Struglia, who redesigned the interior and exterior. The stern area is completely new—larger and integrated with two ladders to get into the water easily. On the left, and in continuity, a swim platform of unprecedented width opens up. These two elements form a single, extended platform on the water, offering the possibility to experience the sea in freedom and get closer to nature.
The powerful and agile soul of the Verve 48 is unleashed by the three 600hp Mercury V12s, which allow it to reach up to 50 knots and cruise efficiently, with fuel consumption reduced by 15%. Noise is also reduced by up to 10 decibels compared to the previous Verve 47 and is appreciated from the first moment you get on board when you can barely hear the engines start.
On the one hand, a sporty and gritty soul; on the other, welcoming and convivial: thanks to the geometry and optimization of spaces, the layout of the Verve 48’s cockpit allows a fun or more relaxed experience depending on the moment. Another distinctive feature of Verve 48 is the new slender hardtop that is also available with a tempered glass insert, which, in addition to lightening the structure of the hardtop, lets in light and air even at anchor.
Whether you’re an experienced yachtsman or a newcomer to the world of luxury cruising, Azimut’s latest offerings are sure to amaze and inspire a new generation of maritime enthusiasts.

Relentless Caring: An Inside Look
MarineMax founder Bill McGill’s new book reveals how delivering kindness is not only the right thing to do, but the key to business success.
By Jeff HemmelAn interesting quotation leads off the first chapter of William (Bill) McGill’s recently released book Relentless Caring. In many ways, it sets the stage for the following chapters, which are more of a manual for success than an autobiography. Dubbed an early lesson from life on the farm, it simply reads, “When your neighbor’s tractor gets stuck in the ditch, better stop to help him because the next tractor that gets stuck likely will be yours.”
It’s an appropriate passage for the boy who grew up on a Tennessee farm and later the man who ultimately grew St. Petersburg’s Gulfwind Marine into MarineMax, the world’s largest lifestyle retailer of recreational boats and yachts. The lesson? If you care about others, they’ll care about you. It’s been the key to not only McGill’s personal success but, more importantly, the success of MarineMax team members and a multitude of satisfied “consumers”—strike that—Bill would choose the word “family” there. This passage also explains why, at 80 years old, he fought the idea of making the book an ego-boosting pat on the back but instead more of a guide, a way to share this successful philosophy with others.
“I did not want this book to be about Bill McGill,” he insists, “I wanted it to be something our team and others could learn from and embrace. One thing I’ve told our team over and over is surround yourself with the right people and let them know you care. That’s the biggest thing you can do. If you do that, they’ll jump off a cliff for you,” says McGill
As the title suggests, it’s what Bill refers to as “relentless caring.” As a business leader, if you care about your people, they’ll care about their fellow team members and, ultimately, about the customer. And the results will follow. “It’s a pretty simple way to do things,” he continues,” but a lot of people talk about caring about people but, at the end of the day, don’t show it. We really do care,” says McGill.
Examples of caring are evident in both the book and McGill’s everyday encounters. See him walk through Team Support (what most businesses would call a headquarters), and he regularly greets team members by name, asks about their families, and they will, in turn, ask about his. It’s a culture that stretches to MarineMax’s extended family—the consumer. “It’s the little extra steps that make the big difference,” says McGill. “It’s the customer that’s having a problem, and the salesman says, ‘I’ll meet you at your house tonight and let’s look at it; or, ‘I’ll send out a tech on a Sunday afternoon; or, we’ll get someone to come out and detail your boat unexpectedly,’ even though you didn’t ask. In today’s world, caring is what makes the difference,” McGill explains.
Chapter Two, “Kindness Comes First, Profits Follow,” is filled with examples of Bill’s cultural philosophy, like when he first partnered with his uncle to open Gulfwind Marine in St. Petersburg, Florida. At the time, the OPEC Oil Embargo resulted in tightly rationed fuel supplies on the road, but not for marine use. The pair offered to share their
gasoline supply with customers, knowing they needed transportation to provide for their families. Nothing was expected in return, but the kindness was paid back many times with repeat business and referral customers. An equally poignant example is in a sentence McGill repeats twice later in the chapter, “The excitement of a low price or a hot deal is soon forgotten as a result of a bad experience.”
By creating a culture of relentless caring, a team is empowered to exceed customer expectations and create an experience that will ultimately see positive results.
“We don’t always do it right. But I tell our team if a customer has a problem, whether manufacturing caused the problem, the customer caused the problem, or we caused the problem, you run to that problem. You take care of it because that’s the right way to do it, rather than trying to cast blame or point fingers. It’s just caring,” says McGill.
As the book reveals, caring works not only on the farm but in both business and life.
