Design The inspection side may be on the right-hand or lefthand side, viewed in the direction of supply air flow.

Materials Unless otherwise stated, the components are made of galvanized or stainless sheet steel (AISI 304). As an option, every unit section can be delivered made of stainless sheet steel (AISI 316). Get in touch with Fl채kt Woods for further details.

Casing Each wall of the casing consists of a 50 mm thick mineral wool panel sandwiched between two sheet steel panels. The insulation material has been granted type approval and provides good thermal insulation. Its coefficient of heat transmission k is 1.2 W/(m2 째C), and the material also offers good sound attenuation and fire resistance. The casing is very sturdy and, in its standard design, can withstand an internal pressure or vacuum of up to 2500 Pa pressure differential. The maximum permissible air temperatures is +70째C. Quotations for casings suitable for higher temperatures can be submitted on request. Effective sealing strips are supplied for every joint. Moreover, all bottom panels are sealed and the casing is completely smooth on the inside and outside, which makes the unit hygienic and easy to clean.

Design Finned heat exchanger available in two capacity variants to cover the usual range of heating requirements. The heat exchanger consists of tubes and fins. The header tubes are made of copper and the water connections are made of brass. Water connections up to 50 mm (2") have male threads. The heat exchangers are equipped with plugged tappings for drainage and anti-freeze monitor. All sizes can be equipped with a Landis & Gyr type QAE 21.91 anti-freeze monitor. Design Finned heat exchanger. Available in three capacity variants which cover the usual range of cooling requirements. The air cooler is available in two face area sizes with headers inside the casing. The air cooler consists of copper tubes and aluminium alt. copper fins. The header tubes are made of copper and the water connections are made of brass. Water connections have male threads. The heat exchangers are equipped with plugged tappings for drainage. If the air velocity is between 3 and 4 m/s, the air cooler version with droplet eliminator should be selected, in order to avoid condensate entrainment. The droplet eliminator is made of plastic fins in a stainless steel frame. The pressure drop across the droplet eliminator is low. The air cooler is equipped with a sloping stainless steel condensate insulated drain tray. The drain pipe from the drain tray runs through the casing on the inspection side of the unit and ensures reliable condensate drainage. One side of the casing can be removed to enable the finned element to be withdrawn. Design The steam humidifier section is provided with steam lances. A drop tray of stainless steel discharges the condense water into the following cooling coil drain tray. The humidifier section must therefore be placed upstream a cooling coil. Dimensioning of orifice plate for steam The orifice plate for sizes 12 and 18 (two steam pipes) is to be dimensioned for half the air flow. Orifice plate for steam humudifier EMUQ giving a humidification corresponding to 3 grams of steam per kg air. The orifice plate no. refers to the code suffix for the diameter of the opening. Air flow control At higher rates of air flow, it is advisable to use inlet guide vane or frequency control for the EMCB fan. Inlet guide vane control is available for all unit sizes and consists of mechanically interconnected variable pitch guide vanes incorporated into the fan inlet. To ensure good vibration isolation and structure-borne sound insulation, the fan and motor are mounted on a sturdy base frame which is effectively isolated from the casing by means of rubber anti-vibration mountings. The anti-vibration mountings are selected for induced and natural frequencies below 8 Hz. In order to avoid vibrations in the connected ducting or other sections of the unit, the fan outlet is connected to the casing by means of a flexible connection of fire-resistant material. The impeller shaft is mounted in ball bearings located at both inlets. The bearings are permanently lubricated. All bearings are secured to the shaft by means of circlips, ensuring a reliable joint and vibration- free operation.

EMCT Belt drive

Design The belt drive consists of pulleys and one or more belts. The pulleys have a separate hub which allows for quick replacement of the rim if the fan speed should need to be altered.. The belt drives are designed for 50 Hz and 60 Hz motors.

The motor is mounted on slide rails for convenient adjustment of the belt tension. Single-speed or two-speed motors are available as standard. The motor has degree of protection IP 54. To ensure satisfactory cooling of the motor, the ambient temperature of the ventilation air should not exceed 40째C. Motors suitable for higher temperatures are available to special order.

Regoterm EMCR Energy recovery unit Drive unit The drive unit consists of a constant speed motor driving the rotor by means of a belt transmission. Rotor unit The rotor unit consists of the rotor, drive unit, purging sector, bearing mountings and the partitions with seals. Withdrawing the rotor for service requires a clear space at the inspection side corresponding to half the width of the REGOTERM casing. Purging of the rotor passages takes place in the purging sector. Purging minimises the carry-over of exhaust air to the supply air. An effective seal in the gap between the rotor and the casing minimises the leakage between the supply and exhaust air side. Design The energy recovery unit consists of a hygroscopic rotor, and a drive unit. The recovery unit can be installed for: – horizontal air flow – cooling and heat recovery

Rotor The recovery unit operates at a low pressure drop and at high and permanent temperature and moisture efficiencies – up to 85%. The rotor is rigidly mounted to the centre beam, but can be lifted inside the casing to facilitate service and cleaning. The rotor is made of aluminium. A hygroscopic rotor transfers both heat and moisture. The marine version of the rotor is suitable for operation in very hot and humid climates. The rotor: – is supplied with edge-reinforced face surfaces for corrosive environments – is designed for service at temperatures up to +50°C – is always equipped with purging sector – is always hygroscopic – has always constant speed – about 20 r/min. The recovery unit is made of stainless sheet steel. The drive motor is available classified as per Lloyd's Register of Shipping or Det norske Veritas.

Installation

Handling An air conditioning unit is normally delivered as a complete unit, mounted on the base frame EMAZ-14. Integrated lifting tubes EMAZ-06 must be used for lifting the unit.

Water trap EMAZ-01 Units with an air cooler require a min. of 240 mm mounting stand height or recess in deck to accommodate a water trap.

Control system â&#x20AC;&#x201C; ControlMaster STMD

General ControlMaster is a standardised control system for airhandling units with the simplicity of an analogue system but with the potantial brought by a digital system. The control system is available in two different packages: â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Built in to a compact airhandling unit â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Fitted to a modular airhandling unit

Room control Supply air temperature is controlled in cascade with room air temperature. Outdoor air compensation Outdoor air temperature compensation lineally raises or lowers the supply air temperature during cold and warm spells. The compensation is adjusted on the control panel.

Standard functions Temperature Control Supply air control Supply air temperature control with PI controller. Air heater, heat recovery unit and air cooler are controlled in sequence.

Cooling recovery The heat recovery unit is used for cooling if the extract air temperature is lower than the fresh air temperature and cooling is called for. The heat exchanger is driven to maximum output.

Exhaust air control Supply air temperature is controlled in cascade with exhaust air temperature.

Control system – ControlMaster STMD Operation The airhandling unit is normally started by the built in clock. A Off-Local-Remote switch and start/stopp buttons are also provided in the front of the control cabinet. Fresh air and exhaust dampers are normally opened before the fans are started. When the fans are stopped or in the event of a power failure the dampers are closed. Where the unit includes heat recovery, the supply air fan is started after the exhaust air fan. Fans are available with single speed motors, two speed motors with separate windings, two speed motors Dahlander connected or with frequency control. Alarms Alarms are indicated in the front of the control panel and a general alarm output is provided. Filters Filter monitors provide alarms when the filter pressure drop exceed the preset value which is adjustable. Air flow proving Sensor provides a signal for alarm when the air flow rate falls below the set value. Fire and smoke The unit can be fitted with functions to provide protection against the spread of fumes and smoke. As standard the unit is stopped and any smoke dampers are closed. Frost protection A temperature sensor placed in a coil tube. If the lower temperature limit is passed the unit is stopped and an alarm is activated.

Other alarms The unit can be fitted with other external sensors which can be connected as alarms. The rotary heat exchanger is supervised with a rotation switch which gives an alarm if no rotation is detected when start signal has been given. Electrical equipment is delivered as standard for 3x400V 50-60 Hz 4-core but prepared for 5-core. The panel includes the following components as appropiate: – Main contactor, safety switch – Automatic fuses for the control circuits and for electric heaters – Contactors for fans, pumps and electric heater groups – Control circuit transformer, 24V AC – Relays – Motor protection relays with thermal and magnetic switching – Inputs and outputs for external sensors and actuators – Outputs for general external alarms – Control equipment for heaters – Documentation – Drawings and listings Testing Every panel is functionally tested before delivery. Parameters and set-points are also adjusted as far as possible. Standards EN 60 204, electrical equipment for industrial machines EN 60 439-1, electrical equipment for max. 1000V AC. IEC-750, Rules for wiring diagram nomenclature IEC-617-7, Graphic symbols for electrical diagrams. EMC Directive 89/336/EEC Low voltage directive 72/23/EEC Environmental demands of the panel All components in the panel are suitable for use within the range 0-50°C. If lower temperatures can be expected at the panels location then some form of additional heat must be provided.
