Aramid Reinforced New for 2008 are the Aramid Reinforcements, added in highly exposed areas such as the micro batten pockets and the leading edge scuff pads. These reinforcements reduce wear from everyday use and increase the durability and life of your kite.

Load Distribution Panels More powerful kite profile means that the canopy has to carry higher loads resulting in a distorted profile and loss of efficiency. The Load Distribution Panels spread the load from the lines to a wider area keeping the profile smooth and distinct and allowing the kite to perform with maximum efficiency at all times.

Relaunch Bungees In order to make the relaunch easier and to avoid any possible line tangling, weâ&#x20AC;&#x2DC;ve added Relaunch Bungees at the kite tip (Rebel 08, Rhino 08). The bungees keep the lines lying slick against the inside of the leading edge, preventing any line from going over the top of the kite during the relaunch.

Self Rescue Handles These loops attached to the inside of the wingtips make it easier to hold the kite for body drag rescue.

Cam Battens Our revolutionary and patent-pending Cam Battens are made of flexible nylon and improve the stability of the canopy and reduce the drag of the kite. The Cam Battens allow us to achieve a deeper profile and make the kites more powerful. The deeper canopy combined with a round entry profile gives better stall resistance, which yields not only better low end power but also better hang-time. Cam Battens also give the kite much better upwind abilities and very good stability in the sky.

Kook Proof Connectors These connectors prevent the number one cause of kite accidents by ensuring that front lines cannot be attached to the back of the kite and back lines cannot be attached to the front.

Lazy Pump The North Lazy Pump system allows you to inflate the kite through a single valve and get it ready for take off. The Lazy Pump system has safety clips at the tubes that are protected with neoprene sheaths to secure the tubes after inflation and separate the air chambers of the individual struts to the leading edge. The neoprene sheath is simple and effective, just pull it back to open or close the clip. The tubes are secured on the especially developed valves with NKB molded safety rings and can easily be removed by pulling them upwards.

When riding with full power in the F r e e s t y l e mode, the forces on the lines are split into 60 % on the front lines and 40 % on the back lines. Therefore, less steering impulse is needed to make the kite turn quickly. When riding with full power in the N e w S c h o o l mode, the forces on the lines are split into 75 % on the front lines and 25 % on the back lines. This makes the back lines less sensitive, causing less movement while you are throwing an unhooked trick. More steering impulse is required to get the same turning as that of a Vegas in F r e e s t y l e mode.

In F r e e s t y l e mode the tip has a wider surface affected by the rider’s bar input. Therefore, the kite is much more sensitive and reactive in steering. More bar stability means the kite will not “rise up” when you unhook making it easier to throw mind-blowing N e w S c h o o l tricks.

Massive Hangtime and Lift Extremely Powerful Low-End Best Upwind Performance of the Range Highest Stability Improved Attack Control Bridle Crisp Bar Feeling

Designed for jumping, racing and getting out in the lightest wind the 09 Rhino has the biggest low-end, best hang-time and best upwind speed of any kite in the North range. Less extreme sweep and a slightly flatter profile in the center and tips contribute to better highwind stability, less drag in overpowered conditions and smooth, responsive turning. Improved lift makes it easy to get big lofty jumps that are vertical and drag-free. The simplified Attack Control Bridle permits substantial changes in angle of attack (power/de-power) without any undesirable twists in kite geometry which results in a surprisingly crisp and responsive bar feel. Additionally, the AC bridle allows you to fly the Rhino on 5 lines for maximum safety or 4 lines without losing any performance. Although de-power is not as instantaneous when the safety is engaged in 4 line mode, the AC bridle does allow the Rhino to flip onto it’s back and de-power much like a 5th element. In order to keep the Rhino as light as possible, more light rip-stop has been utilized in the canopy as well as our tested and well-proven Snakeskin along the trailing edge.

The Buzz meets all the requirements of beginners. Briskly pulling the bar does not immediately result in a jump over the dunes. When the kite lands on the water or on the ground, relaunch requires no active intervention from the rider. Instead, its auto-relaunch makes it crawl to the edge of the wind window where it waits for a launching impulse from the pilot. Large Dacron surfaces, Kevlar reinforcements and a new strut construction protect the kite in the rough environment of kite schools. The Buzz has a very wide wind range and is able to water relaunch at only a few Beaufort. The “5th Element-like pressureless safety system” continues to be the most important feature of the Solid09. In addition to the regular landing and relaunch option, this system offers perfect safety functions:

Releasing the 5th Element safety line pulls down the kite’s central profile, causing the rest of the kite to collapse backwards. Bar Features 09 Iron Heart II 09 Three years after its introduction to the market, the Iron Heart II still defines the benchmark for safety. The light but solid V2A stainless steel construction is one of the most reliable safety systems on the market. The release forces are very low by less than 4 kg at a load of 200 kg in a dry and sand free environment. Excellent function is ensured even in wet and sandy conditions with under 7 kg release force at 200 kg.

The centrally located Iron Heart II release grip is large and ergonomic for fast and good function. It is very easy to find and can be operated either with the right or left hand. The open design prevents the system from jamming and greatly facilitates reassembling. The previously bare stainless steel edges are now protected by a neoprene cap. The system can be used with chicken loops of various lengths depending on the rider’s height.

Flying Lines The flying lines developed in cooperation with FSE Robline were a complete novelty when they were first introduced on the kite market. After three years of experience and thorough testing by the most demanding kiters, North Kiteboarding schools and teamriders know that they can always rely on these lines. Conventional lines get their stiffness from a coating that is damaged by repeated folding. If a line is folded, the coating (wax) is extruded and the line will always fold in the same spot. To prevent this, we weave a monofill into our lines that restores the original shape (Memory Effect) and ensures that the next time the line bends in a different spot.

If the line is only gently bent, it returns faster to its original shape and it becomes a little stiffer. This technology makes laying out the lines more comfortable and quicker. The increased breaking strength of 270 daN (approximately 270 kg) is an added bonus. While you are on the water you can easily adjust the kiteâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s power. Simply pull on the webbing loop to depower your kite. If you want more power, pull the webbing loop and release line.

The Vario Cleat allows you to adjust the length of the Depower line to suit your preference. Whether you use a seat or a waist harness, whether you have long or short arms, the cleat helps you to find the perfect setup, fast and easy.

Free Sliding Stopper & Stopper Ball The Sliding Stopper and the Stopper Ball permit you to adjust the Depower lines on the water. Particularly in light wind conditions you will be more comfortable if you do not have to constantly hold the weight of the bar. It has two different settings for more and for less traction. To change the settings, all you need to do is turn the ball around. The Sliding Stopper Ball also reduces wear on the Depower lines. Â Cau ti on: since this system is able to reduce the kites maximum depower, it should only be used on the water and at a safe distance from dangerous objects. Why is the 3D Wood Carbon Cap Sandwich construction better? Comfort The strong, fibrous structure of the wood core allow for a thinner core profile and a higher amount of bending compared with a traditional foam core, without the risk of breakage. The result is a board with a greater amount of flex, working as an active suspension while riding, providing a smooth and controlled feeling even through rough water. Responsiveness Thanks to the natural flex characteristics and spring back of the wood core, our new boards have a responsive and lively feel on the water, without sacrificing the comfort. Utilizing the short, wide, compactness of a fish in combination with the drive and grip of a quad has made the Bullet a master of generating blazing speed in smallish surf and tight carves. Strapped or strapless, the Bullet easily takes tight lines in small surf and is easy to bust the tail free and throw buckets of spray! The Freestyle Fish concept is only a year old, yet it has been one of the most talked board in our range. What started as a concept project last year is now a category of its own in 2009. This has only encouraged us to continue pushing and developing the FSF for 2009. This year we’ve used the knowledge and experience of surf shaper Martin Littlewood to give a more “surfy” twist to this concept without losing the ease of use that made the Freestyle Fish so popular in the past. We’ve expanded the range to a bigger version to please the bigger riders and light wind freaks. Multi Adjustable Footstrap

For the new footpad we rolled up our sleeves and created a new mold that eliminates all the weaknesses that were criticized in the past years. The result defines a new level of support, fit and comfort. Particularly, we were able to optimize the hardness grade in the heel and toe area for excellent support. The entire pad is now softer for better shock absorption in hard landings. The footpad plate is still quick and easy to mount, it is screwed onto the board with two screws together with the Multi Adjustable Footstrap 09! All that’s left to do then is to step into this combo and enjoy the ride.

The 2009 Multi Adjustable Foot Strap offers you a wide range of Foot Strap sizes and positions with only one strap. Apart from the size you can also adjust the strap’s asymmetry and width. Once fitted to the width and shape of your foot, the strap can be adjusted in size as usual (with or without booties). The strap’s enhanced construction on the inside increases comfort and provides a good hold in combination with the new 2009 Footpad Plate. A little padding around the chest does not make an impact vest. Only a perfectly fitting vest will reliably protect you when you hit the water surface. We used a double internal Velcro neoprene strap system that can be individually adjusted for a perfect fit. Once adjusted, the vest is easy to put on and take off by opening the strap at the lateral zip. Additional connection straps keep the vest firmly attached to the harness.
