The Legend series of regulators are the culmination of Aqua Lung’s regulator design and manufacturing expertise. When Aqua Lung started the development plans for what would eventually become the Legend regulator series, we set out to make the best breathing regulator we had ever produced. We committed all of the company’s resources and expertise to meet this goal and succeeded. Simply stated, the Legend series are some of the best performing regulators ever introduced to the diving community.

Each new Aqua Lung regulator builds on the inherent qualities of its predecessor while implementing the latest advances in design and materials.

DIN Fitting: The DIN connexion is available on all our models. They can be used with 200 or 300 bar valves.

Air Turbo System The Air Turbo System is a passageway between the port area and the diaphragm chamber. It allows the main diaphragm in the first stage to immediately sense a pressure drop due to inhalation and react faster causing the first stage valve to open sooner. The result is a very responsive regulator that can keep up with the most rigorous demands.

Auto Closure Device (ACD) This system automatically protects your first stage from the environment as soon as it has been disconnected from the cylinder valve. If it is stored without its dust cap the inside of the first stage is protected against corrosion and foreign bodies. However, use of the dust cap is recommended to prevent damage due to impacts. • ACD affords the greatest protection against water entry • ACD affords the greatest protection against contamination ACD is an improved safety measure. It is available in DIN 300B and Yoke 232B versions throughout the LEGEND and KRONOS range.

Diaphragm First Stage Diaphragm mechanisms are time-proven, high-performance designs. By the nature of their design, all moving parts are protected from the environment.The small components reduce internal friction to allow optimal performance. These first stages perform consistently throughout the dive regardless of depth or cylinder pressure.

Over-Balanced Diaphragm First Stage As you descend with an over-balanced first stage, the medium pressure in the hose actually increases at a faster rate than the traditional balanced models. This increased medium pressure compensates for the increased density of your breathing gas at deeper depths.The result is superior breathing regardless of depth.

Comfo-Bite® Mouthpiece (Fig.6) The patented bridge on this mouthpiece fits lightly across the roof of the mouth eliminating the need to clench your teeth.This results in less jaw fatigue and makes diving much more comfortable.

Venturi Adjustment Switch (V.A.S.) (Fig.5) Air circulating in the second stage creates a strong venturi effect that assists you during the inhalation process.The addition of an external venturi adjustment switch allows our engineers to maximize the strength of the venturi for ease of breathing, while allowing you to control it to prevent air from escaping when the unit is out of your mouth, such as on a surface swim.

User Adjustment Knob (Fig.4) This knob allows you to tune the regulator for your personal needs. For example, when the regulator is out of the mouth such as on a surface swim, the knob can be turned in to decrease sensitivity.When diving to greater depths, the knob can be turned out all the way to compensate for the fact that the air is more dense.

Balanced Second Stage (Fig.3) In an unbalanced second stage the valve which controls the flow of air works against a spring. In order to open the valve, the diver’s inhalation force needs to counteract the spring force. In a balanced second stage the intermediate pressure coming from the first stage is used to counterbalance the spring force, substantially reducing the amount of effort required to open the valve.This results in a second stage that is much more responsive to inhalation effort and breathes very smoothly, especially at depth.

Side'X (Fig.2) The patented Side’X deflector of the Kronos ejects the bubbles on just one side, leaving his field of vision clear. This design allows the energy of the exhalation phase to be used to reheat the patented heat exchanger system.

Dual Cam (Fig.1) The unique, patented Dual Cam system gives divers, for the first time, the chance to adjust their regulator for optimal performance in one go. The exclusive cam system lets the diver adjust the injection (venturi knob) and the opening resistance at the same time. The Dual Kam is available on the Kronos series on page 8 and 9.

• Extreme Series – The Extreme series regulator are regulators specially designed for extreme conditions. These regulators are extremely resistant to freezing conditions. They have been tested over the EN 25O standard conditions as under ice diving.

• Calypso series – The Calypso first stage is our new simple piston regulator, it is built up from the famous Calypso series.The new components are compatible with the previous Calypso series.The new internal shapes allowed us some very high breathing performances. It is possible to use it in cold water diving (CE approval).

• The Titan series – The Titan 1st stage is the most popular and is the workhorse of the fleet. Coupled with the LX second stage the Titan LX performance rivals our highest end regulators while maintaining a very attractive price.The Titan is an in-line balanced diaphragm mechanism that is very compact and easy to use.

• The Kronos series - The new Aqua Lung KRONOS is the first regulator to offer divers a combined adjuster for the injection and the opening resistance along with a lateral bubble deflector. This regulator with its distinctive look is already attracting a lot of attention. See detailed presentation on page 8 and 9.

All Aqua Lung regulators meet or exceed the rigorous standards required of regulators sold internationally and particularly in European countries. The rigorous European standard (“CE”) requires that the WOB does not exceed 3 joules/liter at 165 feet. All Aqua Lung regulators have received the CE approval rating.Throughout these pages, you will see examples of breathing curves exhibiting the overall WOB for the various models. When you purchase an Aqua Lung regulator, you are buying it with confidence because of the comprehensive test program to which these regulator designs are subjected.

All Aqua Lung regulators are objectively tested and their gas delivery performance is evaluated using an ANSTI breathing simulator machine. This simulator quantifies inhalation and exhalation effort while subjecting the regulator to variations in depth, supply pressure and water temperatures. The results of these tests, which study exhalation and inhalation effort, are computer analyzed to produce an overall “work of breathing”(WOB) rating. The WOB results are typically plotted as “WOB Curves” as seen below.

• The Legend series – The Legend series is our high end range which boosts the most features and benefits.The Legend 1st stage is a Diaphragm design which utilizes a proprietary overbalanced first stage to achieve unprecedented performance for the most demanding divers. Mistral It is the only 2 stages regulator with a total protection. The mechanisms are protected from the environment. The moving parts are not in contact with the water.

Glacia This regulator includes 3 levels of heat exchangers: the first stage, the hose and the second stage. These patended systems aid cold extraction and increased the freezing resistance.

Characteristics for the extreme conditions The pressure reducers GLACIA and MISTRAL, on pages 20 and 21, are pressure reducers especially designed for the practice of the diving in extreme conditions such as the diving under ice.

Comfo-Bite® Mouthpiece with Lip Shield (Fig. 4) The patented Comfo-Bite mouthpiece with the addition of a lip shield helps protect the diver’s lips from extreme cold.

Heat Exchangers (Fig. 3) on the second stage help the regulator to resist freezing while diving in colder waters. The heat exchanger conducts the temperature of the surrounding water to the valve inside the regulator, virtually eliminating second stage freezing.

Environmental Dry Seal (Fig. 2) that keeps water away from the exposed main spring on the first stage thereby reducing the likelihood of freezing on cold water dives. This feature, which comes standard on cold water models, may be added to other models for divers in harsh environments that have the need to keep silt or pollution out of the main spring chamber.

Found on “Supreme” Models (Fig. 1) Cold water diving requires special training and also requires specialized equipment designed to resist “Freeze-Up”. Most Aqua Lung regulators are available in a “Supreme” version that is adjusted and designed to perform specifically under cold water conditions. These adaptations include :

In EEC countries, the Nitrox/O2 diving is ruled by the EN 144-3 standard – Respiratory protective devices – Gas cylinder valve - Part 3: Outlet Nitrox connections and EN 13949 standard – Respiratory equipment – Open-circuit self contained diving apparatus for use with compressed nitrox and oxygen – Requirements, testing, marking.The maximum depth depends on the percentage of oxygen used in the mixture.

• Aqua Lung offers a separate line of regulators which are designed and manufactured specifically for dedicated use with enriched air above 40% and up to 100% of oxygen.This range meets the requirements of the EN 144-3 and the EN 13949 and has successfully passed the adiabatic compression tests. It has consequently been awarded the CE type certificate. • These regulators with specific connections should be used only with suitable complementary equipment (cylinder valves, cylinders, pressure gauges, etc) designed and prepared for use with oxygen enriched gas or oxygen. • Nitrox/O2 regulator is built to a high standard of cleanliness using EAN/oxygen compatible components and lubricants. • The breathing air used for the mixture should be oxygen-compatible or “hyperfiltered” whereas the condensed hydrocarbons do not exceed 0.1 mg/m3.

The unique, patented Dual Cam system gives divers, for the first time, the chance to adjust their regulator for optimal performance in one go.

The new Aqua Lung KRONOS is the first regulator to offer divers a combined adjuster for the injection and the opening resistance along with a lateral bubble deflector. A diver should be able to enjoy the clearest view possible of the underwater scene when diving. During an exhalation, his view of the underwater marine life and his buddy divers may become obscured by a curtain of bubbles. The patented Side’X deflector of the Kronos ejects the bubbles on just one side, leaving his field of vision clear. The Side’X is located on the hose side of the second stage. A Legend is back The Aqua Lung Mistral is the first modern twin hose regulator to pass the tests for the European Standards EN 250, EN 144-3 and EN 13949. Some divers want to maintain a completely clear field of vision when under water. Photographers, archaeologists, biologists and other specialists will appreciate the Mistral.The exhaust bubbles are released at the diver’s back. This regulator, while at first offering a nostalgic appeal, incorporates all the developments and refinements of a modern regulator and allows today’s diving in complete safety.With its multiple MP and HP ports the diver can connect the full range of peripheral elements: octopus, submersible pressure gauge, BC and dry suit inflators. The Mistral first stage can be supplied with either a 232 bar yoke fitting, a DIN 300 bar fitting or with Nitrox/O2 M26x2 to allow the full range of configuration. Selecting a Buoyancy Compensator: There are many factors to consider when selecting a BC, including your body shape and the type of exposure suit you will be wearing. Most importantly, you should consider the type of diving you will be doing and the activities you may wish to pursue. If you will primarily be traveling to warm water destinations for casual recreational diving, you may be happiest with a more basic and streamlined model that is lightweight and easy to pack for the trip. If you are an avid wreck diver you may prefer a BC that will better support the load of twin tanks with several options for attaching lights, reels, or even pony bottles.

Back Mounted style (Fig. 5) Some divers prefer back mounted design with an air cell that is located entirely on the rear of the jacket, on both sides of the cylinder.This provides a more streamlined effect along the front of the torso, and allows more options for the attachment points of accessories.

SLS – Self-Adjusting Lumbar Support (Fig. 3) If the load of your tanks weighs you down you will appreciate the added support of the SLS system.The SLS system is a Lumbar Support that automatically adjusts it’s position to find the small of your back and transfer the load to your hips.

Traditional Advanced Design Vest (ADV) style (Fig. 4) designed to distribute buoyancy around the diver’s waist, as well as over the back and up the shoulders.The primary advantage of this design is the way in which it can hold the diver upright while resting on the surface, with the neck and chest held comfortably above the water.

TDS – Tri Load Distribution System (Fig. 1 et 2) For beach diving or any other type of diving that requires you to “pack in” your gear on dry land, you will appreciate the patented Tri-Load Distribution System (Fig. 1) which distributes the load of your tank and weights to 3 different points via a Tri-Load distributor and swivel buckles (Fig. 2) to ensure the load is distributed evenly.

ISS – Internal Support Structure BC’s with the ISS system have an internal polymer sheet support structure in the harness of the BC which provides additional support and rigidity to help distribute the load – especially useful when carrying the added weight of twin tanks.

Reflective kit (Fig. 3) The reflective kit is fitted to the SeaQuest jackets at the level of the inflator and the upper dump. • It aids long-distance visibility due to the mirror effect. • The technology used in their manufacture comes from the military and aids location, even at night. • It is a vital safety element.

Air Source (Fig. 5) The Air Source is a combination second stage and BC inflator all in one.The Air Source replaces the traditional octopus second stage thereby eliminating an extra hose. Under normal circumstances use the Air Source as you would any other BC inflator. In buddy breathing conditions the Air Source can be used by the primary diver like a normal second stage.The Air Source can be added to any Sea Quest BC that uses a conventional inflator.

Inflator i3 (Fig. 4) The Sea Quest i3 is an innovative, new inflation system found exclusively in Sea Quest BCs. Its greatest asset is its simplicity and how intuitive it is to use. Move the lever up to go up; push it down to go down. when dumping air from the BC, the i3 opens all of the new Flat EValves at once. Gone are the days of deciding which valve to reach for based upon your orientation in the water.

D-Rings (Fig. 1) Some types of diving may require accessory equipment such as lights, reels, stage bottles, etc. Some BC’s are designed specifically with this type of diving in mind and have a variety of D-Rings in various locations to provide the diver with the greatest number of mounting options. If you have heavy accessories you may want to consider a BC with the ISS (Internal Support Structure) system as this will help distribute the load of those accessories.

Knife Mounting Options (Fig. 2) Some divers prefer to mount their dive knife directly to their BC keeping it handy at all times. Selected BC models also include an option to mount the Deep See Squeeze Lock knive utilizing specially located grommet attachment points.
