What type of sharks will I see?

The are two main species of sharks encountered. Whitetip Reef Sharks and Blacktip Reef Sharks are common in the tropical warm waters of the South Pacific. They can grow to a length of up to 1.8 metres although they can appear 25% larger underwater due to a snorkelling face mask’s optical illusion. Whitetips are the dominant species and are an inquisitive shark not frightened to check you out while Blacktips are by contrast timid and will shy away if they feel threatened.

GENERAL INFORMATION & BOOKING CONDITIONS

• Prices are in Fijian dollars on a per person basis and include Value Added Tax (VAT), currently 15% and are valid for travel until 31 March 2024.

• Child fares are for children aged 5 - 15 years inclusive. Infants under 5 years are complimentary but must be advised at time of booking. Infant meals are additional and are purchased directly from the resort.

• Complimentary Coach transfers are provided for selected day trips from most Nadi, Denarau & Wailoaloa hotels/resorts. Please check with your hotel tour desk to see if a pick up is applicable from your hotel/resort and the coach departure time. Missed coach connections will necessitate customers to make their own arrangements at their own cost to join Day Cruises at Port Denarau.

• Inclusions are as indicated in the brochure and websites at time of travel. If not stated as included then item/s are at customers own cost.

• South Sea Cruises reserves the right to alter prices, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary. All cruises are subject to sea and weather conditions. Should adverse conditions prevent operation, our liability is limited to offering an alternative cruise or appropriate refund no greater than the fare paid. The customer is responsible for their own additional accommodation costs. South Sea Cruises is not responsible for missed flights due to late arrival at airline check-in counter. Please note Wi-Fi onboard is intermittent at certain times due to remote locations we travel to.

• Shark sighting As sharks are wild animals we cannot guarantee sightings however we have a 95% success rate. In the event that you don’t see any sharks we are happy for you to return for a complimentary ‘Ultimate EncountersSnorkel with Sharks’ within 3 days of your original cruise date.

• Weather If poor weather and sea conditions result in the cancellation of the ‘Ultimate Encounters - Snorkel with Sharks’, a substitute snorkelling safari will be provided at Barefoot Kuata Resort.

• Travel insurance is recommended for all bookings. South Sea Cruises shall not be held responsible for any property loss or damage and/or any claim resulting from personal injury or death arising whilst travelling with the company, participating in activities or other company property. This disclaimer applies irrespective of cause.

• Where another company or persons operate the tour, activity, excursion, snorkeling or tender boat South Sea Cruises is acting as a Sales Agents only. Responsibility for the operation and liability for the any mishap lies with those operators solely and not with South Sea Cruises. For this particular tour the snorkeling, water activities, tender boat, and resort experience including lunch are operated by Barefoot Kuata Island Resort.

• Credit Card or International Debit Card payments will incur a 2.5-3% non-refundable administration fee.

• Cancellation fees Within 24 hours 100%. No Show 100%.

• Amendment fees No fees apply to amend to another South Sea Cruises day trip or an alternative date, however, if the trip is subsequently cancelled irrespective of whether travel is outside of the 24hour travel date, a 100% cancellation fee applies.

• Overnight accommodation cancellation fees less that 7 days notice 100%; more than 7 days but less than 14 days notice 50%; more than 14 days but less than 30 days notice 25%.
