Manta Ray Experience

Snorkel and glide alongside the majestic manta ray that frequent the ‘Manta Channel’ in the Naviti region channel between May and October each year.

How it works

Our coach will pick you up from select hotels & resorts in Nadi, Denarau or Wailoaloa and transfer you to Port Denarau where you will board our high-speed catamaran bound for the Yasawa Islands. You’ll cruise through the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands for around 3 hours (each way), disembarking at Mantaray Island Resort at 11.35am and departing again at 2.40pm.

We have worked with the experienced team at Mantaray Island Resort to carefully choose tides that have a higher chance of manta ray coming to feed in the ‘manta channel’. Following a briefing, you will board tender boats and be taken out to have the chance to swim and snorkel amongst the manta ray while they glide throughout this popular feeding ground. Lunch is provided at Mantaray Island Resort before heading back to Port Denarau. Ask our friendly crew onboard about upgrading to the Captains Lounge that includes beverages and snacks.

What if I don’t see the manta ray?

The manta ray are wild creatures and as such are on their own schedule. If they are not in the channel on the day of your trip, you will experience one of Fiji’s most vibrant tropical reefs on a guided snorkelling trip making for an amazing experience in itself. You can also return on the next available Manta Ray Experience for only FJD$75 per person and hope the manta’s will be a little more hospitable!

GENERAL INFORMATION & BOOKING CONDITIONS

• Prices are in Fijian dollars on a per person basis and include Value Added Tax (VAT), currently 15% and are valid for travel until 31 March 2024.

• Child fares are for children aged between 5 to 15 years inclusive. Children under 5 years are not permitted on this Day Cruise.

• Complimentary coach connection transfers are provided for selected day trips from most Nadi, Denarau & Wailoaloa hotels/resorts. Please check with your hotel tour desk to see if a courtesy coach connection pick up is applicable from your hotel/resort and coach departure time. Missed Coach Connections will necessitate customers to make their own arrangements at their own cost to join their Day Cruise at Port Denarau.

• Inclusions are as indicated in the brochure and websites at time of travel. If not stated as included then item/s are at customers own cost.

• South Sea Cruises reserves the right to alter prices, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary. All cruises are subject to sea and weather conditions. Should adverse conditions prevent operation, our liability is limited to offering an alternative cruise or appropriate refund no greater than the fare paid. South Sea Cruises is not responsible for missed flights due to late arrival at airline check-in counter.

• Wi-Fi Please note the Wi-Fi onboard is intermittent at certain times due to remote locations we travel to.

• While at Mantaray Island Resort, customers are welcome to set up a tab which they can settle with cash or credit card at the bar or the office prior to departure from the resort.

• Manta Ray sightings. If the manta ray are not sighted during your day trip, we offer a reduced cost return trip on the next available Manta Experience date (subject to availability). Return Manta Ray Experience: Adults and Children

• Where another company or persons operate the tour, activity, excursion, snorkeling or tender boat South Sea Cruises is acting as a Sales Agents only. Responsibility for the operation and liability for the any mishap lies with those operators solely and not with South Sea Cruises. For this particular tour the snorkeling, water activities, tender boat, and resort experience including lunch are operated by Mantaray Island Resort.

• Credit Card or International Debit Card payments will incur a 2.5-3% non-refundable administration fee.

• Cancellation fees Within 24 hours 100%. No Show 100%.

• Amendment fees No fees apply to amend to another South Sea Cruises day trip or an alternative date, however, if the trip is subsequently cancelled irrespective of whether travel is outside of the 24-hour travel date, a 100% cancellation fee applies.
