As part an of the previous year module 402, I expected that this module will be a continuation of this. However, I have to say that I was surprised when I start to realise that I was wrong. The module has been much more extended and focus on our professional development since we started. I found very encouraging and inspiring every single lecture that college provided us, and also, the invitation of professional artists to talk about the illustration industry was a great experience to push every single student to pursue our artistic dreams. Probably the most important lesson and experience that this module has provided to the students, and to me personally, have been the research into the creatives industries. I've learnt and start to understand how the SWOT analysis works, a self-analysis to help understand how successful my marketing skills are and in which are or direction, according to my practice, will be the most suitable for my work. Furthermore, I found the lectures about mark and marketing very useful for our future. This is due to the knowledge adquired about how the market works. We all might know a little bit how to promote and sell our artwork, but learning how the industry and the market work from the inside gave us ( students) a better understanding of how the things will be once we left college, kind of like a professional warm-up preparation. Nevertheless, I still think that research and analysing different artists and their practices, which are related and relevant to our practices have helped me to constantly improve and push my skills. Looking and comparing my artwork with my favourites artist's work has become a constant personal challenge , whereas I tried to absorb their best features for a later use on my practice. I consider this type of research very productive , as in a way, makes you work harder because of the comparison with their artwork. Always from a very healthy perspective. On the other hand, I would say that this module has helped me to define and understand myself a little bit more. Thanks to the progression on the different modules we had, each of them have provided my a different set of skills for my professional and personal trajectory. For instance, Responsive has taught me to respond to different live briefs at the same time ( time-management ). Cop2 has helped me to narrow my ideas and how I communicate them through narrative. 504 has helped me to improve my practice, techniques and skills using traditional and non-traditional media through research and practice. 505 was an opportunity to use our understanding on the industries and how to apply for our work at a professional level through the market and products. Perhaps at first, I didn't think about it, but now that we are coming to the end of the module, I feel like every module is connected and the product will be shown in 502. A personal and professional progression of ourselves, whereas I started to really understand the way I work, how I work and where and in what I want to work. To be honest, when I first started the course, I already had an idea of where I want to go afterwards, but at the same time, I was scared and uncertain. I feel much more confident about my practice and the direction I want to take from now own. One of the things that I probably not very proud/happy about is that the interview with my artist didn't go as well as I planned. Couldn't get the reply from them and I was really willing to take advice and shared experienced from them to guide me through my career. However, doing the article about Ian McQue I learnt a lot and some of the questions I had in mind were answered by him after all , even if it wasn't me the interviewer. Overall , I think that this module has become an important pillar for my practice. I feel secure and certain about the direction I would like to take on the creatives industries. If I compare myself one year ago, although I kind of knew what I wanted to do, I still had many insecurities. However, now I can say 100% secure that my trajectory will approach through (Concept art - Character design and willing to enter into the video-games industry.
