The starting point for this project was a photo showing a performance of two acrobats from the Acrojou Circus Theatre, who built a mouse wheel lookalike construction. They loaded up all their “belongings” and by climbing on top of each other with dancing moves, the spinned the wheel, entertaining the audience. So, what they actually built was a Dwelling in Motion. This work deals with two incompatible terms for the modern western societies: habitation and motion. The experience of housing is a space time related experience. Thus, not only the construction itself, but also the happenings, which take place during the motion, form the experience of housing.
Michail- Marios Petrongonas Architect-Engineer
In our work, motion equals the use of an existing network, the railway system. Living along the rails is a chance to experience spatial relations via motion. We envision a new kind of train, which is able to WUDQVIRUP GHSHQGLQJ RQ WKH GLHUHQW QHHGV DQG H[SHFWDWLRQV 2XU ȴQDO JRDO LV WR UHGHVLJQ WKH LQWHULRU RI WKH ZDJRQV DQG WKH ZD\ WKH SDVVHQJHU FDQ KRS R WKH WUDLQ DQG live along the rails before he hops on some other train tthat carry him to his next stations.
Resume + Sample of work The Greek topography provides with all the sceneries to be discovered and consists of a beautiful
landscape. The abandoned railway system of Peloponnese is a great chance to be re-habited in a new way for alternative vacation housing, for dwellings in motion.
RECOMMENDATION LETTER
August 4, 2016 To whom it may concern. The following shall serve as a letter of recommendation for Marios Petrongonas in relation to his application for a position as an architect in your office. I know Marios since February 2016, when he joined MLRP Architecture, the company of which I happen to be a founding partner. Given that I had the chance to personally collaborate with him, I believe that I have a comprehensive understanding about his abilities and professional attitude. For the last six months, Marios worked on different projects of small and larger scale, mainly at residential and recreational facilities, following different phases in the design process. He was fully commited to his work and showed willingness to acquire new knowledge even from the projects that he was not assigned to. I was happy to mentor him personally and perceive that he is a fast learner in major matters, such as the particularity of the architectural market in Scandinavia as well as the importance of time management and efficiency. It is important to mention that, from his first weeks in our company, he showed the ability to take on responsibility against delivery deadlines, when he managed to cover the absence of a vital member of our practice successfully. In addition to a general aptitude of architectural design, perception of construction detail and a wide range of architectural reference, Marios showed a capacity to create and present, using his outstanding computational fluency. It is evident that he has tirelessly worked over the years to master his technical skills in advanced modeling, presentation and digital rendering. It is noteworthy that, during his staying in MLRP, I noticed his eagerness to broaden his BIM skills, even during his free time. As a result, he was able to adapt and integrate into the company’s workflow in short time. Unfortunatelly, we are obliged to let Marios go exclusively due to financial reasons. In a private talk, we both agreed that it would be ideal for his future to participate in a bigger company this time, where he can join bigger design teams and associate with multiple mentors. Thus, I applaud his decision to apply for a position in your company, since I believe he will give evidence of his higher skills and it will be a gainful collaboration for both sides. Should you require further assistance on the above matter, feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Mads H. Lund

NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE Letter of Recommendation
Athens – September August 7th 2016
To whom it may concern It gives us great pleasure to recommend Mr Marios Petrongonas, a graduate student of the School of Architecture, of the National Technical University of Athens. Our first acquaintance with Mr Petrongonas took place in 2013 in the course of my tutorials in the School of Architecture NTUA. During the final year of his studies Mr. Petrogonas worked, under my immediate supervision, on his ninth semester theory thesis, under the title ‘From the visual distance approach of the landscape to the physical approach_ the national tourist routes network of Norway’ and received the highest possible note (10,00/10,00). Our fruitfull collaboration continued during the next tenth semester, on the subject of Mr Petrongonas’ diploma project entitled ‘Dwelling in Motion – Reviving the abandoned railroad network of Peloponnese, Greece’ that also received an excellent note (09,40/10,00). The above-mentioned successful project, which was elaborated under my immediate supervision, offers a proof of the applicant’s efficiency, of his extreme persistency and his academic maturity. I have to mention that it was presented, as an exemplary proposal, during the international university workshop ‘Code Athens’, which was organized by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH, the National University of Athens and the University of Patras, during April 2015, in Athens. Concluding, we can describe Mr Marios Petrongonas as a highly talented student, one of the best students we have ever had (upper 5% of the last 5 years), with outstanding motivation for architectural work and special ability to organise workload. It seems just obvious for us to strongly support his application for professional collaboration with an architectural studio. We feel completely convinced that he can become a valuable asset for any working environment and we will be happy to welcome him back in Athens any time in the future.
Sincerely Yours Dr Konstantinos Moraitis PhD in Architecture and Landscape Architecture Professor, School of Architecture National Technical University of Athens

Our proposal takes in serious consideration this simple yet profound proposition; how do we build to maximize openess, how can a library This work deals with two incompatible terms for the modern western societies: habitation and motion. The experience of housing is a space-time related experience. Thus, no and in particular, the new Library of Varna go beyond its obvious function to act as a catalyst of urban connectivity and a generator - facillitator of events. The design is built around three core concepts: -A clear vertical organization, following the axiom that, the closer to the street a fuction is, the more public its nature. -A desire for maximized organizational flexibility and adaptability to compensate for future needs. -A vivid outer form that will pose a compeling addition to the city skyline. The idea of a large drape is expressed vivildy on the outer form of the building.

The concept of the design is to keep the rooftop untouched by the interior provision. That means that we follow a structural system of columns which are free in space and leave the program floating inbetween them. The rooftop hovers over the program and dives in front of the interio slabs in order to create the entrances to different levels of the interior.

The project analyses and works upon the growth and evolution of the city against the new Opera house “SNFcc in Athens. The artificial hill, underneath of which large scale facilities of culture are hosted, is going to change the land values and signify a new entrance towards the city centre of Athens. A new discussion for the type of habitation begins. Students are called to reimagine the city and the values of housing experience.

PHYSICAL MODELING 1:1 CONSTRUCTIONS
Alongside with digital tools, physical modeling constitutes a key part of the design process. Experinmenting with different scales and materials is crucial for comprehending the project and evolving in all design phases. Physical models include concentrated information about construction behaviour, light performance and can approach the feeling of a to be realised project. In this section, a sample of the physical models I worked with is exhibited. Materials such as cardboard, wood, steel, cortene, fiberglass, plexiglass, pvc, foam, plastic straws, lycra and celo tape are just a few, of which were used to create not only physical approaches of the projects shown above, but also for 1:1 scale constructions, such as the design of a chair for my workspace or a bathtab inspired by silkworms.
