The Kindergarten Blues

The Kindergarten Blues Written by Katelyn Landerman Illustrated by Marisa Strothenke

Tomorrow’s the day,

my first day of school.

I’m really nervous, I have

the kindergarten blues.

I wake up in the morning, I don’t know what to wear.

I can’t find my backpack, it gives me a scare.

Today’s the big day,

I got the kindergarten blues.

I go down for breakfast, Mom made me some toast.

Then she asks me, what snack I love the most.

I get in the van, so we can go to school.

I’m worried about making friends, I just have to relax and be cool.

I go in the front door, and it’s a bit scary.

But then I run into, my neighbor Larry.

Finding my room, is a little bit hard. But there are some clues,

to help me get rid of the kindergarten blues.

I go meet my teacher, she seems pretty nice.

She tells me for lunch, we’re having fluffy rice.

I start to realize, this isn’t so bad.

No more kindergarten blues, I’m not even sad.

I made so many new friends, I can’t wait to come back.

Just got to remember, to bring my naptime snack.

The kindergarten blues are gone, and I’m ready to write a new song.
