If possible, feed baby just before I arrive to make it less likely they are hungry/fussy during the session.
Keep baby warm before and throughout the session. If you can stand it, turn up your thermostat 2 or 3 degrees. This will help baby sleep for the whole session and allow for more cuddly poses.
3. WHEN I ARRIVE...
It can be helpful to have a bottle or paci nearby, if your baby takes either, in case they get fussy.
Usually I get you to give me a quick tour of options you think may work best for photos so we can make a game plan. We will also go through anything you requested me to bring so we can decide what to use,
Prepping Your Home
1.
2.
You don’t have to clean - dust or dirt won’t show in your photos. However, do declutter! Clearing horizontal spaces like counter tops, coffee tables, and floors can be helpful In the direct area you want to shoot.
Open all blinds and drapes to let as much light in as possible.
3.
Turn off all indoor / artificial lights. We will use only natural lights from the windows.
Choosing a Style
There is no right or wrong style for in-home newborn photos! Some families prefer to dress up, while others opt for jeans or lounge wear. Here are examples of each so you can decide what you prefer!

Choosing a Color Palette
In general, warm muted colors and soft earth tones tend to work best with my photography style .
When in doubt, neutrals like creams, tans, and browns always look beautiful for photos.
Try to select one or two colors to incorporate and keep the rest of the wardrobe neutral. Below are some example color schemes.
