A SUMMER STORY Posted by NasTourn on Girl Power Last summer, a girl named Nina was on holidays with her family and their dog, Nelly, on an island. One day, they decided to go to the beach. When they arrived there, the beach was empty. They didn’t mind. They were all having fun-Dad was swimming, Mum was sunbathing and Nina and Nelly were playing on the beach. Suddenly, something terrible happened. A huge wave covered the beach and the family split up. Everyone was fine, but they couldn’t find each other. Nina was very frightened, but she wasn’t alone. Nelly was with her. They didn’t know what to do. Nina sat on a rock and started crying. It would be dark soon. Suddenly, Nelly discovered something. It was a mermaid! She was scared. She said that the wave took her away from her home. She lived under a huge rock that was shaped like a heart. Nina remembered that she had seen this rock when she was walking with Nelly. They took the mermaid to the rock. She was very happy, but Nina was very sad. The mermaid asked her why she was sad and Nina told her about her parents. The mermaid said that she could grant one wish to each one of them to thank them. Nina wished she had her parents back and Nelly started barking. Two seconds later, the family was together again and they were so happy… But wait a minute, where was Nelly? She was next to them under a huge pile of bones!!! A summer story Posted by Christina on Girl Power Two years ago, I organised a beach party at my father's hotel. First of all, I bought all the decorations I needed and put them up everywhere. After that, I made lots of invitations with many colours and stickers and sent them to my friends. Then, went shopping with my mother to buy snacks and drinks. I also ordered a big chocolate cake and I bought some CDs. On that day everybody came wearing their swimsuits. The sun was shining and we all got th the sea. We swam a lot, played differsnt games in the sand and looked for shells. Moreover, we danced, sang, sunbathed and had some food. All of a sudden, it started raining. Although the rain marred the party, it was an unforgettable day and all my friends had fun!

Summer story Posted by Stergios M. on Bits and Pieces This is a story of one of our summer experiences. This story is not real. On 6th July 2009 I was on holidays in Athens with my family and some of our friends. The fourth day of our stay in the hotel, while we were having breakfast I noticed that my favorite band was staying in this hotel too. When I finished my breakfast, I went to their table and asked them for an autograph. All four members of the band gave me an autograph and I was so excited that they asked me if one day I wanted to play guitar with them. I answered that it would be great if they had free time after the breakfast. Then they said that they did not have anything else to do. After the breakfast I went to my room and took my guitar.I ran at their bedroom and we started playing the guitar. We had a really good time and I talked with all the groups of the band. They told me that they would come to Greece again after 2 years and I was looking forward to their new concert. After two hours I finally left their room. I really had a great time and I think I was so lucky to stay in the same hotel that my favorite band was staying in. Summer Adventure Posted by Minas on Bits and Pieces Three years ago, my father and I went on a trip to a lake called "Gergeri".After we enjoyed looking at the beautiful scenery and taking a lot of pictures, we got in our old car to return home. As I said before, our car was actually too old. So, while my dad was driving, he smelt a strange smell like fire. Then, we saw smoke given off from the car! After that, we stopped and my father tried to fix it, but it was too difficult... So, we were in the middle of nowhere and there was no signal on our mobile phones. After 20 minutes, we decided to leave our car and find a village or a town. We were thirsty because of the very hot weather and a bit hungry. We found a church, but unfortunately it didn't have a fountain. We had been searching for about an hour when we finally found a village. We drank a lot of water and ate some food. There was signal, then, for our mobile

phones, so we called my uncle and asked him to come and finally he came and we got home. From now on, I won't get into an old car again!!! SUMMER EXPERIENCES Posted by Maria
It all started last summer when I was with my family and my cousin's family at the beach. I experienced something absolutely incredible. I was swimming with my cousin, when we decided to take our fishguns and start fishing. We went in different places in order to catch more fish. I decided to go very deep where the big fish were. All of a sudden while I was watching the fish I saw a head of a person. It took my breath away! I went closer and I realised it was a head of a big doll. I continue fishing. When I looked back I'd hardly see the coast. I panicked. I swam quickly to the shore. Minutes later I got back to the coast and everyone was waiting for me and all of them were, on the one hand, happy that I finally went out of the water safe and, on the other hand, scared. After all those that happened my mum and my dad were talking to me about that 'for ages'. I think that experience will be unforgettable. Drawing in the sand Posted by Izoldh Last summer,in the morning I went with my friends Karlo and Manuel at the beach. There were lots of people in a particular place. I went to see what was going on.After a lot of minutes waiting to see , I finally saw a man drawing in the sand. It was too weird and unusual. Firstly he drew a horse which was so wonderful and seemed like a real horse.Secondly, he drew a woman who was stading next to him.Lots of people came, asking him to make a portrait of them. Two hours later, a man who

knew about art told him that this new way of art was so fascinating and wonderful that he could show it to other people by having an exhibition in a gallery. But he did not accept the proposal and I could not understand the reason. In the end, when he finished his work everybody applauded and cheered him. The message that I want to give from my story is that everyone has the ability and the imagination to invent new ways of art. MY SUMMER NIGHTMARE!!!! Posted by elena
Listen to this music while you read the story. Last summer, I went camping with my family and my cousin on a marvelous beach.Everything was under control until a friend of us came with his jetski...When I saw it i was thrilled, so I immediately asked my parents if I could rent a jet-ski but the answer was negative...So my cousin Lina, who was amazed too, came up with a great idea!!She suggested renting a jet-ski without telling it to our parents... And so we did..We told our parents that we would go just for a big walk..Lina who was 18 years old, managed to rent one!So our big ride had begun! We were passing through the small waves like the wind...But suddenly our wonderful day ended up into a terrible nightmare! That happened because we were riding so fast that we didn't see the huge rock under the sea. When we crushed onto the rock,we fell in the sea ...The jet-ski went too far but apart from that we lost the key...When we realised that,we swam quickly to get the

jet ski.Hours were passing by quickly but we didn't see any boats... We thought that our parents were looking for us...
Suddenly, when all of our hopes had abandoned us,a little boat appeared. The old man that was in it invited us,but we refused to go with a stranger. The man didn't insist and he left. After a long hour another much bigger boat stopped near us and two men insisted to take us without asking us...Then we realised from their tone of voice that they wanted to hurt us but suddenly the man with the small boat that we saw a long hour before appeared just by luck!!!!!The two men were scared and they left quickly..Afterwards,we got on his boat without having any doubts about him... Eventually,in half an hour we stepped on the land.We went with the old man to the police station because we knew that our parents might be there...When they saw us they started crying and afterwards we narrated our nightmare with the jet-ski...Well, from this story I want to send a message to all the young people: When our parents don't agree with us,they do it because they love us and they are trying to protect us.So we need to understand them sometimes and not to accuse them... A day I will never forget!!!! Posted by eleni lag on the Literature Blog It was the last day of my Panhellenic Exams in 2005, about 6 years ago. After an entire academic year full of stress, anxiety for our future and a lot of studying, it was time for all students to relax. So all of my classmates, about 20 people, took a bus and went to the closest beach to Heraklion. As soon as we got off the bus we run towards the sea. We threw our bags to the sun loungers and we started playing water games; a kind of water polo, diving etc. Something special that I notices was that although I had been in

touch with all of them everyday, I can hardly remember each one of them to be so happy, excited and free of responsibilities. When the sunset started, we sat in a wide circe, playing the guitar and singing. During the songs the boys were trying to light a fire. Unfortunatelly, we had an unpleasant moment with the fire. Some people, who were living nearby called the police. A police officer arrived there and he asked us to put out the fire because it was a public beach and what we were doing was illegal. We could do nothing else but obey to the rules. About eleven o'clock we picked up our things and unfortunatelly it was time to catch the bus and go back home. I think I will remember that day for my whole life as the last day that all of us gathered and had such a wonderful time. I hope that through the years we will manage to meet again. The intriguing friendship! Posted by elen... on the Literature Blog The sky had the most wonderful colours and the sunshine was there. Everyone was watching this charming and appealing picture and was surprised by this faschinating view. A company of ten friends, decided to set out for a journey for two days alone, without their parents. The destination was the city near them, Rethimno. They just wanted to take a rest and fill their batteries. There was also the vision of revolution in their minds, so they wanted to do something alternative and extraordinary. They went to the beach everyday. Their faces were glad and bright. They played rackets all the time and of course they loved swimming. At night they wanted to play guitar and sing all together. They had fun and they were talking about this friendship, insisting that they do not want to lose it. Out of the blue a man came along. He scared them, but then they understood that it was just a joke. A prank which had been played by Jim, the one of the two boys in the company. Everyone released their anger on him and so they had an argument. Some girls left and came back home. Only Elena stayed with him. They stayed the night in the beach talking about everything. After all these incidents , Elena understood that Jim was a real friend of hers. Two days later, the whole company was united again. The moral of this story is that friendship between the two sexes can exist. So do not be old fashioned. Become open minded and find the friends that will be your companions for all your life!

Nick's summer story Posted by Nick on the Literature Blog A sudden, loud voice had interrupted my deep sleep. Yes, I could clearly hear a girl shrieking. ''Help me out''. Spontaneously , I put on my pants, my white T-shirt and and grabbed my friend's knife. Her voice was now barely audible. I rushed out of the tent... Inadvertently, I had to act as a hero. It had all begun the previous morning, when I, along with a couple of friends were setting off for a 3-day trip to Sougia, in Chania, the annual venue of dozen of campers. We arrived, set up the tents and our equipment and went straight to the sea. Intrigued by the charming green- blue wate, and entranced by the natural day, we spent hours on end on the beach. The time lapsed, it was almost ten, as I recall, when inquired the others: '' I' ll go to grab a coffee, would you like anything? I'll foot the bill.'' Taking their orders, I went straight to the canteen. After waiting for half an hour ( the service was particularly awful ), I returned back to the tents to find everybody else sleeping. ''Insomnia'', I whispered ironically. Reluctant to sleep and, unlike my friends, still feeling vigorous, I chose to take a walk. For a strange reason, I felt tis bizarre emotion of being spied. ''Come to your senses, I scolded myself, '' I am on vacation, not the hero of a science- fiction film. Half an hour later, the soft noise of the sea and the consecutive sounds from swarms of insects caused me sleepiness... No sooner had I managed to close my eyes than I woke up out of the blue. I followed ''the voices'' up to a point. After that point, deathly silence. I stood there, frozen by fear, on a rock, utterly disappointed. Rivults of sweat were running down my face. I was on the point of '' aborting the mission '', when a blinding light came to my eyes. The despondency had vanished... I knew I had to jump on this truck... I did so; and then an intense pain on the head... What was going to be the outcome of this thriller? My friend John, who was above me patted me on the back in a friendly way. ''Wake up thrill-seeker'', he said in a serious tone. ''I guess you are totally oblivious of the fact that that you caused inconvenience throughout the camping with your shouts. ''You must have seen a nightmare. I can't explain it differently. Half an an hour later, I woke up drinking my coffee with friends, endeavoring to describe them my weird dream. ''I was under the misapprehension that it was you Marianne'', I said. She laughed. The impolite waite came towards us asking for a tip. ''Never pat a burning dog's fur, pal'', I replied calmly.
