Venues and Events Whangārei
Manages, operates, and promotes the Forum North Entertainment Centre as well as community and major events for the district. Forum North Theatre cater for all abilities and ages. Claphams Clocks
Claphams National Clock Museum is located at the Whangārei Town Basin and holds a bespoke collection of historic (and more recent) clocks and watches; we offer a delightful introductory tour by one of our expert guides as part of your entrance fee ($8 per senior). We also offer a special rate of $4 for pre-booked group tours.
The museum has over 1,000 clocks and watches on display, and you should allow up to 45 minutes for your visit. Our compact and well stocked museum shop focusses on NZ made items and has a wonderful selection of ‘easy to pack’ gifts available. We are open every day of the year (except Christmas and 30th June for stocktaking) from 9am – 4.30 pm.
Customer Services
We provide free parking for residents aged 70 years and older at all our council owned carparks. There is the potential to claim a rates rebate if income is below a certain threshold and we have Buttercup the mobility scooter and two wheelchairs available for short term free hire from Whangārei Art Museum. ID is required.

Community Development
The co uncil has a Positive A ging Advisory Group (PAAG), which works with us to su pport overall improvemen ts in the inde pendence, participation, care, and dignity of the district’s older people.

Our CitySafe programme in Whangārei City enables people to report safety problems such as graffiti, broken or damaged streetlights, damaged footpaths and tripping hazards, bikes in the mall, skateboarders in the CBD or other bylaw prohibited areas, or people behaving in an unsafe way through 0800 258 258.
The Total Mobility Scheme in partnership with the Northland Regional Council and New Zealand Transport Agency offers people with impairments a 50% discount on taxi fares for transport in the Whangārei urban area.
