Little Book of Prayers

"Prayer can truly change your life. For it turns your attention away from yourself and directs your mind and your hearts toward the Lord. If we look only at ourselves with our limitations and sins we quickly give way to sadness and discouragement. But if we keep our eyes fixed on the Lord, then our hearts are filled with hope, our minds are washed in the light of truth and we come to know the fullness of the Gospel with all its promise and life." - Pope John Paul II

The Miracle Prayer Lord Jesus I come before you just as I am. I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your name I forgive all others for what they have done against me. The Angelus The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary; and she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to Thy word. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

And the Word was made flesh; and dwelled among us. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Pray for us, O holy mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Beatitudes Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. -

Matthew 5:1-12

Prayer for a Family O dear Jesus, I humbly implore you to grant your special graces to our family. May our home be the shrine of peace, purity, love, labor and faith. I beg You, dear Jesus, to protect and bless all of us, absent and present, living and dead. O Mary, loving mother of Jesus, and our mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the families of the world, to guard the cradle of the newborn, the schools of the young and their vocations. Blessed Saint Joseph, holy guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by your prayers in all the necessities of life. Ask of Jesus that special grace which He granted to you, to watch over our

home at the pillow of the sick and the dying, so that with Mary and with you, heaven may find our family unbroken in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Jude O most holy apostle Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, we honor and invoke you as the patron of hopeless cases. Make use of that particular privilege accorded to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is most needed. Come to my assistance, that I may receive the consolation and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings and that I may praise God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O blessed Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, morning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Prayer to the Immaculate Heart Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and tender Mother of all people, I consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart and recommend to you my family, my country and the whole human race. Please accept my consecration, dearest Mother and use me as you wish, to accomplish your designs upon the world. O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth, rule over me and teach me how to allow the Heart of Jesus to rule and triumph in me and around me, as it has ruled and triumphed in you. Amen.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I give and consecrate myself to You. I give You my being, my life, my actions, my sorrows and my sufferings. May I never employ the least part of my being otherwise than in loving, honoring and glorifying You. I take You, O Sacred Heart, for the one object of my love, the protector of my life, the security of my salvation, the remedy to my inconstancy, the atonement for all sins of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of my death.

O Heart of Goodness, be my advocate with God the Father, as I stand infinitely undeserving of His Great Love.

O Heart of Love, in You I place my whole trust. I have so much to fear from my own weakness, but I hope everything from Your Goodness. Destroy in me, therefore, whatever is displeasing to You; whatever resists You. May the pure Love of You, be so deeply graven in my heart, that I may never forget You. By Your Goodness, I entreat You, engrave my name upon Your Heart for I will place my whole happiness in being Your servant through life and death. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my love and trust in You. Amen.

Divine Mercy - Jesus I Trust in You!

Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.

The Greatest Commandments “You shall love the Lord, your with all your heart, with all being, with all your strength with all your mind, and neighbor as yourself. -

God, your and your

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, Our Lady of Fatima, Queen of Peace pray for us!

Prayer of Saint Francis Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is error, the truth; where there is doubt, the faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Guardian Angel Prayer Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, rule and guide. Amen. My good Angel, you come from heaven; God has sent you to take care of me. Oh, shelter me under your wings. Lighten my path, direct my steps. Do not leave me, stay quite near me and defend me against the spirit of evil. But above all come to my help in the last struggle of my life. Deliver my soul so that with you it may praise, love and contemplate the goodness of God forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady May the light of your faith dispel the darkness of my mind; may your profound humility take the place of my pride; may your sublime contemplation check the distractions of my wandering imagination; may your continuous sight of God fill my memory with His presence; may the burning love of your heart inflame the luke warmness of mine; may your virtues take the place of my sins; may your merits be my only adornment in the sight of God and make up for all that is wanting in me. Finally, dearly beloved Mother, grant, if it be possible, that I may have no other spirit but yours to know Jesus and His divine will; that I may have no other soul but yours to praise and glorify the Lord; and that I may have

no other heart but yours to love God with a love as pure and ardent as yours. Amen. -

Saint Louis de Montfort

Prayer to the Archangels Heavenly Father you gave us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth. Saint Michael is our protector, I ask him to come to my aid, fight for all my loved ones and protect us from danger. Saint Gabriel is a messenger for the Good News, I ask him to help me clearly hear your voice and to teach me the truth. Saint Raphael is the healing angel, I ask him to take my need for healing and that of everyone I know, lift it up to your throne of grace and deliver back to us the gift of recovery.

Help us O Lord to realize more fully the reality of the archangels and their desire to serve us. Holy Angels pray for us. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do you, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. O glorious prince chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Amen.

Praying with Your Five Fingers 1. The thumb is the closest finger to you. So start praying for those who are closest to you. They are the persons easiest to remember. To pray for our dear ones is a “sweet obligation.” 2. The next finger is the index. Pray for those who teach you, instruct you and heal you. They need the support and wisdom to show direction to others. Always keep them in your prayers. 3. The following finger is the tallest. It reminds us of our leaders, the governors and those who have authority. They need God’s guidance. 4. The fourth finger is the ring finger. Even that it may surprise you, it is our

weakest finger. It should remind us to pray for the weakest, the sick or those plagued by problems. They need your prayers. 5. And finally we have our smallest finger, the smallest of all. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. When you are done praying for the other four groups, you will be able to see your own needs but in the proper perspective, and also you will be able to pray for your own needs in a better way. -

Pope Francis

Stay with me Lord Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You. You know how easily I abandon You. Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need Your strength, so I may not fall so often. Stay with me, Lord, for You are my life, and without You, I am without fervor. Stay with me, Lord, for You are my light, and without You, I am in darkness. Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your will. Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear

Your voice and follow You. Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love You very much and always be in Your company. Stay with me, Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You. Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I want it to be a place of consolation for You, a nest of love. Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a close, and life passes; death, judgment, eternity approaches. It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that, I need You. It is getting late and death approaches, I fear the darkness, the temptations, the

dryness, the cross, the sorrows. O how I

need You, my Jesus, in this night of exile! Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all its dangers. I need You. Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of the bread, so that the Eucharistic Communion be the light which disperses the darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart. Stay with me, Lord, because at the hour of my death, I want to remain united to You, if not by communion, at least by grace and love. Stay with me, Jesus, I do not ask for divine consolation, because I do not merit it, but the gift of Your Presence, oh yes, I ask this of You!

Stay with me, Lord, for it is You alone I look for, Your Love, Your Grace, Your Will, Your Heart, Your Spirit, because I love You and ask no other reward but to love You more and more. With a firm love, I will love You with all my heart while on earth and continue to love You perfectly during all eternity. Amen. -

Saint Padre Pio

Sacred Heart Prayer

O Lord Jesus Christ, to your most Sacred Heart, I confide these my intentions. Only look upon me, then do what your love inspires. Let your Sacred Heart decide. I count on you. I trust in you. I throw myself on your mercy. Lord Jesus you will not fail me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in you. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in your love for me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, your kingdom come. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked you for many favors, but I earnestly implore this one. Take it, place it in your open Heart. When the Eternal Father looks upon it, He will see it covered with your Precious Blood. It will be no longer my prayer, but yours Jesus. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my

trust in you. Amen.

Blessed Mother

We who are your apostles pray for all your intentions. Guide us to help you and please hear each of the special requests of your children. May our prayers and intentions bring us ever closer to your son. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Amen.

Prayer to the Most Holy Name of Mary. If the hurricanes of temptation rise against you, or you are running upon the rocks of trouble, look to the star, call on Mary. If the waves of pride, or ambition, or slander, or envy toss you, look to the star, call on Mary. If the billows of anger or avarice, or the enticements of the flesh beat against your soul's bark, look to Mary. If the enormity of your sins trouble you, if the foulness of your conscience confound you, if the dread of judgment appall you, if you begin to slip into the deep of despondency, into the pit of despair, think of Mary.

In danger, in difficulty, or in doubt, think of Mary, call on Mary. Let her not be away from you mouth or from your heart. If you follow her, you will never go astray. If you pray to her, you will never have need to despair. If you keep her in mind, you will never fall. If she leads you, you will never be weary. If she helps you, you will reach home safe at the last and so you will prove in yourself how meekly it is said: and the Virgin's name was Mary. Amen.

Act of Contrition O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.

The Lord’s Prayer When you pray, enter into your room and having shut the door, pray to the Father in secret and the Father who sees in secret will repay you. And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard. Be not you like them, for your Father knows what is needed for you, before you ask him. Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.

For if you will forgive men their offenses your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offenses. But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offenses. - Matthew 5:48, 6:11-15 Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Prayer for Healing

Lord you invite all who are burdened to come to you.Allow your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with your compassion for others. Touch my heart with your courage and infinite love for all. Touch my mind with your wisdom, that my mouth my always proclaim your praise. Teach me to reach out to you in my need and help me to lead others to you by my example. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring me health in body and spirit that I may serve you with all my strength.

Touch gently this life which You have created, now and forever.Amen.

My Queen and My Mother!

My Queen and my Mother, I give myself entirely to you and to show my devotion, I consecrate to you this day my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve. Wherefore, good Mother, as I am your own, keep me, guard me, as your property and possession. Amen.

Gaze at the Star! O man, whoever you are, carried along by the tide of this world, tossed adrift among its storms and tempests, never take your eyes from the light of this star. When the winds of temptation are unleashed upon you, when you are washed up on the reefs of adversity, fix your eyes on the star, and call to Mary! If you are tossed on the waves of pride, ambition or jealousy, look at the star and cry out for Mary! If anger or greed or the beguiling charms of the flesh rock the vessel of your soul, gaze at Mary.

When, racked by the enormity of your sins, ashamed that your conscience is sullied or in terror of the threat of judgment, you are swallowed up by the abyss of sorrow or plunged into the depths of despair, think of Mary. When you are in danger, distress or desperate situations, call for Mary, cry out to Mary! Oh, that her name may never leave your lips, may never leave your heart; never cease to imitate her life so that you may obtain the favor of her prayers. And your own experience will show you the rightness of calling out that word: the name of the virgin was Mary! -

Saint Bernard of Clairvaux

Magnificat “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm and has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children for ever. - Luke 14:42-55

The Pilgrim's Prayer God, guard these your children who, for the love of your name, make a pilgrimage to Compostela on the Way of Saint James. Be their companion on the way, their guide at the crossroads, their strength in weariness, their defense in dangers, their shelter on the path, their shade in the heat, their light in the darkness, their comfort in discouragement, and the firmness of their intentions; through your guidance, they may arrive safely at the end of their journey and enriched with grace and virtue, may return to their homes filled with salutary and lasting joy. Prayer to Saint Christopher, Dear Saint Christopher, you inherited the beautiful name "Christ bearer" as a result of a legend that while carrying people across a raging stream you also carried the Child Jesus. Teach us to be true Christ bearers to those who do not know him. Protect us as we travel this world on our pilgrimage back to the Father. Amen.

Let us ask Our Lady to teach us to love Jesus as she loved Him. -

Blessed Mother Teresa

Love Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy or boast. It is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way. It is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. So now faith, hope and love abide these three; but the greatest of these is Love. -
