5 Features That Make Carrera S, Porsche’s Best Sports Car till date

Porsche is one automobile brand known to infuse its models with extremely powerful engines and inspired design elements. Porsche’s latest model, the Carrera S is one such marvel from the German car maker, which incorporates Porsche's racing car DNA and brazen looks. Such inspired engineering has gone into its making, that Porsche has touted the Carrera S as the finest sports car ever produced by them. Let’s take a look at five features of the Carrera S that make it one of the fastest sports car in the world today.

1. Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) PDK is the transmission assembly that incorporates two gearboxes in one. The double-clutch assembly provides a non-positive, alternating connection between the engine and the two half gearboxes via two separate input shafts. Power transmitted from the engine passes through one-half of gearbox and clutch at a time, while the second half gearbox pre-selects the next gear. Thereby, it takes only milliseconds to change gears in the 7-gear transmission assembly, out of which gears one to six all have a sports ratio, while the seventh gear is ratio-ed only for fuel economy.

2. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) Both PTV (with manual transmission) and PTV Plus (with PDK) actively enhance stability and vehicle dynamics. Together with a rear differential lock, these torque transmitting assemblies assist in applying the rear wheel brakes while making assertive turns through tight corners. Now, the rear differential lock is manually regulated in the PTV, while the PTV Plus offers electronic control for the variable torque distribution, across roads with varying grip and texture. This enables better resistance to destabilizing side forces, greater agility and outstanding traction at all speeds.

3. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) PSM maintains the stability of the car, by incorporating sensors in its design, which continuously monitor the direction, yaw velocity, speed, and lateral acceleration of the car. The PSM system calculates the actual direction of travel at any given time and initiates strategic braking to prevent all possible contingencies using this information. Additionally, PSM improves traction during acceleration on irregular surfaces, by usage of the anti-slip regulation (ASR) and automatic brake differential (ABD) functions.

4. Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) The chassis of Carrera s is designed such, that it has a low center of mass and center of gravity, and wouldn’t get imbalanced during sharp turning. Also, there’s the feature of PDCC, which is an active anti-roll system that minimizes lateral body movement during assertive cornering and on uneven surfaces. It allows the tires and car to have a better grip and traction on roads so that you could steer through corners in a more relaxed and agile manner.

5. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) The latest Carrera S model incorporates cross-drilled ceramic brake discs of a diameter of 410 mm and 390 mm at the front and the rear respectively. Also, we have the PCCB system which features 6-piston monobloc fixed brake calipers made of aluminum, on the front axle and 4-piston brake calipers at the rear to provide superior and consistent braking forces. Compared to the standard brake disks of similar design, the ceramic brake disks in the Carrera have approximately 50 percent lower weight.

Wrapping up Porsche Carrera S is one of the premier sports cars today, and like other brands comes with a hefty price tag, which might be a concern for some people. It’s here that salvage car auctions and public car auctions offering an ensemble of wrecked cars for sale amongst other titled vehicles, come to the rescue. Such auctions allow you to bid on cars with varying damage levels for a reasonable price, which could be repaired to function perfectly. In totality, a wrecked car for sale, which has been repaired, costs way less than the newer model.
