INSTRUCTIONS
INGREDIENTS
Sift together 1 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons cornstarch in medium saucepan. Whisk in 1 cup water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking continuously until mixture begins to thicken. Whisk in a 3-ounce box of strawberry Jell-O (not sugar-free.) Pour mixture into a bowl. Place bowl in an ice bath or refrigerate until cool and congealed to the consistency of uncooked egg whites, whisking occasionally to ensure mixture does not get gummy around the edges.

SUMMER WATERING TIPS WATER EARLY IN THE MORNING BEFORE THE HEAT SETS IN: It will give the plants time to soak in the water before the sun sets. The soil is cooler in the morning, keeping the chance of evaporation to a minimum.
WATER WELL AND DEEPLY: Container plants may need to be watered every day or even twice a day. A tip is to water when the first 2 inches of soil feels dry. Annual and perennial plants in the ground can be watered up to three <85° times each week. Stick to infrequent deep soakings, and aiming the water at the root zone of the plant to reduce runoff and evaporation.
PROMOTE HIGH HUMIDITY: Certain plants like the humidity, including ferns, ginger, hibiscus and elephant ears. They should still be watered during periods of dry, hot weather.
SHIELD HEAT-SENSITIVE PLANTS FROM EXCESSIVE SUN: Plants in containers can be moved to an area that is somewhat shaded in the afternoon. Try to plan accordingly, growing new plants next to taller annuals that will offer cover.
DO NOT FERTILIZE DURING A HEAT WAVE: When soil temperatures are high (above 85° F), plants can go semi-dormant, using little nutrients.
