3) Because locally grown is best … Kaunergrat Nature Park and Chrystal specialities Most of the Tyrol's traditional or original agricultural landscape lies within the Nature Park. Almost all of the region's agricultural land is managed within the scope of ÖPUL (Austrian programme for the conservation of environmentally sound agriculture). This means that farming has to comply with strict environmental regulations. Small mountain farms that are typical for the region shape the appearance of the Tyrolean Oberland. Cultivating the steep meadows and Alpine pastures makes for an extreme form of Alpine agriculture and is a constant challenge to farmers, especially from an economic point of view. The aim of the Nature Park is to preserve this typical cultural landscape and to promote the production and sale of regional agricultural products. Ultimately, this will also preserve the characteristic landscape and farming systems that have been developed over generations.

Delicious autumn delights 14 Sep – 12 Oct 2013 Allow your taste buds to be thoroughly indulged by the autumnal zenith of delights on offer during the ‘Genussherbst’ festival in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, and look forward to the revelation of many a culinary secret. In the autumn, the cattle are ceremoniously driven down from their mountain pastures and the most beautiful of the milk suppliers take part in a beauty pageant. Our local farmers sell their traditional specialities on the farmer's market and you can expect some of the secrets of our typical dumpling to be disclosed. There are delights for every palate, from wild mushrooms to a variety of pumpkin products. In addition, there are cookery demonstrations up on the pastures as well as fun and educational cookery events for the children to enjoy. Alternatively, why not fish for your own fresh trout? All this represents just a small excerpt from the extensive choice of activities and events that will be on offer. You can be sure of a thoroughly indulgent experience as all the villagers actively and enthusiastically support this Alpine event of culinary pleasure and look forward to sharing the celebrations with you. The villages are sumptuously decorated with beautiful arrangements of straw, hay, pumpkins and flowers. CHILDREN BENEFIT THE MOST. Because Adventure World Serfaus with its interactive ‘Murmli Trail’ and ‘Murmliwasser Waterpark’ is part of the package. 15 play areas are grouped around a stream in the ‘Murmliwasser Waterpark’ close to the Komperdell midway station. The Giant Slide, new Slackline Park and Kneipp facilities at the Summer Fun Park Fiss are free with the SUPER.SUMMER. CARD. The card also includes entry to the ‘Adventure Mountains’ trails based on the adventure stories by famous children's author Thomas C Brezina. Furthermore, children aged three to 15 years can use it to enjoy the entertainment programmes on offer at the children's clubs and the Murmli Crèche. Six days a week, the ‘Mini&Maxi Club’ in Fiss and the ‘Murmli Club’ in Serfaus provide full-time childcare facilities and are staffed by highly qualified play and activity leaders.

‘FISSER FLITZER’. FISS. Two thousand two hundred metres of adventure course The ‘Flitzer's’ starting point lies at an altitude of 1,812 metres. As it is next door to the Möseralm terminus, you can get straight onto the toboggan, grab the joystick and go. Several surprises await you en route, including the Ice Cave, the ‘Burning Barn’, the Dino Cave, Native American Village and the Pirate Ship. Depending on how fast tobogganers wish to descend, the 2.2-kilometre route with a 370 metre drop in altitude takes around seven or eight minutes. The toboggan course has an average gradient of 19 percent and speeds of up to 45 kilometres/hour are possible.

‘FISSER FLIEGER’. FISS. Pull on your pilot's vest, strap yourself in, thumbs up and go. The ‘Fisser Flieger’ is a flying vehicle that resembles a biplane and takes four passengers as it ‘floats’ at a height 8 to 47 metres above the ground. This ‘floating’ is perfectly safe as the ‘aircraft’ is guided on a secure steel cable by rollers that cannot become detached from the cable. Each passenger is strapped into a hang-gliding harness, which gives him or her the feeling of flying whilst at the same time offering optimum security. The action starts at the Möseralm terminus in Fiss where all the preparations for the flight take place. The ‘aircraft’ is pulled upwards and backwards at 40 kilometres/hour. Once it has reached the highest point, it sets off on a flight across the Möseralm at up to 80 kilometres/hour.

FISSER GONDE. FISS.

This could become addictive: for one fabulous instant when centrifugal force and gravitation offset each other the body is overcome by a feeling of weightlessness. This is immediately followed by a twelve-metre free-fall; speeds of up to 65 kilometres/hour and four times the Earth's gravity press the passengers into their seats only to hurl them back up on the other side. The swing moves up and down at lightning speed, hovers between 4G and floating and produces three minutes of intense butterflies in the stomach. This is made possible by a giant ‘swing’ of impressive dimensions; The swing's curvature measures 15 metres, and the lift height of 22 metres allows a free fall of twelve metres. Six seats are arranged side by side on a huge crossbeam.

13 stops have been added to the Fisser Gonde Nature Trail, which now forms an attractive circular walk. While each new stop is quite distinct, some are educational, some are fun, others are interactive, they all revolve around the Fisser Gonde natural monument, which has enjoyed protected status since 22 July 1978. Fisser Gonde is located at an altitude of 1,820 – 1,950 metres, just above Möseralm and covers an area of 40,000sqm. The mountain slopes around the Gonde form part of the Samnaun Alps and consist predominantly of Bündner schist quartz phyllite. The nature trail's starting point is adjacent to the Skyswing. You cross a small stream and walk through the gate to enter the spruce

forest below the Gonde. Then you keep following the mountain path that in the past was used by farmers to reach their pastures. There is a cosy and inviting Alpine hut at the route's highest point; stay a while and relax. On the way down you can walk along the new marked-out path and check out the new stops, climb into the tree house or spy on the Gonde's animals. The new circular trail now has 25 stops and offers plenty to see, discover and experience. The route can be walked in either direction and should take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

There's always something going on. Events 2013 ‘Bergtöne’. Fiss – a village full of music. 21 – 23 Jun & 28 – 30 Jun

We have a feast for your ears and a fanfare of sounds. At the newly established ‘Bergtöne’ festival in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis you will have the opportunity to hear the most wonderful brass band music. For the first time in 2013, from Friday to Sunday on the two last weekends in June, famous brass bands from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and South Tyrol will be performing and making our Alpine plateau resound with the sound of music. There will be symphonic and concert music for brass instruments and sophisticated light music as well as marches, which have recently begun enjoying increased popularity once more. The performances in Fiss will take place on an open-air stage – whatever the weather. To kick off our musical programme a few pieces will be played in front of Kulturhaus Fiss, then the bands will march and play their way to the stage where the main performances will take place. 9 Jul | 23 Jul | 6 Aug | 20 Aug | 3 Sep Traditional. Modern. Culinary. The Fountain Feast takes place under the ‘Tyrolean and Culinary’ motto. Starting at 6.30pm, young and old gather together around the village fountain by the bandstand in the centre of the village of Fiss. Savour the day's last rays of sunshine and let the restaurateurs of Fiss indulge you with their Tyrolean specialities. When the band and Fiss' traditional costume group arrive at 8pm and during the subsequent entertainment programme, you will experience Tyrol at close quarters. A DJ will provide an alternative to the traditional music on the bandstand, and you will have the opportunity to take to the stage yourself when the karaoke starts. The ‘Mini&Maxi Club’ provides fun and games for children. We have a sports taster programme so that young people can have a go at a range of cool activities involving bikes, e-bikes and segways.

Treat yourself to the delights of Serfaus' gastronomy with ‘Kiachln’ pastries, long drinks, wine, barbecued food, steaks and much, much more. Try local specialities and products straight from the farm. Local crafts and shopping until 10pm round off Serfaus' ‘Long Night’. The musical entertainments on offer range from folksy to blues, jazz and country & western and is provided by the Serfauser Dorfmusikanten village band as well as others. There's also plenty of entertainment for our little visitors. As in previous years, our Kiddy Stars will be showcasing their talents. Dancing, singing, magic tricks and acrobatics – anything goes, as long as it's fun. Children aged between five and 17 can take part and win great prizes.

A few days ago, he aimed a shot at a hunter who was on his heels. But who is this poacher? Where does he come from? Let yourself be surprised and do make sure you keep a close eye on everything that happens along the way to the Leithe Wirt restaurant. You might just spot the poacher and have a part in catching him ... 13th European Flute Academy. Fiss.

25 Jul – 3 Aug 2013 The European Flute Academy Fiss 2013 is aimed at young professional musicians of all nationalities and offers courses with highly regarded international flautists. The special feature of these courses is that all active participants are given the opportunity of working through the repertoire with all of the instructors. Special piccolo flute classes will also be offered.

You will be driven from the BergDiamant restaurant in a luxurious cross country vehicle and whisked to the mirrored Crystal Cube where you will be served a sumptuous five-course meal – ‘Typical Tyrolean Hot and Cold Dishes’. Go ‘online’ in the Summer Fun Park. Fiss. Fiss is home to one of the first slackline parks in the Alpine region. Slacklining uses nylon or polyester webbing of up to 5cm in width that is tensioned between two anchor points. The aim is to walk on the webbing without touching the ground. This requires a great deal of body control. Slackliners who want to go 'online' in the park have the choice between three slacklines and four levels of difficulty.

Culinary walks. Fiss. Two culinary walks await you on the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis plateau. The moderate day walks lead past the Spinnseen lakes to Schöngampalm where regional and Tyrolean delicacies are served. Culinary walk no. 1 includes a Gourmet Gondola breakfast. The second walk begins on either the Möseralm cable car or the Sunliner cable car. A mountain bike ride to Fiss awaits at the end of either culinary journeys.
