GOURMET DELIGHTS ON BOARD THE MS EUROPA In June, more than 30 top chefs gathered to mark Europa’s Best 2015 on board the MS Europa in Antwerp. Alongside 10 renowned chefs, 20 winemakers, chocolatiers, pastry chefs and cheese makers transformed the ship’s Lido deck into a mile of gourmet delights with over 20 stars to its name. Austria was represented by Kirchberg native and award-winning Simon Taxacher, who treated guests to veal cheeks and the first Tyrolean chanterelles of the season. This was the 11th time that MS Europa’s Head Chef Thorsten Gillert invited the gourmet elite on board the luxury Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ship for the annual event.

Lovers of the gourmet life don’t just sit back and relax, they like to drive, chip and putt too. This was again in evidence this year at Simon Taxacher’s golf tournaments, the Rosengarten Gourmet Golf Trophy 2015 and the ROSENGARTEN INTERNATIONAL OPEN at the Kitzbüheler Alpen Westendorf golf club. After a successful round in Westendorf, it was off to Relais & Châteaux Rosengarten’s legendary Kitchen Party.
GUEST PERFORMANCES / GUEST SPOTS BEWITCHING CUISINE AT SCHLOSS BERG 10 years, 3 stars – a good reason to celebrate, according to Christian Bau. And that’s exactly what he did. In July, more than 360 guests took part in a lavish celebration in the gardens of Victor’s Residenz-Hotel Schloss Berg in Nennig to honour the star chef who – like Simon Taxacher – is a member of the Les Grandes Tables du Monde association. Partners and top chefs followed Bau’s lead and created an unforgettable menu for the guests. Austria’s award-winning Simon Taxacher was joined by Juan Amador, Daniel Achilles, Jacob Jan Boerma, Sven Elverfeld, Jan Hartwig, Daniel Schimkowitsch, Harald Wohlfahrt, Wolfgang Otto, Markus Molitor, Nik Weis and Franz Keller to make the celebration extra special.

A SUMMER NIGHT ON LAKE WÖRTH Simon Taxacher and Hubert Wallner are not just two of the best chefs in Austria. Their careers and passion have resulted in a long-lasting friendship. Back in July, Taxacher was invited to be guest chef at the See Restaurant Saag on Lake Wörth, which provided the perfect ingredients for an incredible gourmet experience. KIRCHBERG: A HOTSPOT ON THE CULINARY MAP 2015 is the year of the first KULINARTIKA in Kirchberg, Tyrol: its very own culinary showcase, which is attracting attention from far beyond the region. The event’s patron is Austria’s award-winning chef Simon Taxacher. A native of Kirchberg, he joined forces with the Kitzbühel Alps and Brixental tourism association as well as 35 local businesses to create a 4-day festival of only the best regional food – from Tyrolean delicacies and rural dishes to award-winning haute cuisine. This is what separates ‘Simon Taxacher KULINARTIKA’ from other gourmet festivals. There is so much to see over the course of the event, including a gourmet food market, tastings of local delicacies, cooking demonstrations, mountain gastronomy and Kirchberg’s Sonnbergmeile Festival. Among the highlights of the extremely varied programme are the gourmet dinners cooked by Simon Taxacher’s guest chefs. The opening night is one to really get your mouth watering, with Konstantin Alexander Filippou (Restaurant Konstantin Filippou, Vienna), Norbert Niederkofler (Restaurant St Hubertus, Relais & Châteaux Rosa Alpina, St Kassian, South Tyrol), Ralf Berendsen (Restaurant La Source, Relais & Châteaux La Butte aux Bois, Lanaken, Flanders, Belgium), Hubert Wallner (See Restaurant Saag, Techelsberg, Carinthia) and Thorsten Probost (Restaurant Griggeler Stuba, Burg Vital Resort, Lech, Vorarlberg). The grand total for Simon Taxacher: 7 Michelin stars, 19 Gault Millau toques, 474 À la Carte points, and a promise for the coming years.
