Your holiday at the Jagdhof...
...an ode to holiday happiness
A holiday is a time to enjoy – that is exactly what we seek to achieve here at the Jagdhof: allencompassing holiday happiness. We make it our top priority!
A holiday for hiking: Summer and autumn in
the Stubai Valley are truly second to none. Unspoilt nature, wonderful forests and Alpine pastures, breathtaking peaks, the Stubai Glacier, first-class hiking trails and picturesque Tyrolean huts for refreshment stops: the perfect conditions for exploring the mountains on foot!
A holiday for events: Events at the Jagdhof are
known for being unforgettable and legendary – this year we welcome back some favourites. Our 17th HD Bike Meeting will be held from 24 June to 1 July. Then, from 9 to 16 September, the hotel will become a ‘paddock’ for passionate Porsche fans at our 911 MEETING. Not forgetting, of course, our Regulars’ Week from 2 to 9 September. Wine connoisseurs should join us from 11 to 14 October for the return of our Wine Days after its tremendous success in January!
A holiday for families: Holidays at the Jagdhof
are holidays for the whole family! Celebrate the BIG Family Summer here. While the kids enjoy action-packed fun and activities under professional supervision in the
Kitz Club and BIG Family Stubai Summer Club, parents benefit from boundless relaxation.
A holiday for indulgence: Savour a delicious breakfast buffet on one of our panoramic terraces while taking in stunning views of the Stubai Glacier. Dive into our jSPA and breathe deeply as you relax and rejuvenate body and mind. Afterwards, it’s time to refuel with a feast for all of the senses in our Hubertus Stube gourmet restaurant. The Falstaff Restaurant Guide 2018 recently awarded it 94 points and three forks, which is three Falstaff points more than last year! Gault&Millau 2018 also gave an exceptionally positive rating: the Hubertus Stube restaurant was once again awarded two toques and 15 points. A holiday for happiness: Leave everyday life behind in the mountains. We’ll ensure your holiday is filled with moments of pure joy – make your holiday your favourite time of the year! We look forward to your visit! Armin and Christina Pfurtscheller

Anyone heading to the Stubai Valley to explore the mountains has a wealth of possibilities at their feet. Whether you’re a leisurely walker, hiker, mountaineer or climber, you will find plenty of trails and destinations to suit you. 109 three-thousanders are waiting to be discovered. 850 kilometres of signposted hiking trails, numerous via ferratas and more than 50 mountain huts open up an Alpine masterpiece, offering total immersion in the charming and breathtaking scenery of the Stubai Valley.

HUTS IN THE STUBAI HIGH TRAIL
STARKENBURGER HUT (2,237m):
FRANZ SENN HUT (2,147m):
The Starkenburger hut above Neustift was built in 1900 by the Starkenburg section of the German Alpine Association. A magnificent panoramic view of the Stubai mountains and its many three-thousanders unfolds from its terrace. The Starkenburg hut is a great starting or destination point for hiking on the Stubai High Trail.
The Franz Senn hut sleeps up to 170 guests and is the largest of the Austrian Alpine Club’s Innsbruck section’s huts. Owned by the Innsbruck section since 1885, the idea of building this hostel was Franz Senn’s, the Austrian priest and mountaineer whose concern for the poverty of his parishioners led him to promote tourism in the region.
SULZENAU HUT (2,191m):
NÜRNBERGER HUT (2,297m):
The Sulzenau hut is a wonderful place to stay if you fancy a few days of authentic Alpine life. Set high in the mountains amongst pastures and pines it is perfect for family nature adventures. We highly recommend an excursion to the Aperer Freiger summit cross (3,262m).
Built in 1886 amid impressive rocks polished by glacial movement, this refuge is as traditional as it gets. Enjoy cosy evenings in the inviting Stuben with delicious food using local produce – including from the landlord’s own farm!

The royal route: Stubai High Trail
The Stubai High Trail is the royal route into the Stubai Alps and one of the most spectacular trails of the entire Alpine region. The route leads from the Starkenburger hut above Neustift to the Innsbruck hut at the foot of the breathtaking Habicht or can alternatively be walked in

NEUE REGENSBURGER HUT (2,286m):
DRESDNER HUT (2,308m):
The Neue Regensburger hut was built in 1930/31 and is situated close to a roaring waterfall on the edge of the picturesque Hohes Moos upland moor. Look westward to admire the Ruderhofspitze – the Stubai Alps’ fourth highest mountain – and, in the east, the magnificent Habicht steals the show.
Built by the German Alpine Association’s Dresden section in 1887 in Fernau, the mountaineers and skiers’ hut was refurbished and modernised in 2008. The hut is located five minutes from the the Stubaier Gletscherbahn midway cable car station.
BREMER HUT (2,413m):
INNSBRUCKER HUT (2,369m):
The German Alpine Association’s Bremen section built this refuge in 1897. The small, rustic hut is a lovely place to spend the night, set in a dreamy landscape of waterfalls, mountain lakes, huge rocks polished by glacial movement and gorgeous plants and animals.
Depending on your direction of travel, this is either the first or last mountain hut on the Stubai High Trail! Located at the intersection between the Stubai and Gschnitztal Valleys, the Egger and Hofer families have been looking after the hut’s guests since 1949.
reverse. The Stubai High Trail is demanding, and mountaineers should not attempt to tackle the route without stamina, surefootedness, a head for heights, the right equipment for Alpine terrain, and knowledge of the potential dangers. Hikers should plan eight days for each direction of the route, which may not pass through
glaciated terrain, but the Stubai Glacier is close enough to touch. An ascent of 4,440 metres and descent of 4,230 metres requires great endurance. In addition, there are around 100 kilometres to cover. Anyone who conquers the Stubai High Trail in one go deserves the ultimate Alpine accolade.

Enchanting spots and easy (themed) trails with impressive sculptures and quotes from the Psalms invite you to stop and contemplate, as you enjoy the magnificent view from the benches. Natural spectacles
The Stubai Valley offers spectacular natural sights which are impossible to overlook. Habicht, Zuckerhütl and Serles are all remarkable and unmissable spots. However, if you look a little deeper, there are many other areas of natural beauty slightly hidden away, which are of major significance to the region – all with countless stories to tell. But you don’t need to ascend thousands of metres to find them, a manageable walk is usually all it takes. These impressive natural beauty spots include the Elfer Gratzengrübel, the Telfer Wiesen, Kartnall and the Eulenweisen. Benches and loungers are available along the way for taking a break.

At the entrance of the Pinnistal, the Neustift meditation trail leads you down a glorious path above the valley floor to the Issenanger Alm. Numerous stations and tablets

Visitors to the sunny mountains of Stubai can follow the tracks of the silent cycles of nature when they take the Geh-Zeiten trails on the Elfer in Neustift. Each of the three routes are dedicated to a natural cycle and add another exciting dimension to the walks on offer in Stubai. Walkers stroll along with the rhythm of the vegetation, the geology and the cosmos, discovering a completely new sense of time and leaving everyday life far behind as they go. The Sonnenzeiten-Weg trail begins at the Alps’ largest accessible sundial. The wooden chronometer with inner diameter of eight metres doesn’t just display the time, it also unlocks impressive views of the Stubai Valley. Different stations along the panoramic route concentrate on the time – from the second to the year. The BlütenzeitWeg trail is themed around the flowers and trees surrounding it, and the Steinzeit-Weg trail – the longest of the three – leads to the Karalm hut and reveals information about the Elfer’s geological zones.
Jagdhof packages the Wilder Freiger (3,418m), the Habicht (3,277m), the Rinnenspitze (3,003m), the Serles (2,717m), the Hoher Burgstall (2,611m) and the Elfer (2,505m). Each summit has a local nickname: ‘The Demure One’ (Zuckerhütl), ‘The Formidable One’ (Wilder Freiger), ‘The Distinctive One’ (Habicht), ‘The Enticing One’ (Rinnenspitze), ‘The Dominating One’ (Serles), ‘The Convincing One’ (Hoher Burgstall) and ‘The Shy One’ (Elfer). So now you don’t have to tour every continent to climb the Seven Summits. Just visit the Stubai Valley instead! View to the Seven Summits Stubai
WildeWasserWeg trail
WildeWasserWeg trail
Water is life, water is spellbinding. Stubai’s spellbinding waters are at the centre of the WildeWasserWeg trail, which runs in three manageable stages from the bank of the Ruetz to the edge of the ‘eternal ice’ of the Sulzenauferner Glacier. A special highlight awaits at the end of the first section: the natural monument of the Grawa waterfall, the widest waterfall of the Eastern Alps. It changes in appearance depending on the quantity of water. Watch the stepped cascades, billowing curtains of water, the roaring and the gushing. This is followed by a rapid ascent to the Sulzegg before heading soon after to the Sulzenau Alm. Then a few switchbacks separate the hikers from the Sulzenau hut, the destination of the second stage. On the third and final stage of the WildeWasserWeg trail, the mountainscape from the Sulzenau hut to the foot of the Sulzenauferner Glacier is arranged like a natural glacier educational trail. Past vast moraine lakes and turquoise mountain lakes such as the Blaue Lacke and alongside smooth, colourful glacial polishes, you arrive at a glacier lake below the Peiljoch ridge. This point is where the wild water bubbles to the surface as it begins its journey into the valley – and also marks the end of our walk. The entire WildeWasserWeg trail takes nearly six hours.

Oenophile masterpieces:
Exclusive Wine Days returns
The tasting of superlative wines continues! From 11 to 14 October, it’s all about oenophile treasures at the Jagdhof as Wine Days is set to take place for the second time!
W
ith the most exclusive wines available for tasting, the highlights of this exquisite weekend will be world-renowned wineries Château Gruaud-Larose from St Julien as well as Château Haut-Brion and Laville HautBrion from Pessac. These exclusive rarities were selected with the help of Bordeaux expert Elke Drescher who will also be presenting the wines on both evening – spiced up with the Jagdhof’s sommelier Albin Mayer’s quirky anecdotes and historical references for each of the selected vintages. To accompany the meal, we will be serving matching table wine from the same region.

Château Gruaud-Larose
On Friday the journey of oenological delights continues to the region of St Julien. At the heart of one of the most beautiful gardens in Médoc lies the picturesque Château Gruaud-Larose, founded in 1757 and classified Deuxième Grand Cru Classé since 1855, the second-highest level of this classification. Today the 129-hectare estate cultivates 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. Vintages from between 1928 and 1986 will be brought to the Jagdhof table.
Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion
With vines averaging 40 years old, Château Haut-Brion has been going for almost 600 years. Magnificently situated on the outskirts of Pessac, Château Haut-Brion is a unique jewel among the wineries of Bordeaux. Its immediate neighbour is the less ancient Château La Mission which, together with Château Haut-Brion, is one of the region’s oenophile hotspots. On Saturday we treat your palate to a range of flavours: from fabulous mature wines to 1990s vintages by La Mission Haut-Brion, Laville Haut-Brion and – as a special treat – Château Haut-Brion.

Culture and shopping
Just a stone’s throw away in Innsbruck
A
nyone holidaying in the Stubai Valley should not forego the cultural attractions of the urban surroundings. Innsbruck is only a 30-minute drive from Neustift. The region’s capital also offers excellent shopping opportunities. A visit to the historic centre and all its highlights is a must for all visitors to Innsbruck. This is where the period of Emperor Maximilian I really comes to life, with the number one attraction most likely to be the Golden Roof. Magnificently decorated with 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles – all still original, the roof forms an alcove balcony constructed around 1500 on behalf of Emperor Maximilian I.
South of the historic centre is the superb Maria-TheresienStrasse with St Anne’s Column as the centrepiece. It’s perfect for a relaxed stroll and a spot of shopping. Serious shopping fans will love the stylish Kaufhaus Tyrol, which is the best in the local area. The southern end of Innsbruck’s main shopping street between the Patscherkofel and Nordkette mountains forms the Triumphal Arch. This ancient monument has witnessed the history of the twice Olympic city. St Jacob’s Cathedral, the Imperial Palace and the Court Church are other historic attractions in

Innsbruck worth paying a visit. The socio-political, religious and natural history of Tyrol comes to life at the Tyrol Panormama Museum at Bergisel. The huge circular painting captures the Tyrolean fight for freedom over 1,000sqm with fascinating 360-degree views. The Bergisel: this majestic new ski jump sits proudly on the historic mountain, where 200 years ago Tyrolean farmers won three battles under Andreas Hofer against the Bavarian and French occupying powers. Created in 2002 by prominent Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the jumping platform has become Innsbruck’s architectural landmark. The Café im Turm is situated 47 metres up high and offers a stunning 360-degree panorama. If animals are more to your taste than art, history and architecture, you’ll enjoy a visit to Innsbruck’s Alpenzoo. No other zoo in the world has such an extensive collection of wild animals from the Alpine region. Theatre and music enthusiasts will love the top-class performances taking place every week at the Tiroler Landestheater, the Congress and the city’s fantastic small stages!
