He personally watches over his treasures from around the world, and is in charge of selecting wine with his team of sommeliers. Their passion has established a cellar that is rightly considered one of the best in the country. And that’s not all. The wine list has also achieved international acclaim, most recently from the British magazine ‘The World of Fine Wine’, which annually tests the wine lists of the world’s leading hotels and restaurants. In 2015 the magazine awarded three stars – its highest accolade – to the Relais & Châteaux SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof. The World's Best Wine List awards are deemed to be the most prestigious on the sommelier scene – comparable in importance only to the Gault Millau toques and Michelin stars conferred on top chefs.

Exclusive rarities Among the gems in the Jagdhof's cellar are some rare Bordeaux wines from the 1982, 1986, 1989 and 1990 cult vintages, as well as much older and rarer vintages. The vaults also house bottles of Burgundy’s Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, known to aficionados as DRC. For many years, the Jagdhof has been the recipient of a fixed allocation of the famous Romanée-Conti Grand Cru. The average annual production is 3,500 bottles – for the entire world market! By comparison, Mouton-Rothschild fills around 300,000 bottles per year (!) of their famous first

The morning begins with a lavish buffet: seasonal fruit, freshly pressed juices, homemade yoghurts, jams and local honey, a wide variety of cheeses, delicious bread made with locally milled flour, pastries and cakes, freshly prepared egg dishes, and the finest cold cuts to help guests jumpstart their day. At lunchtime there is a choice between a sumptuous meal and a light à la carte snack, while in the afternoon the sweet seduction of strudel and cakes is included in the half board. We give you full culinary freedom – because who knows in the morning what the evening will bring?

In the evening, richly atmospheric wood-panelled rooms provide the perfect environment for enjoying dinner with a choice of dishes for each of the (several) courses, as well as a salad buffet and wide range of cheeses. The tri-cable gondola is the longest of its type to be built in the Alps: the project has entered the history books as the largest single investment made by a ski resort. The 3S Eisgrat cable car sets new standards as it covers a distance of 4.7km with 48 state-of-the-art cabins designed by Pininfarina. The new cable car is able to carry 3,000 passengers per hour to their destination at 2,900m above sea level in just under 11 minutes. On 22 October, the brand new 3S Eisgrat cable car makes its maiden voyage! A complimentary shuttle service to and from the Stubai Glacier is provided for Jagdhof guests.

Ski bonanza Looking for even more fun on your skis? The Stubai Valley has three further ski areas: Schlick 2000 is a family-friendly ski resort with plenty of rustic refreshment stops, the Elfer offers challenging natural snow slopes, and the Serles resort is a real treat for winter hikers.

Eisgrat

Elfer On the magnificent Elfer mountain, excellent natural snow slopes and a stunning winter landscape invite visitors to ski, snowboard and toboggan. Just a 10-minute walk from the Jagdhof, this small but challenging resort offers an 8-seat gondola and two ski lifts, a wonderful forest descent down into the valley and Tyrol’s two longest natural toboggan runs at 8km each.

Serles cable cars

Enjoy skiing and winter fun in Serles for magnificent natural surroundings without the hustle and bustle of large ski resorts. Serles is located in Mieders, just a 15-minute drive from the Jagdhof. Climb 1,680m to find perfectly prepared slopes in a sunny forest location, toboggan runs and magical winter hikes through snow-covered forests to sights such as Maria Waldrast, Europe’s highest abbey.

Schlick 2000 The Schlick 2000 ski resort in Fulpmes is just a 14-minute drive from the Jagdhof. With 18km of natural snow slopes to suit all levels of ability, the family-friendly ski resort offers numerous refreshment stops, a free nature park for snowboarders and freeskiers, a 2.4km snow-covered descent – the longest in the Stubai Valley, and much more.

An open-air spectacular

Gaia Stubai – the plot The story tells of an Earth threatened with extinction. Over-industrialisation, pollution, greed and corruption rule the world where a dark army is set to seize power. One woman (Gaia or Mother Earth) and her son resist their fate. Gaia escapes the extermination and enslavement of the human race. With her son – Earth’s saviour, and the last free humans, Gaia flees to the Stubai Valley, where together they conquer the dark tyrants and free the human race from the curse of this hatred.

Première on 17 February 2017 Gaia Stubai – Mother Earth will be performed on Friday, 17 February 2017 at the Sonnenberglift in Neustift, not far from the SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof. A second performance takes place on 24 February. Tickets cost €45 for adults and €9 for children under 15. Entry is free for children under 10 accompanied by a parent. Enrique Gasa Valga Gasa Valga was born in Barcelona. His international dance career has taken him to places such as Cuba, Scotland, Mannheim and Karlsruhe before leading him to settle in Innsbruck. Since 2009, he has been running the successful dance company at the Tiroler Landestheater. Why did he decide to produce the complex and unique Gaia Stubai – Mother Earth? ‘It’s the setting. In a theatre, I have a limited space in which to realise my ideas. Here in Neustift, the space seems endless.’
