The Relais & Châteaux SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof celebrates its 40th birthday in 2017, which is why this year is so special to us. Since Leo & Margot Pfurtscheller opened the Jagdhof back in 1977, the hotel has undergone many architectural changes as it evolved into one of Tyrol’s largest, loveliest, most award-winning, luxury, holiday and SPA destinations. Some things, however, remain unchanged: now, as 40 years ago, the Jagdhof remains the Stubai Valley’s only 5-star hotel. Another source of great pride: the hotel is still family owned. One valley, 109 three-thousanders, 850km of signposted hiking trails, more than 50 mountain huts â&#x20AC;&#x201C; what more could your Alpine loverâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s heart desire? Walks in the Stubai Valley range from easy to challenging, from gentle strolls to strenuous uphill climbs: with its clean, mountain air and lush meadows, this is one of the most beautiful natural leisure areas in the Alps! Alpine Plant Trail

hat plants grow at altitudes above 2,000m? How do they thrive in the harsh mountain climate? Get answers to these questions and many more on the fascinating Alpine Plant Trail. This easy circular walk takes around one hour to complete, so the whole family gets to enjoy it! The Alpine Plant Trail starts and ends at Schlick 2000’s upper terminus. Discover nature and the amazing diversity of the Alpine flora: pioneer plants, flower meadows, pasque flowers, silver thistles, Alpine roses, gentian, moss campion and creeping pine are just some of the botanical highlights you can expect on this fun and informative family trail. You’ll find detailed plant descriptions along the path.

Glacier Trail

fantastic family adventure hike in the ‘eternal ice’! Get amazing views of the Stubai Alps as soon as you set off on the cable car ride to the upper terminus at 2,900m above sea level – where the safe and signposted glacier path starts. The walk to the Jochdohle restaurant, the region’s highest at 3,150m above sea level, takes around one and a half hours. Find out more about glaciers during one of the daily information sessions that are held here – you can also borrow an audio guide for your hike. The TOP OF TYROL viewing platform is a highlight of this walk, and only a 15-minute walk from the restaurant. The additional quarter of an hour’s walk is worth the effort as the views are simply breathtaking!

Pilgrims’ Trail

he Quo Vadis pilgrimage trail from Innsbruck Cathedral to Maria Waldrast Abbey is a 21-kilometre path that leads through the Tyrolean villages of Natters, Mutters, Telfes and Mieders. In the district of Mieders you come across the ‘Kapellenweg’ with its 15 rosary chapels thought to have been built in the second half of the 17th century. This is a popular place of pilgrimage with a long history, the first pilgrimages to Maria Waldrast took place in 1429. Hippocrates (460-375 BC) was right – ‘Walking is the best medicine’. This is the promise of this contemplative walk!

Schlick 2000 Nature Trail

fabulous, family-friendly day out: children have fun and enjoy learning about the rocks, flora and fauna of the Stubai Alps on the Nature Trail. The easy walk is suitable for pushchairs and takes a leisurely one and a half hours. As it leads you through Swiss pine forests, mountain pine scrubland and Alpine meadows, various stops offer information on the area’s fascinating natural history. The trail starts at Schlick 2000’s Kreuzjoch mountain station.

Stubai High Trail

or experienced mountaineers: the Stubai High Trail is one of the Alps’ most beautiful highaltitude trails. The nearly 100-kilometre Stubai High Trail requires stamina, surefootedness, basic fitness, a head for heights and the right equipment. If these conditions are met, the Alpine path offers a spectacular eight-day mountain experience with an 8,000m elevation gain. The high-altitude hiking trail leads exclusively through Alpine terrain, and some sections are secured by steel cables. These climbs should only be attempted by surefooted and experienced mountaineers with the appropriate equipment. The route avoids glaciers, but you should expect to encounter steep snow fields, especially early in the season. Always get the latest weather information and take it into account when you plan your hike!

A Stubai Alpine Herb Walk

wonderful excursion into ‘nature’s pharmacy’, this easy and pushchair-friendly walk takes you along wide forest paths, through shady pine forests and across Alpine meadows. Set off from the centre of Milders towards Auffangalm. As you follow the path uphill, you catch breathtaking views of the Oberbergtal’s pristine Alpine pastures. Discover Alpine herbs such as eyebright, mountain arnica, buckhorn and Alpine catsfoot along the way. The Auffangalm hut is reached in approximately two hours. After a break for refreshments, you continue along a flat forest road to Bichlhof where you are greeted with a well-earned glass of Stubai herb schnapps. The tourism association also offers guided walks with herbalists.

gentle walk, suitable for families with children, older family members and anyone who loves spectacular views that can be reached quickly and easily. The path is 500m long, wheelchair accessible and leads from the Schlick 2000 ski resort’s upper cable car terminus to the Stubai Blick viewing platform at 2,160m above sea level. Along the way, walkers can rest on beautifully crafted seats created by local artists. When you get to your destination, it’s time to simply stand and stare at the amazing sight of the nearby Kalkkögel mountain chain. When visibility is good you can even admire views of the Wilder Kaiser and the Zillertal Alps.
