Dear ISNS Student-Athletes,

For months, we faced an opponent that wore no uniform. As Phoenix athletes, you took on this opponent with the fierceness we would expect from our studentathletes. I believe you have proven that despite the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, you are all strong and resilient.

I commend all of you for pushing through these unusual circumstances and continuing to make the most of a truly difficult time. Our coaches and staff still worked hard, focusing on caring for each of you during this time as well as skill development and conditioning.

The spring season was a highlight for many student athletes as they could compete with other schools around Shenzhen. High School soccer saw the Phoenix break new ground on and off the field. The high school girls finished the season, equal top of the table at ACAMIS only to finish second on goal differential, whist the boys have a young team and plenty of talent to work with. MS girls’ volleyball also provided another season highlight as they rounded out the season unbeaten SISAC Champions! A great way to send off long time coach K. Rutherford.

Phoenix athletics has a bright future with many young students ready to step into the spotlight and take their opportunity. To the outgoing seniors, you have built on the legacy of what it means to be a Phoenix student athlete. I thank you for your contributions and wish you all the best.
