Its great to see our new coaching group manage the performance group of players, led by Scott Sneddon our Head Coach, supported by Alex White, our new National League Head Coach, Martin Webdale, Anthony Allen and Nigel Hall. After a successful year last year with promotion for BUCS 2, our Development group are also shaping up nicely, with James Peters continuing to take the reigns.
All the best, and good luck to everyone today!

Our opponents today are a familiar one, now joining us as the only two student teams in the league. Exeter have proved to be a strong side in the league so far, picking up 2 wins from 2 with maximum points.
Our memberships and season tickets are now live on the website! It would be great to have you as members of the club, and your support ensures we continue to develop the next generations of players and staff.

RHYS EDWARDS DIRECTOR OF RUGBY
Today sees us play our first fixture at home, following to away trips in Rounds 1 and 2, in which we picked up 1 win (Stourbridge) and a narrow loss (Clifton). The squad is looking sharp and keen to getting back on home soil this weekend.
Welcome all to Loughborough University, where we host Exeter Students RFC in National 2 West. It’s great to see everyone back in The Boro, supporting the boys and we look forward to meeting all our new faces.

42-13 lead at the interval. The challenge was then to ensure the result was seen through to the end, and a smart, well executed kicking game ensured that Stourbridge were limited in their opportunities, with no quarter given to allow them back into the game.
2 second half tries (from Alfie Scopes and Fergus Dick) helped to maintain a comfortable winning margin, taking the final score to 54-25 in our favour.

After a physical and close encounter over at Clifton to open the 2022-23 national league campaign, the students took to the road again, this time heading for Stourbridge for our 2nd game of the season.
Last weekend saw the opportunity to bring our club together and show our respects for her majesty the Queen who sadly passed last Thursday. We thank the RFU for giving us the opportunity to play and show our respects in this way.
With a 5 point win under a belt, and plenty of areas to improve upon, we take much confidence from the game and head into our home opener against Exeter University full of determination to raise our performance levels in what is sure to be an exciting affair.

Stourbridge came into the game off the back of a heavy defeat away to Redruth in round 1, and so we expected a reaction from them in their home opener. This however was addressed perfectly by the students who were absolutely ruthless in the first 40 Despiteminutes.ahighpenalty count, the students were able to largely control and dictate the opening half, and 6 first half tries from only 7 entries to the oppositions 22 (including a brace from Teddy Leatherbarrow) saw a healthy

10 LOUGHBOROUGH STUDENTS RFC V EXETER STUDENTS RFC
Our first home game of the season doubles up as the first all-student clash in National League history (as far as we’re aware). In a league with a lot of new fixtures for The Boro, Exeter present themselves as an all too familiar foe. The timing of the fixture is also of particular interest; with BUCS Super Rugby a couple of weeks away, both sides currently only have one competition to focus on rather than the usual 2. Exeter are coming off a fantastic 2021/22 season, having won SouthWest Premier at a canter alongside being crowned BUCS Super Rugby Champions in one of the most

competitive seasons yet. As we know at The Boro, student rugby comes with the challenges of many players moving on each year. However, it doesn’t appear to have had a huge impact on Exeter having started the season with 2 convincing wins against local rivals Barnstaple and Redruth.
As a fellow student side, Exeter Alumni will litter the National Leagues, as well as the professional game. Joining The Boro in proving the value of student rugby to the overall health of the game. It is a pleasure to welcome them to Epinal Way for the first time on a Saturday.
