Welcome The Institute for Diplomacy and International Governance offers unrivalled insight into the key challenges and opportunities that arise as old paradigms and models of global order continue to expose their limitations.

From questions of international business, trade and management to the matter of the UK’s global role, we address the pressing contemporary issues of today’s and tomorrow’s world.
You will work collaboratively with academic staff and each other to enrich your studies, and will have the opportunity to become experts in topical issues such as the repercussions of the UK’s exit from the EU.
Our programmes are designed to expose you to many different aspects of contemporary diplomacy and international governance. Experts from academia, government and industry will share their insights (and secrets, in some cases) to guide and support your own discoveries and learning.

Outstanding campus Loughborough University London operates inside an 8,500m² collaborative learning space, providing state-of-the-art equipment and materials to ensure knowledge, research and creativity can thrive. As a postgraduate student with us, you will gain 24-hour access to all of our facilities, including our campus library, which holds over 9,000 books, journals and papers. A further 1.2 million resources can also be found online.
You will also have access to cutting-edge technology, including over 150 laptops available to hire, high-powered CAD computers, wide format printers, 3D printers, laser cutters and much more.

Academics from the Institute for Diplomacy and International Governance offer research expertise and experience in a wide range of subject areas. They are extremely wellnetworked with professionals outside of academia in their respective fields.
• The European Union (including its institutions; member state domestic politics; EU-Russia relations; the EU as a foreign policy actor; Brexit and its effect on the UK, the rest of the EU)
In some cases, the Institute can provide joint supervisory arrangements with colleagues from other Loughborough University London institutes and from departments at Loughborough University’s East Midlands campus.

This programme This programme provides an extensive overview of the practice and development of international business and economic diplomacy. The challenges of trading in the global village, and the multiple communities and markets driving world commerce through new and old trade routes are dissected in this programme. You will learn in an environment that is tailormade to develop the skills needed to critically understand globalisation, and the knowledge of the current issues characterising relations between diplomacy, international business, and international trade.

Graduates of this programme will be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in diplomatic service for government or intergovernmental organisations, as well as in non-governmental and the commercial sectors. This programme New for 2019, our Risk, Governance and International Management MSc represents a joint degree from the Institute for Diplomacy and International Governance and the Institute for International Management. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of the strategies used by multinational companies and other organisations to manage risks arising from their environment. You will acquire the increasingly valuable knowledge and skills required to identify, evaluate and respond to risks facing multinational organisations of various kinds, operating in a rapidly changing global context. 14
We will examine how such organisations navigate opportunities and challenges arising from changes in international economic governance, foreign policy and international politics and diplomacy. Whether your goal is to lead your own global business or other enterprise, or support the success of an existing organisation, you will be encouraged to make the most of the campus’ iconic location to build professional relationships with organisations in London that interest you the most. Security, Peace-Building and Diplomacy MSc

This programme This programme explores the link between national and global security and the role of peace-building in developing multi-layered communities and nations. You will benefit from specialised, systematic and in-depth study focused on the relationship between diplomacy and international security and peace-building.
Graduates of this programme will be ready to pursue a career in diplomacy, traditional and otherwise, particularly in the areas of international security and peace-building. Graduates will also have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and career prospects further by undertaking an MPhil or PhD programme.
You will utilise appropriate theories, concepts and methods associated with this area, while exploring the relationships between development and peace-building, civil-military relations, cyber security, as well as the wider global security context in which politics, trade and conflict occur. 15
