Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Students wishing to study certain undergraduate courses at Loughborough University may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate. This scheme aims to help stop the spread of knowledge and skills that could be used in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their means of delivery. It is specifically designed to ensure that those applying for Masters-level study in certain sensitive subjects do not acquire knowledge that could potentially be used in the development of WMD.
Courses that are included in the scheme are listed opposite. You will need to obtain an ATAS certificate before applying for a student visa or extension if you wish to study one of these courses.
