Before applying:

Attending one of our Open Events is the best way to start. Getting a feel for the College and exploring the subjects you are interested in will help you gain a better understanding of what it’s like to be a student at Hereford Sixth Form College. Take the time to speak to current students to hear what subjects they have chosen and what life is really like at Hereford Sixth Form College. Our friendly ‘Ask Me’ students attend every open event and are ready to answer any of your questions and take you through a day in the life of a College student.

CONSIDER YOUR PATHWAY

Take a look at our ‘Vocational Pathways’ guide on our website. This will give you plenty of inspiration about course combinations, careers, Higher Education and Apprenticeships. Discuss your ideas with parents/guardians, teachers, or the careers advisor at school. If there are questions that your teachers or careers adviser can’t answer, then you could ask them to contact us, or you can email our Admissions team directly.

ATTEND A TASTER DAY

Taster days give you a feel for what a day at Hereford Sixth Form College would be like. Students select 3 subjects of their choice to get more of an in-depth insight into the subjects they may choose. These events provide an additional opportunity for you to ask questions about the subjects you are considering taking or any other questions you may have about becoming a Hereford Sixth Form College student.

OPEN EVENTS AT HEREFORD SIXTH FORM COLLEGE

After applying:

Apply online at www.hereford.ac.uk. The official deadline is 17th February, but we accept applications until September.

INTERVIEWS

After completing your application you will be invited to an interview. This may be over the telephone or a one-to-one interview at your school. Here we will make sure that your course choices match your aspirations for the future and we will discuss any support needs you may have. Your offer is not dependent on the discussions during the interview and you will not be assessed. The purpose of the interview is to discuss your course choices and to make sure they will support any progressions plans you may have. During the interview, you can ask about enrichment opportunities, such as the Extended Project Qualification or Sport Academies.

ENROLMENT

After receiving your GCSE results in the Summer, you will be invited to the College for an Enrolment appointment. At Enrolment, we can confirm your programme of study and you can pick up all the information you will need to start in September 2023. If you do not get the grades you expected, we will still encourage you to attend your appointment, as this is an opportunity to review your programme of study with experienced staff.
