Performing Arts is a course, which aims to give students an insight into the world of performance training. This course is designed for the student wishing to follow a career path in theatre or entertainment. Acting is a course which will provide students with the opportunity to develop their performance skills in a variety of different performance styles. This subject is designed for students who are looking for a career in theatre.

PERFORMING ARTS

NATIONAL FIRST AWARD • LEVEL 2 (BTEC) The course will give you the opportunity to develop skills within the Performing Arts sector. Throughout this course, you will develop both theoretical and practical skills. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Four GCSEs at grade 3. WHAT NEXT Progression to Level 3 course.

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE/NATIONAL EXTENDED CERTIFICATE • LEVEL 3 (BTEC) No previous acting experience is required, just the energy, commitment and desire to succeed!

PERFORMING ARTS

NATIONAL FOUNDATION DIPLOMA/NATIONAL EXTENDED DIPLOMA • LEVEL 3 (BTEC) Students are encouraged to work independently and as a company to create a vast array of performances, not only as performers but as directors. You will be taught dance, acting and voice work, how to run a show from start to finish and take your own production on tour. UCAS TARIFF POINTS AVAILABLE

HIGHER NATIONAL CERTIFICATE • LEVEL 4 This course equips students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to enable students to become professional performers and theatrical practitioners, or progress to university. You will explore acting for the camera and musical theatre, movement for the actor, devising performance and applied contemporary performance practice. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Completed one of the following: BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Merit), Access to HE course, A Level(s) at C or above in a relevant subject We will also encourage and consider applicants who possess a high level of experience in performing but may not have formal qualifications. All offers are subject to an interview and audition. WHAT NEXT University – BA/BSc top up. Working professionally as an actor, performer, in production, theatre or event management, as a teacher or drama coach.

HNCS Many students find HNCs a far more affordable option than attending university. Fees are reviewed each year but the course costs roughly half the amount of university tuition. Student loans are available through Student Finance, England. See page 42.
