My Sparsholt Journey

My name is Darren Filler and I recently completed a City & Guilds L2 Award in Welding Skills at Sparsholt College.

What really made Sparsholt stand out was the outstandingly high levels of qualifications that their lecturer had. I feel that if you want to be the best, then learn from the best! The whole welding team were very helpful and well informed.

On the first day I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but I was quickly made to feel relaxed when I saw the friendliness of the group. We all worked as a team and it couldn’t have been a better place to learn. When I struggled with the theory side, Davina took as long as was needed to help me through – I have never come across a more knowledgeable, friendly and caring teacher in my life.

Because of this, I not only reached every goal, but surpassed it – I actually achieved 100% in the mocks, something I had never done in my life.

Thanks to the Sparsholt team I have already secured a job with a bright future where all the skills I learnt are put into practice daily. I can confidently say that my work has massively improved and my welding is not only presentable but of a professional standard. I also know that when one of my pieces of work drives off down the road, the skills I learnt at Sparsholt will keep people safe. That makes me very proud.
