Psychology and Sociology

Social Sciences are the study of society and the way in which people behave and influence the world around us. It helps explain how society works whether it be the creation of youth subcultures or explaining the complexities of human mind.

PSYCHOLOGY

GCSE • LEVEL 2 This course introduces you to the five main areas of psychology and research methods used in psychological investigations. You should have a genuine interest in explaining human behaviour, and consequently have the ability to apply what you learn in class to your own situation. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Five GCSEs at grade 9–3, including English. WHAT NEXT After studying this subject you can move on to study any of our Level 3 courses.

A LEVEL • LEVEL 3 Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. You will gain an understanding of the process of planning, conducting, analysing and reporting psychological research.

SOCIOLOGY

A LEVEL • LEVEL 3 Sociology enables us to study human society. The content of sociology allows for an understanding of many different cultures and identities.

APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE/NATIONAL EXTENDED CERTIFICATE • LEVEL 3 (BTEC) This subject will enable you to understand the relationship between behaviour, performance and mental processes.
