Derby Eating & Drinking Guide

This pocket-sized book has been created to shine a light on Derby’s booming food and drink sector. It’s an easy-to-use guide to introduce you to some of the best of what we have to offer. Derby is first and foremost a business city. Home to world giants such Bombardier, Rolls-Royce and Toyota, plus scores of SMEs, the city attracts thousands of business visitors each week. Our weekend visitor economy is growing too, due to the success of festivals such as Format and Feste, plus easy access to the Peak District. Add to this the 750,000 people who live within 30 minutes of the city centre and you can see why so many establishments are popping up across town. We have included almost an eclectic collection of 50 of the best restaurants and pubs, most of which are independents and unique to Derby. Many of the restaurants are award-winners and some recognised as being among the best in their fieldin the UK. The Lonely Planet describes Derby as the UK’s Real Ale capital and the listed pubs have an offer radically different from the tied brands.

ANOKI The Times describes Anoki as a top ten Indian restaurant in the UK. Sea bass, salmon and king prawns direct from the clay tandoor are served beneath the gilded vaulting of the old Derby Picture Hall.
