The finer things

The office culture of today means that for many of us spending more time outdoors whenever we can is incredibly important. The region harbours some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes and living here makes it easy to step outside and take full advantage of what it has to offer.

Miles of heritage coastline surrounds the Humber and offers wellmarked walking routes, as well as the opportunity to try a huge range of water sports such as windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, jet skiing or kitesurfing, to name just a few. And for those that prefer to stay on dry land, the stunning Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Wolds are the perfect setting to spend the afternoon outdoors.

Whether you love to walk, run, hike, cycle or horse ride the Wolds have something for everyone. For horse lovers there are miles of bridal paths throughout the region just waiting to be explored. East Yorkshire offers 4 polo clubs alone, including White Rose Polo Club just a mile from Market Weighton and The Beverley Polo Club which hosts the prestigious Yorkshire Nations Cup.

The region also offers a fantastic selection of gyms, health and leisure centres with a great choice of classes, as well as swimming facilities, at many. Fitness centres include David Lloyds, JD Gyms, Nuffield Health, Velocity Health & Fitness, Spirit Health Club, as well as several 24 hour gyms located in Hull city centre.

The Wolds are fast becoming famed for their great terrain for road cycling. In Fact, Yorkshire hosted the grand depart of the Tour De France 2014 and has subsequently started Tour de Yorkshire - Yorkshire’s own annual 3 day road cycling race.
