Sunsets on the Chesapeake Bay

4680 Peaceful Shores Drive Jamesville, VA Sunset colors glow all day in this custom designed post and beam contemporary on the Chesapeake Bay. Not too big, not too small, 2300 ft of perfect downsizing or 2nd home fun. 3 bedrooms currently configured as 2 with an open office. Easy to restore to 3 bedrooms. The main bath is a wonder, deck is great for entertaining, and the community pool is a great place to make friends. Enjoy 200 ft of waterfront with over 6,000 boats a year passing by. Crabbers come by around 7, eagles fish just after 9, dolphins jump and hummingbirds slurp all day.

Entry and Living Room The post-and-beam home is a mixture of woods - mahogany, oak, maple and pine. Double doors of carved mahogany open to a wide and gracious foyer with thick tongue-and-groove ceiling planks held in place by sturdy beams and a stunning view of the Chesapeake Bay. Mahogany trim frames the large panes of glass that flood the space with natural light. “It’s beautifully constructed,” says the owner. “It’s all large beams and big pieces of wood.” Because of the post-and-beam construction, none of the interior walls are load-bearing. This means you can reconfigure rooms anyway you might like. The owners decided to remove a wall in the third bedroom and make it into an open office. But putting it back into a bedroom is simple! The bookshelf returns to a closet and the wall goes up again. Done. The fireplace is gas but turn it back to wood if you are a hardy wood chopper.

Enjoy expansive views of the Chesapeake Bay in this roomy owner’s suite with screen door leading to the deck. The bath is total luxury, expecially what the owners call their “carwash” shower. Oh my. Luckily that hot water on demand is perfect for using every last nozzle.

The second bedroom is filled with natural light and allows for privacy for family and guests. The third bedroom, with bay views, has been converted to an office but can easily be turned back for bedroom use.

This home is perfect for entertaining in the dining room with built in art nook or on the deck overlooking the water. The eat in kitchen with gas stove, opens to the deck. Entertaining is a breeze!

Details worth knowing • The house was situated on the lot with a future expansion in mind. But then downsizing became the thing and the owners realized 2,300 feet was just right. They have the plans if you want them. • Should you have a dog who likes to explore, an Invisible Fence has been installed around the house and entrire back yard. It works, it really does. • HVAC is electric and two auxiliary propane heaters keeps it toasty in the winter. • The hot water is tankless on-demand Rinaii system, great for second home folks • There is a whole house water softener • There is an automatic underground sprinkler system • There is an alarm system

.....And did we mention those SUNSETS??

The Bay is sandy and shallow in front of the house, wade out about 75 yards to swim. Not in a flood zone! 200 feet of rip-rapped bulkhead. 5.62 acres of luxurious waterfront privacy
