worthingtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/film HI film lovers, With Summer comes the usual onslaught of blockbusters, sequels and remakes! Although this year actually looks set to be pretty decent for film. There’s a lot that I am really keen to see and very excited about. There’s the double whammy of THE BFG and FINDING DORY. Steven Spielberg adapting Roald Dahl for the big screen is a match made in heaven and Mark Rylance is amazing casting for the giant. Pixar are having the best reviews of their career with the sequel to FINDING NEMO. Later in the summer there’s also the charming remake of SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS and a new interpretation of the Disney classic PETE’S DRAGON starring Robert Redford. So alongside our SATURDAY MORNING PICTURES programme there’s so much for My name is James Tully and families at the Connaught. For action fans we’ll be playing the return of Matt Damon as JASON BOURNE. Bound to be an exciting thrill ride with director Paul Greengrass at the helm. The Paul Feig reboot of GHOSTBUSTERS is looking more and more fun with each trailer we see. THE LEGEND OF TARZAN starts on 8 July and looks really good fun – great cast with Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. Or if you fancy a giggle then there’s the return of some TV favourites. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE brings Patsy & Edina to the big screen and on the run to the south of France. DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD brings back Ricky Gervais’ character from The Office and sees him trying to become a rock star. My Pick
I’m going to cheat and pick two! FINDING DORY just looks absolutely terrific and I’m a big fan of the original. One of my all-time favourite films MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO is playing for Saturday Morning Pictures during the Summer Holidays so I’ll be treating the family to that on the big screen. James Tully Film Officer
I’m the Film Officer for the Connaught Cinema. I’ve worked in cinemas for 16 years and bring my knowledge of the UK film business to the Connaught. We are partnered with Picturehouse so offer the best in alternative & world cinema alongside the blockbusters we all love!
