2022 EXCHANGE PLACE KINGSPORT, TN VISITOR CENTER

Concept : Construction Drawings

The premise of this project was to understand Rudlof Schindler’s King Road House by developing the contruction drawings of the house through plan, elevation, section, and wall detail.

The new visitors center is a public facility serving as an Introduction to the exchange place living history farm. It supplements the existing array of buildings across the site by providing flexible spaces for education, exhibition, Special events, and visitor services. The visitors center should be clearly identifiable as people approach exchange place. It should also define its immediate, surrounding site design as a response to pedestrian access and outdoor program. An accessible, public second story is required for the visitors center. The visitor center is divided in to two seperate masses that are organized in an L -shape .The central space is left open to allow a new circulation path in the site.
