Mark Semple has been a leading player in international medical tourism since 2008. Mark founded Passport Medical in 2008 out of a personal experience and, with a partner, helped grow this company to become one of the leading medical tourism facilitators globally.
He was the recipient of the 2011 Leadership Excellence In Medical Facilitation award as a top global healthcare professional in 2011 at the World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress. He is now the president of the Fertility Solutions International based in Vancouver, Canada, an A+ rated Better Business Bureau accredited company, including its Chinese division www.usabbabyathome.com.
Mark has had extensive experience in working with healthcare professionals in over a dozen countries and with clients from over 15 countries and from every continent. In addition to facilitating thousands of more mainstream procedures like cardiovascular, orthopedic, cosmetic, dental, and ophthalmology treatments, he has a keen interest in the early identification of emerging niche markets in medical tourism being driven by factors such as prohibitive domestic regulations.
Many countries, either through prohibitive laws or pricing, have market segments which are well positioned for medical tourism. In addition, certain niche areas have support groups, social media groups, blogs, etc which can provide excellent avenues for communicating with intended audiences and driving patient volume. One of his main areas of current interest and expertise lies in specialized cross border fertility treatments and he has been the pioneer of several national programs in the field for foreigners.
He and his clients have been featured numerous times in international media and have also been the subject of one documentary. Mark is also the subject of a potential television series in North America called “Babies Inc. dealing with global fertility patients. Mark has been a frequent speaker at various international conferences including at the 2011 World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress in Chicago on Becoming A Medical Tourism Facilitator.
He was a keynote speaker at the 2011 Medical Travel International Business Summit in San Jose, Costa Rica on New Markets In Medical Tourism. He was also a keynote speaker at the 2012 International Medical Tourism Summit in Taipei, Taiwan on Why People Travel For Medical Care where he provided 3 real life examples by bringing 3 orthopedic surgery patients to have treatment in Taiwan and speak at the conference.
