Without doubt the year 2008 emerged to one of the most exciting steps in my life. After 16 years of being an employee I left BIKE-Magazine Germany to capitalize on being a freelance photographer. Now I have the possibility to realize what I wished for a long time: Working in the mountains, with people who have the same passion like me: mountain biking and every kind of outdoor sports. Not least I want to thank all the people and companies who trusted in me and have made my new period of life possible. Discerning, stubborn – who would have thought that the former test-director of BIKE-Magazine Germany would become one of the outstanding mountain bike photographers. Listening to a late-calling, he was not willing to just forget the last 15 years of his career rather he chose to use them as a stepping-stone in a second career. Markus knows the sport and the scene like no other. His eye for finding the fitting motif is impeccable, his timing for the precise moment uncanny. The experimental pleasure is chaotic genius; it is the creative power of the ever restless that characterizes his photographs.Yet his perseverance can be tedious. The perfect picture -no more, no less- is his goal. It is a goal everyone must underlie. Markus Greber is one of the hour’s first freeriders, as test-director of Europe’s largest mountain bike magazine he had a major influence on how bike technology developed.
