does any one have any tips on ice fishing for bass? Ive been out ice fishing a couple of times on this pond that has bass, perch and trout. I catch some trout every now and then, and the perch are almost a nuisance. Im really trying to catch the bass, but its very slow. anyone have any tips?
LMBassFish answers: What bait/lure are you using? Minnows or Shad should catch some Bass in a short amount of time. Bass will readily take Beetle Spins, Curly Tailed Grubs and Plastic Worms through the ice. For bait, i would stick with minnows or shad. You could use night crawlers also, but if they’re bluegills in the pond they’ll get ‘em before the bass. Hope i helped ya out.

How can i catch small largemouth bass? For example, like 1 – 3 inches. I want to make them grow then let them go. I was just wondering how to catch them because there is a lot of them in the park near i live.

LMBassFish answers: You might want to check and make sure you are allowed to take them out of the water first but—> Use a tiny hook. Like a salmon egg hook. Size 16 or so. LMBassFish answers: I’ve caught the most fish on nightcrawlers and a medium sized hook. (bass, perch, bluegill, drum, walleye, even a couple catfish!)

They are starting early may,I go off the rocks, you can choose any method there I use Ragworm normally. Mullet and Bass often come in close to feed on insects that thrive on the washed up weed that gathers in the inlets. It is worth turning over the weed and throwing great armfuls of it into the sea during late afternoon to release the insects into the water. Then use a 8-9 weight fly rod and grub shaped fly. Big Bass, large Wrasse, terrific night Congers – come from the most difficult and dangerous rocky sections of the Bill, where beginners or anglers not accustomed to rock fishing should never venture. Portland Bill’s tides rip around the rocks ferociously, the rocky points themselves are often precarious, and unless you have equipped yourself for climbing and rock fishing, and have mastered the techniques required, it is safest to stay away from these places alternitivle if you know the area go to stone pier or chesil beach both are good for bass
