What Has Been Your Best Method For Catching Carp? I need some help from all my fellow anglers out there about catching Carp.As some of you know & have seen the pics of my other catches of Bass & Bluegill in the pond I fish in,I have yet to snag one of the huge Carp there.I’ve been trying just about all I know & still none caught to post.I’ve almost been tempted to jump in & wrestle one in! lol But that just wouldn’t be fishing. So,my question is, what baits or lure have you used that were successful? Any other technique that proved useful? We’re going tomorrow & any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance & happy fishing all!

LMBassFish answers: Hi carol if you cook some toast and put it in a polythene bag when its cooling down it goes rubbery then cut it up into inch squares and put your hook through the middle of the crust through the bread until the hook comes out the other side then turn the hook to latch over the edge it will stay on the hook and you can cast it with a drift controller up to a good 80 yards. I use this method on my local lake and fish the far bank where the carp sunbath and generally hang around the pieces of toast with no crust i use as freebees if the wind is in the right direction it drifts to the far bank i also do the same with a loose running bomb so the toast sits on the surface you can also fish into a bay if the wind is blowing into it the fish will follow the freebees right into the bank. Otherwise use dog and cat biscuits throw loads in wait until the fish stop checking to see if there are hooks in the bait when the fish are taking several biscuits one after another then its time to cast. The night before you go fishing put a load of biscuits in a poly bag with some water shake well drain the excess water off tie the bag up and shake them several times to stop them sticking together this way the biscuits will hook straight onto your hook they should be light and fluffy and not too wet. Carp also love dog and cat meat . All of the above are very good and work very in the evenings

Linda asks…

Is there a website showing fly fishig flies that go with each fish type? I want to catch bass, trout, perch, bluegill, sunny…. Just want to have good flies. Thanks

LMBassFish answers: You need to get flies that look like bugs of your region.. It’s not relative to the type of fish, it’s relative to the type o bugs you have where you will be fishing.

I’m new to lure fishing, what are some good lures? I’m new to fishing and only have a little under a dozen fishing lures. I have a couple spinners, a few top water lures, and some small/medium crankbait lurers. Have any lure suggestions? Looking for some that are good for catching bass, bluegill, sunfish, and perch.

LMBassFish answers: I will do my best with this one. If you are pond fishing I only take these lures when fishing ponds. 1. H&H single spinner spinner bait in black and gold and white and black. (just remember to put the hooks on before use) 2. Heddon tiny torpedo in clear or frog colored. 3. Rapala broken tailed minnow in Black top tan bottom or black top silver bottom 4. Smithwick Devils horse again I like a frog colored in this lure. 5. Bass Assasin bag of worms black with pink tail. Plus #3 hooks and 1/4 ounce sinkers. That is basically all I take with me when I am fishing stock ponds. As far as lures go. I do have success with perch but nothing beats live bait for those guys and a plain old bobber. Now if you are planning on lake fishing the tactics and lures are endless on what could be best for your area. Except the live bait recommendation for perch your area could be drastically different. I would go to my local tackle store or your neighborhood Wal-mart and simply ask the sporting goods person what people are buying. Tackle Stores are alot better then Wal-mart due to the fact that chances are they guy working the counter at the bait shop shares your passion to fish and will fish in your local area so he/she should be more kknowledgeable However I have met some true fisherman who work the sporting good section at Wal-mart who are very kknowledgeable
