Your Questions About Fish For Bass
David asks‌
is a diving crank bait good for fishing bass? I bought a crank bait that dives 4-8 feet is this good fishing for bass. I also bought a Rebel Pop-R top water is this lure good for fishing bass too? What is your best lure type?
LMBassFish answers: If you are fishing in a pond then that diving bait isn’t going to catch you any fish unless the bass hits it before it gets tangled and covered in grass and weeds.

What Japanese artificial lures are good presents for American fishing guides? I am Japanese. I will go fishing to Florida next February . I will fish bass in some lakes with fishing guides. I will present some Japanese lures for them. I think it’s a good idea. But I have no ideas what to present. So I want to ask you what kind of Japanese lures are noticed in America? What pleases them ?
LMBassFish answers: Lucky Craft is a good one that almost everyone that makes a living fishing in the United States uses. Ima is another one that has just become available in the USA. Http://www.imalures.com/flit120.php Megabass, Daiwa, Evergreen, Shimano, Imakatsu, any lure from any of those companies that you can get in Japan will be hard if not difficult to get in the United States. I know Lucky Craft has some colors that are not shipped to the USA. A crank bait or top water bait from anyone of those companies I would love to own, or should I say own more of them, so am sure your guide would appreciate them as well.

Can you fish bass with a spinning rod? Can you fish bass with a spinning rod? What is the average weight of a bass? Can you catch speckled trout with a small top water frog? Also what do you think is the best all round fishing rod? What do you thik about a spinning rod, baitcasting rod, and a spincasting rod?
LMBassFish answers: Yes. L’ve gotten them up to 8lb on spin tackle though my preference is baitcasting gear. L don’t use spincast. Topwater frog speckled trout = brook trout, no. Speckled trout = spotted weakfish, no.

Baitcast l use 90% or more of the time. Spinning, the rest. Both have their place and good qualities.

Why do people CONTINUE to fish for bass? I can see why beginner would fish for bass. They are so easy to catch, you have to be careful they don’t sneak into your car as you are leaving. But why do people continue to fish for them? It does provide a focus for lengthy discussions about lures, lines, rods, and reels but, bass would bite on an old shoe. So, that seems pretty pointless. Why don’t these people move on to a fish that’s more challenging? Bass might provide a challenge to a chimp but grown men?

i wanna start making my own lures for freshwater fishing, where do i start? i just will be fishing bass, walleye, anything you can find in a southeast michigan lake, it is a pretty big size lake, i usually fish in the 5-8 foot waters, but sometimes i take a boat out to the drop off. Anyways, where can i go to start making my own lures?
LMBassFish answers: I did this and had pretty good luck with them. Just get some wood it doesn’t really matter what kind but balsa seems to do best. Carve it out however you want it and paint to your suiting. I took some small hooks that have a closed circle on the end of it (can’t think the name of them)

and put two of them on the bottom. I then got some split rings and attached them to the screws with treble hooks on them. You can also put one of the screws on the front to attach your line to. Your now done and have a topwater lure. Mine even caught some bass. Good luck fishin’! Edit: I found a picture of what the screw I was talking about looks like. Again good luck fishin’!
