EVERYTHING WE DO
IS PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER.
EXCELLENCE FAITH LEADERSHIP SERVICE
A These are the pillars of our mission, and you’ll hear them often. They remind us to actively live what we strive for: the search for truth, the discovery and sharing of knowledge, the fostering of personal and professional excellence, the promotion of a life of faith, and the development of leadership expressed in service to others. 4 MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY
Knowledge has power. It can inform the mind and motivate the spirit. As a Catholic, Jesuit university, the search for and sharing of knowledge are important parts of what we do.
ST. JOAN OF ARC CHAPEL dates from 15th-century Europe. It was hauled stone by stone from France and presented to Marquette in 1964. Legend has it that St. Joan of Arc herself touched one of the stones and it remains cooler than the surrounding stones to this day. You’ll have to stop by to find out which stone.
But we’re not just sharing ideas; we’re seeking truth and exploring faith, informing every aspect
21
of your education, career and life. At Marquette,

A
CURA PERSONALIS We provide education and care for each person with respect for his or her unique qualities, gifts and challenges as an individual. MAGIS We strive to help you do more and to be more. AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM For the greater glory of God.
Three Latin terms that have deep meaning in our Ignatian heritage.
Gather at St. Joan of Arc Chapel every Tuesday night for our most popular 10 p.m. Mass to reflect with dozens of other students.

ENJOY EVERY SECOND,
BECAUSE IT’S GOING TO GO FAST. Your life at Marquette will be full of moments you’ll later refer to as, “Remember that one time?” And chances are, lots of those times will be had right here in the heart of campus. Meet up with friends at the AMU, throw a Frisbee on the Central Mall, or bowl a couple games at the Annex.
LATE NIGHT MARQUETTE
An organization whose number one goal is to create stuff to do during late night hours, Late Night Marquette puts on events every week. Between stand-up, cinema, snow tubing, spirit week and so much more, you’ll find plenty of reasons to get into the action.

LIFE ON CAMPUS
STRENGTHENS BODY, MIND AND SOUL. Here, you’ll make lifelong friends, binge on equal amounts of pizza and Netflix, and still find time for homework. Our residence halls are home to over 90 percent of our freshmen and sophomores, and our juniors and seniors live right across the street. You’ll find our campus is active and energized 24/7 — though we do appreciate sleeping in on the weekends. Everyone on your floor will be like family, but if you want an even deeper connection, check out our living learning communities such as the Dorothy Day Social Justice Community.

RAYNOR MEMORIAL LIBRARIES With a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips, finding the information you’re looking for won’t be a problem. Narrowing it down, however, could be. Since it’s the hub for all undergraduate research, you’ll be spending a lot of time at Raynor. So start by researching which of our 15 study areas are most comfortable.
THE BREW AT THE BRIDGE literally links past and present by connecting the old library with the new library. It’s a popular place — especially during exam week.
FITNESS CENTERS Walk, run, swim, dance and stretch to meet your daily fitness goals at the Rec Plex or Helfaer Tennis Stadium and Recreation Center. Between the two facilities, you’ll have access to a weight room, a track, a pool, gyms, group fitness classes, racquetball and tennis courts, and more. Find your own fit family at one of more than 30 weekly group fitness classes including SPIN, ZUMBA, YOGA and BOOT CAMP.

TO THE GOOD STUFF. Marquette is a direct-entry institution, which means you apply and are admitted directly to one of our seven undergraduate colleges. This way, you can get immersed in your field right away. It doesn’t mean you have to know what you want to major in immediately, but you do have a head start in discovering that major. WHAT BRINGS A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GIRL TO MILWAUKEE? For Geraldyn, it’s the holistic student care, a strong AIR FORCE ROTC program, direct admission into the COLLEGE OF NURSING, and an adventure away from California. Geraldyn credits the Air Force ROTC for helping to develop her strong work ethic and to be a fearless leader, while the College of Nursing is pushing her outside her boundaries.
THE REASON “As a student striving to be a nurse officer in the Air Force, Marquette is a beautiful place to develop myself.”

And if you’re looking to test yourself even further, try adding one or more of these to your curriculum: ELITE ACADEMIC FOCUS In the University Honors Program, 350 of our sharpest students take some of our toughest classes and work with our finest professors. But despite its name, our University Honors Program isn’t about acclaim or prestige. It’s an intense challenge to think, feel and act differently in pursuit of being the difference. Research side by side with professors, attend interdisciplinary seminars and take specialized courses and independent studies. Your senior year will conclude with a capstone experience designed to put all of your knowledge and insight to work.
TRAINING TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY When you enter the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at Marquette, you’re entering one of the best-known programs in the country. And you’ll be in good company — we rank third among national universities for the percentage of students who serve in ROTC.
INTERNSHIP WITH THE LES ASPIN CENTER FOR GOVERNMENT Intern in the White House, the State Department, the FDA or any one of more than 100 congressional offices. Our Les Aspin Center programs are widely known as some of the best on Capitol Hill, and over 2,200 Marquette students have received premier internships through the center.
FIVE-YEAR ACCELERATED DEGREE PROGRAMS Some of our programs allow you to receive a bachelor’s and a master’s in just five years. Check with the college in your area of interest to see what programs are available.

A PLAN FOR
LIFE AFTER UNDERGRAD. When you’re ready to start the search for your first big job, our Career Services Center is here for you. Get help with everything from choosing a career to finding a job. Because many of our students are interested in pursuing a dental, law, medical or other professional degree, we also have a dedicated pre-professional office. Advisers here will guide you through site visits and entrance exam preparation, and help determine which professional school is best for you. The staff also offers a free recommendations service, meaning they’ll collect and send letters of praise on your behalf — earning the kudos, however, is up to you. CENTER FOR PRE-HEALTH ADVISING If an undergraduate degree is just the first stop on your way to a career as a dentist, doctor or physician assistant, you can work with an adviser here. Your adviser will help make sure you’re taking advantage of all the opportunities available to set you up for success in professional school. PRE-LAW SCHOLARS This option combines a Marquette undergrad degree with a Marquette law degree. You’ll complete both in six years, rather than the traditional seven.
EXTEND YOUR STAY. ADVANCE YOUR DEGREE. GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT Future business leaders can choose from eight master’s degree options including our nationally ranked Executive MBA, as well as several interdisciplinary programs. GRADUATE SCHOOL Study side by side with expert faculty, and put theory into practice in one of 70 doctoral and master’s degree programs and 21 graduate certificate programs. LAW SCHOOL Earn your law degree through our prestigious program, located just blocks from the county and federal courthouses, and learn how law can work for the good of all. SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY Study in state-of-the-art facilities and help meet our community’s dental needs while learning your trade at the only dental school in the state of Wisconsin.
PRE-DENTAL SCHOLARS Combine your undergrad education with a Marquette University School of Dentistry degree and complete both in seven years, rather than eight.

WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD?
START BY LETTING IT CHANGE YOU. Studying abroad can shape your life, and 25 percent of all Marquette undergrads take the opportunity to do it. We can help you cover it financially through your existing scholarships (they transfer to most programs) or through a study abroad-specific scholarship. And by getting your classes pre-approved, you’ll be able to stay on track to graduate on time. You can study abroad no matter your major, and for any length of time: an academic year, a semester, a short-term summer program, during spring break, or over J-session. Taking your Marquette experience global is definitely within reach, and our Office of International Education will help you through the entire process.
Not only will you learn and serve, but the international experience you’ll gain will give you an edge when it comes to competing in today’s job market.
Whether you’re witnessing the renewed spirit of Cape Town or sitting down for a home-cooked meal with your new family in Madrid, you’ll discover that our study abroad programs offer unique experiences beyond the classroom.

SERVICE:
OUR MOST VALUED TRADITION
The practice that defines us is an idea that’s way bigger than one single event or organization, and bigger than Marquette University itself. It’s service — and it’s huge here. The Marquette service tradition is central to our mission, integral to our personality and a key part of your transformational Marquette experience. SERVICE LEARNING Service learning is an academic program that blends community service with classroom theory. It’s what happens when we work with the community to do good for the community. Someone gets the help they need while you gain skills to enhance your future career — and the personal accomplishment that comes from making a difference.
That’s right, we’re cleaning up hunger — and increasing awareness, support and resources. HUNGER CLEAN-UP is our largest day of service. Nearly 1,800 individuals serve at 45–50 nonprofit work sites, such as food banks, homeless shelters and countless other organizations. 33
MAKE YOUR INTERESTS
EVEN MORE INTERESTING. No matter what you’re into, it’s likely there’s a group of people here who share your passions. Think there’s no way we could possibly have the things you like covered? We’ve got two words for you: Ukulele Club.

AN ARTS SCENE
YOU’LL HAVE TO SEE, HEAR AND FEEL TO BELIEVE.
Prepare to witness some current masters of their crafts. Around our campus, photographers, actors, writers, musicians, performers and poets (as well as those artists who can’t be labeled) are making a difference by making art. And the best part: You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate it. Just stop by one of our many venues dedicated to creativity.
HELFAER THEATRE
See performances by Marquette’s theatre majors that rival Broadway shows.
HAGGERTY MUSEUM OF ART
This is where creativity meets canvas (and paper, wood, plastic, cloth and metal). And thanks to regular lectures, workshops and performances, you can learn while you look.
VARSITY THEATRE
Complete with a 32-foot stage, chorus risers and house lighting and sound, the Varsity Theatre is where performers and musicians regularly raise goose bumps and bring crowds to their feet.

YOU’LL WANT TO STAY —
FOR FOUR YEARS. Marquette’s a special place. We hope that you’ll see what we mean and start picturing yourself making a life here. While on your tour, be sure to ask your tour guide a lot of questions. They’ll be sharing lots of personal Marquette experiences, but they’d love to tailor your tour to the things that most interest you. If you have additional questions that aren’t answered as part of your scheduled visit, an admissions counselor would be delighted to fill in the gaps.

APPLY
EXPLORE
TIMING
Marquette is the best of both worlds: an amazing residential campus experience with all the benefits of a major metropolitan area. Take some time to explore Milwaukee if you can, even if it’s just a quick drive through downtown. We love our city, and we’re eager to share it, so go ahead and ask us what to see and what to do.
We begin reviewing applications in September and send decisions out two to three weeks after the application is complete. Our recommended deadline is DECEMBER 1. Applying by this date will guarantee you a decision by the end of the year and the chance to be fully informed about special scholarships and spring visits.
WHAT TO SUBMIT In addition to your completed application, we’ll need your official high school transcript. Students have the choice to apply with or without an AC T or SAT. Learn more about Marquette’s test-optional policy along with a full academic profile at marquette.edu/explore.
PERSONAL REVIEW PROCESS When your application is reviewed, someone is actually reading it carefully. The work that you put in is noticed, so take the time to do it well. Your transcript is considered holistically. We look at the rigor of your curriculum, the trends in your grades, and any supplemental information you provide to give context. List your activities and describe them. We’re very active here at Marquette, and we value how active you’ve been as well.
SCHOLARSHIPS Explore scholarship opportunities at marquette.edu/scholarships. Most programs have an application deadline of January 15.
FINANCIAL AID Starting in October, you will be able to file the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. You should apply by FEBRUARY 1. Financial aid packages can be available as early as mid-November if you file early enough.
VISIT If you’re looking for something beyond the standard campus tour, we’ve got you covered. Try a shadow visit or department visit, attend a large open house or drop by a smaller, more focused event. Some events are focused on academics, while others highlight the social elements of the student experience. We also like to travel, so you’ll find us hosting receptions, presentations and individual meetings all over the country. Find a listing of all our on- and off-campus events at marquette.edu/explore.
CONTACT US If at any time you have questions throughout this process, feel free to reach out to us. We’re here to help!
