STUDENT LIFE AT MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY Ignite
Around every corner you’ll find a quick smile, a helping hand, and people ready to jump in and bring you into their circle of friends. Basically, you’ll be in the middle of 90-plus acres full of people who have a genuine interest in you.
Get ready for a warm welcome.
And it won’t take long for you to return the favor. In no time at all, you’ll be the one showing new students to class, proofreading English papers and delivering meals to those in need. You’ll know how comforting it feels to truly belong—and even more important— how nice it is to create that feeling for others.
Meet Marquette.
As a Catholic, Jesuit university, we are grounded in our mission and committed to Be The Difference. GOSPEL CHOIR
Live large.
At Marquette, you’ll learn more and achieve more than you thought you were capable of. But maybe even more important than that—you’re going to have the time of your life while you’re doing it.
Where you’ll stay
During your first two years here, you’ll call one of our nine residence halls home. Each hall has its own room style and unique history (case in point: The Beatles spent the night in Mashuda Hall back when it used to be a hotel). All of them have 24/7 security and tons of other students who’ll soon feel like family. And in your third and fourth years, you’ll find plenty of nearby housing to pick from.
Where you’ll eat
Our three traditional dining halls serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites—including lots of options if you’re gf, df, vegetarian or have other dietary needs. And use your Dining Dollars included in your meal plan to stop by one of our 14 destination dining locations on campus, like Einstein Bros. Bagels or the Taqueria.

Live well.
We have a culture of holistic wellness at Marquette and take the time to make sure everyone is supported not only as a student but also as an individual. In fact, caring for the whole person—body, mind and spirit—has been our approach from our founding. We call it cura personalis, and it’s a strong part of our Jesuit tradition. Our environment reflects that—from how your professors treat you to how we meet your wellness and health needs.
ST. JOAN OF ARC CHAPEL
Gather here with dozens of other students every Tuesday at 10 p.m. for our most popular Mass. This chapel dates from 15th-century Europe. Legend has it that St. Joan of Arc herself touched one of the stones and to this day it remains cooler than the surrounding stones.
Open to all.
Being a Catholic, Jesuit institution means promoting a faith that works for justice, living as an active part of the world and promoting respect for all people. Here, you’ll explore and define guiding principles for yourself that will inspire you to go out and Be The Difference.
Quiet and comfort
Our campus has 18 sacred spaces open to all faith backgrounds, including the Islamic Prayer Room, Center for Jewish Life and the Interfaith Meditation and Prayer Space.
AMDG
Ad majorem Dei gloriam is the Jesuits’ motto, and it means everything we do is for the greater glory of God.
Course credit that helps others
In service to the world.
We believe that giving back offers us strength. In fact, part of our mission is a commitment to lead by serving. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to do that here in Milwaukee, and plenty of people who’ll come alongside you.
Combine community service and classroom theory with a semester of service learning. You gain hands-on skills, an organization gets valuable help, and you work together to make a difference for the community.
