INTERNSHIP AT ELEMENTAL

On February, I decided to apply on Elemental’s webpage trying to be part of the team for 4 months and finally I am currently having the pleasure of interning at this amazing office. Firstly, I had never imagined that I could work with an architect like Alejandro Aravena, winner of the Pritzker Prize in 2016, and be a part of an office which is constantly searching for answers to relevant urban issues that can contribute to common good. Moreover, I am excited to be involved in a huge project like EDP Office Building that will be located in Lisbon, Portugal. In my opinion, this building will be a good example of what concerns to Elemental: sustainable efficiency, humanistic functionalism, public spaces... So, I am feeling lucky to participate in both stages, schematic design and design development of this amazing project. These months I have been performing design and production of documents as presentation slides and specially(full of) final images. In addition, I have been checking the drawings according to technical requirements and working on construction documents because also I have been the responsible of the coordination with the Portuguese engineers’ team. *All the images at these pages are totally made by me and they belong to Elemental.
INTERNSHIP AT BEALS-LYON ARCHITECTS

While I was studying at the University of Chile I decided to take advantage of the whole experience, so I combined my studies with an exciting internship. I did a research on the best architecture offices in Santiago, and Ended up working from the 1st of march to the 26th of June with Alejandro Beals and Loreto Lyon, developing three projects related to different scales: the master plan for a university campus; a small music pavilion for a family and a big private house located in the South of Chile. At this internship I built models in Rhinoceros and, as a result, I developed renders in Vray and also I made the Photoshop final work to achieve good results. Moreover, I was working in Autocad to design the music pavilion and I optimized the volume of concrete used for the private house foundations using Rhinoceros.

Este proyecto forma parte de una investigación llevada a cabo en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid por un grupo de alumnos seleccionados por el Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos y dirigida por los profesores Federico Soriano, Pedro Urzaiz, Álvaro Soto, Borja Lomas y Pedro Pitarch. La investigación llevada a cabo durante el primer semestre del año 2016 ha estudiado las posibilidades de cambio y mejora material y espacial de la Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo que cada año tiene lugar en IFEMA, Madrid. Para ello se analizó durante la celebración de la feria la situación de la misma, flujos de compra y venta, circulaciones y situaciones para más adelante trabajar en la elaboración de una serie de propuestas abiertas y cruzadas que permiten pensar en otras posibilidades alternativas a la experiencia expositiva actual que viene repitiéndose cada año sin prácticamente modificaciones. , con el propósito de producir lecturas diferentes que contemplen la diversidad de usuarios, galerías y visitantes. La presentación del libro tuvo lugar en la Sala de Presentaciones del Auditorio del COAM (Colegio de Arquitectos de Madrid) el día 17 de octubre de 2016.

Esta vivienda será construida en la Villa Solar localizada en el Parque O’ Higgins en mayo 2017. Se plantea la vivienda como una tipología replicable a lo largo del país, conformada por elementos constantes y variables, siendo la estructura lo permanente y la envolvente lo variable, pudiendo adaptarse a distintos entornos y otorgando identidad a la vivienda. La Casa Cebolla se caracteriza por un sumatorio de capas, tanto espaciales como funcionales, que otorgan características de sustentabilidad y confort ambiental a la vivienda. La concentración de un núcleo húmedo que funciona como motor de la casa, tanto por la entrada de luz y electricidad como por la renovación del aire, articula a una planta libre permeable ante distintas actividades y habitantes de la casa.
