un poema es una ciudad llena de calles y cloacas, llena de santos, héroes, pordioseros, locos, llena de banalidad y embriaguez, llena de lluvia y truenos y periodos de ahogo, un poema es una ciudad en guerra, un poema es una ciudad preguntando por qué a un reloj, un poema es una ciudad ardiendo, un poema es una ciudad bajo las armas sus barberías llenas de borrachos cínicos, un poema es una ciudad donde Dios cabalga desnudo por las calles como Lady Godiva, donde los perros ladran en la noche y persiguen la bandera; un poema es una ciudad de poetas, muchos de ellos muy similares y envidiosos y amargados... un poema es esta ciudad ahora, a 50 millas de ninguna parte a las 9:09 de la mañana, el sabor a licor y cigarrillos, sin policía, sin amantes, caminando en las calles, este poema, esta ciudad, cerrando sus puertas, fortificada, casi vacía, enlutada sin lágrimas, envejecida sin pena, las montañas rocosas, el océano como una llama de lavanda, una luna carente de grandeza, una leve música de ventanas rotas... un poema es una ciudad, un poema es una nación, un poema es el mundo... y ahora pongo esto bajo el cristal para el loco escrutinio del editor y la noche está en cualquier lado y lánguidas damas grises se alinean el perro sigue al perrro al estuario las trompetas anuncian los patíbulos mientras los hombrecillos deliran sobre cosas que no pueden hacer.
a poem is a city filled with streets and sewers filled with saints, heroes, beggars, madmen, filled with banality and booze, filled with rain and thunder and periods of drought, a poem is a city at war, a poem is a city asking a clock why, a poem is a city burning, a poem is a city under guns its barbershops filled with cynical drunks, a poem is a city where God rides naked through the streets like Lady Godiva, where dogs bark at night, and chase away the flag; a poem is a city of poets, most of them quite similar and envious and bitter... a poem is this city now, 50 miles from nowhere, 9:09 in the morning, the taste of liquor and cigarettes, no police, no lovers, walking the streets, this poem, this city, closing its doors, barricaded, almost empty, mournful without tears, aging without pity, the hardrock mountains, the ocean like a lavender flame, a moon destitute of greatness, a small music from broken windows... a poem is a city, a poem is a nation, a poem is the world... and now I stick this under glass for the mad editor’s scrutiny, the night is elsewhere and faint gray ladies stand in line, dog follows dog to estuary, the trumpets bring on gallows as small men rant at things they cannot do.

4 Hacia la recuperaciรณn de la ciudad. La Ciudad Universitaria Through city restoration. Ciudad Universitaria
Apart from the residential districts, the participants chose for their itineraries the downtown area and the university campus. The results of the itinerary in Ciudad Universitaria (Campus Complutense University) were highly surprising because they touched somehow a series of problems that, exposed together, constructed a new perception about the place. During the subsequent debate, the group (university students aged 20-21) claim not to feel this space as their own. They perceive the campus is a lifeless, sterile space where they come to study and then, take the subway, as fast as possible, to get away: It is not a place where you feel comfortable. In the spaces between faculties, there is nothing, nothing happens. The faculties are isolated, enclosed in themselves. During the debate, some young people express the idea that the result of this organization of the space was that contacts have been weakened, gatherings and also protests have been reduced. The university has lost voice and weight, it is no longer in the forefront of the great movements. Added to these problems is the fact that students do not feel safe in the campus. At night, there are spaces without lighting; no buses and in time of exams, they have to walk large distances from the library to the metro station. By day and night, the green areas hide scenes like the one described by the participants in the itinerary: ... to encounter a tree where a man has all his belongings, is that probably no one has ever noticed his presence, and no one has ever considered the denigrating of that situation and, therefore, no one have sought a solution either.

Me hace mucha ilusión invitarte a la que también es tu fiesta. Tenemos muchas cosas que celebrar: las ciudades están cambiando, eso está pasando porque las personas hemos empezado a entender que nuestra vida es un poquito mejor cuando la compartimos y promovemos lugares más habitables y libres. Todas nuestras experiencias vitales suceden referenciadas al espacio (y al tiempo); eso se merece nuestro cuidado y una celebración por todo lo alto. Madrid empieza a promover urbanismos de proximidad, sin embargo parece que algo le falta a la Ciudad Universitaria. ¿Qué mejor manera que actuar y poner nuestro granito de arena? Hoy viernes 2 de junio estás invitado a participar en la creación de un lugar para el disfrute de todos que promueva el intercambio y el aprendizaje y sirva de incubadora ciudadana y social.

We have many things to celebrate: cities are changing, that is happening because people have begun to understand that our life is much better when we share and promote more livable and free urban spaces. All our vital experiences are referenced to a place (and time lapse); that is the reason to take care of it and celebrate. Madrid begins to promote urbanities of proximity, however it seems that something is missing in Ciudad Universitaria. What if we try to improve this situation? Today, Friday 2nd June, you are invited to participate in the co-design of a place dedicated to everyone enjoyment that promotes the exchange and learning and become a citizen and social incubator.
