Don’t miss ‘the most popular Scottish novel of all time’on stage
SUNSET SONG
By Lewis Grassic Gibbon Adapted by Alastair Cording Sunset Song follows the life of Chris Guthrie from her teenage years on a small farm and explores her relationships with her brother and their domineering father. After the death of her parents, the story examines her relationship with her first love and others following his death. The novel conjures up the feel of life in the Mearns with the sights, sounds and language of the area. It gives a wonderful feeling of rural life in Scotland and of the impact of the First World War on the young men who went to the war and on the families left behind.

THE ALUMINUM SHOW ‘Amazing’, ‘fascinating’ and ‘incredible’ are just some of the ways critics have tried to describe The Aluminum Show. Others have made comparisons with Blue Man Group and Stomp. See for yourself when, after touring the world since 2003, it arrives at His Majesty’s Theatre following its UK debut at the Edinburgh Fringe. Devised by Artistic Director Ilan Azriel, a former dancer in Tel Aviv’s Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, who let his imagination run riot on the theme of aluminium in all its various industrial forms, a skilful cast of athletic dancers create a joyous fantasy of movement, physical theatre, puppetry and special effects. Humorous, surreal and uplifting, all ages will be enthralled and delighted by this spectacular show. ‘Beautiful and captivating’ Ballettanz Magazine, Berlin

Thrilling dance by way of Radiohead’s music, film techniques and the sophisticated frivolity of the 1930s
Friday 10 & Saturday 11 October 7.30pm
SCOTTISH BALLET –AUTUMN SEASON Ground breaking American choreographer Stephen Petronio created Ride the Beast for Scottish Ballet. Premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival, this unique piece is a celebration of pure energy and features five emblematic Radiohead tracks. From Trisha Brown comes the hauntingly poetic For MG: The Movie. Intrigued by the work of film directors who seamlessly move their characters in and out of frame, Brown reinterprets this in a fascinating piece set to a specially commissioned soundscape by maverick composer Alvin Curran. Scottish Ballet’s Artistic Director Ashley Page unveils a brand new work: Pennies from Heaven, a playful interpretation of the atmosphere and bittersweet lyrics of songs form the 1930s with glamorous, period designs by award winning designer Antony McDonald (The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella).

AN IDEAL HUSBAND
Sir Peter Hall’s highly acclaimed West End and Broadway production of Oscar Wilde’s AN IDEAL HUSBAND returns to the stage. Into the fashionable world of London parties, politics and diplomacy comes the worldly and devious Mrs Cheveley. She attempts to blackmail the British Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Sir Robert Chiltern, who she accuses of building a career on dishonour by selling a cabinet secret. The glamorous Kate O’Mara, star of such TV hits as Dynasty and Bad Girls returns to the role of Mrs Cheveley. Kate is joined by Dynasty co-star and veteran of the television classic Michael Praed. Carol Royle has starred in numerous popular TV series including, Heartbeat, Crossroads and most recently Doctors. Alongside them are Robert Duncan, best known as Gus from the Channel Four cult comedy hit Drop the Dead Donkey, Fenella Fielding best known for her roles in the Carry On and Doctor films, and finally renowned actor of stage and screen Tony Britton whose TV hits include Don’t Wait Up and Robin’s Nest. Written with the wit and style expected of Wilde, the political intrigue amongst society’s highest ranking figures gives us one of the most entertaining plays in the English language.

First presented by Opéra National du Rhin Sung in Italian with English Supertitles David McVicar directs this production, initially created for Strasbourg’s Opéra National du Rhin. Loosely translating as ‘Women are like that’, Così fan tutte is one of Mozart’s most famous collaborations with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte. An amusing story of pretence, seduction, disguises, flirtation and the ‘fickle’ nature of the female sex, this beautifully delivered opera has a score filled with impeccable richness and variety. Tobias Ringborg, Joel Prieto and Ville Rusanen make their UK opera débuts, with Violet Noorduyn, Caitlin Hulcup and Peter Savidge returning. Scottish soprano Marie McLaughlin reprises the role she played in the original production.

Peter, Tilly and Garth take advantage of our star treatment! Peter Culter, Tilly Drone and Garth Dee couldn’t wait to book the best seats for all the new shows. Armed with the latest brochure Peter, a busy company executive, used his spare time at the airport to book online using the exclusive website. Tilly really enjoyed chatting about the new shows to the customer service staff. So she got the kids off to school and then started dialling the box office booking line. Luckily she was first in the queue when the priority booking period opened and she got great advice, excellent service and the seats she wanted. Garth worked in the city centre so he decided to pop into the box office over his lunch hour. He took a sandwich to eat in case there was a queue! But to his delight his tickets were booked and paid for within minutes!

THE PATSY CLINE SHOW
THE HOLLIES
According to the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, The Hollies had more hit records than The Beatles. The Hollies have been responsible for a remarkably varied and intriguing catalogue of music. Wistful vocal harmonies or sheer raw musical power - each song is showcased by its own brilliant lightshow.
Devised and produced by Sandy Kelly, and starring one of Ireland’s best loved singers Barbara Ellis, the show traces the musical history of one of the “all time great” female artists. Timeless songs like Crazy, Walking after Midnight and Your Cheating Heart coupled with a voice of pure feeling and quality has made Patsy Cline the icon she is today. This is definitely a show not to be missed.
