A Quick Guide for Guys: How to Dress for Prom? Prom season is one of the most exciting times of the year for high school students. Choosing what to wear to the big dance is important as well as intimidating. Though formal dress for guys is not complicated, still you may be wondering about the options. A suit? A tuxedo? You can start with a little homework. Research online or TV and look for your favorite male celebrities who have been to the prom lately. Save photos for your references. It will help you figure out your options. Here are some tips for guys to dress for prom.

Keep your signature look intact Just because you are required to wear a suit doesn’t mean you should omit your personal sense of style. You can always give a personal touch to your outfit, for example, printed shirts, quirky color choices, skinny pants, etc. It will keep your signature look undisturbed. Pay attention to smaller details, like jacket length, button styling, overall color, bow, tie, etc. They all contribute to your overall look. For example, you can put on LED light up jacket instead of a classy black tuxedo to turn everyone’s head; or try colorful printed shirt instead of white.

Coordinate with your date Before you consider your options, check with your date about the color and type of her dress. You can also ask her preferences. Try to keep your outfit coordinated with your dates. It doesn’t mean matching and mixing. It will make both of you look tacky. Just make sure that your dresses are complementing each other. Corsage and boutonniere are the most coordinating details.

Don’t shy away from being trendy It is not always necessary to put on trendy look from head to toe; you can add trendy accessories to look amazing. For example, you can try funky cufflinks or a nontraditional bow tie. To add a classy touch, you can try a cummerbund. Also, you can think about a pocket square. These details are often forgotten, but they add the right finishing touch to your formal look.

Things you must not forget Even the smallest of details matter. Things, like your hair, cologne or accessories matter and they can either make or break your entire appearance. Get a haircut or trim about a week before the prom. Put on a watch and try a light splash of cologne. Once you have done all the steps, mentioned above; you are ready to rock your prom party.
