GEORGETOWN BOATHOUSE This fourth year project was to design a new boathouse for the historic Thompson Boat center. The challenge of the project is to achieve attractive boathouse without interfering with the flow of the Georgetown waterfront. For this reason the key objective was to propose a simple building, which serves and build upon the existing program of the boathouse and a green roof that serves as a bridge that connects the Georgetown waterfront to Rock creek waterfront. A glass system with a captivating green roof structure, hiding all the technical amenities and embracing the new bridge. The roof itself becomes structure a bridge where it can be a great support for community gathering. On the front side of the Boathouse it becomes viewing deck for the sporting events on the Potomac River. The choice of the materials of the project is due to the willing of having a light and elegant building, but solid and with less need of maintenance.

City Waterfront Connection The site of the proposed Boathouse in Georgetown which lies east of the Georgetown Waterfront Park and extends eastward into the Rock Creek Park. Lower Georgetown Harbor represents the Potomac gateway into the city. The task in this assignment is to design a new Rowing Club 'Boathouse' Situated on Georgetown waterfront. Because of the setting of the site needing to be an Unzone section of the city with its connection to park services. The challenge of this project lies with portraying the use of the building in such a way it lures people into the Location and continues the flow of the waterfront experience. Careful consideration was taken in carrying out the appropriate approaches with regards to sustainable technology to reflect the use of the building, the character and feel of the immediate environment.

WESTPORT WATER FRONT The Westport Waterfront is a long half-mile long waterfront faceing the baltimore Inner Harbor. The Masterproject was to delvelope and incredible setting for residents, businesses and visitors to the Baltimore downtown area. As a true mixed-use center, Westport Waterfront would accomadate a unique opportunity to live work and play in one neighborhood with incredible access to downtown and regional destinations via light rail, bike or car. The masterplan of the site contains over one thousand residential units, Fifty three levels of office space and thirteen acres of park land.

The Westport Waterfront’s mix of shops, restaurants, hotels, offices, apartements, condominiums and townhomes benefit from incredible existing assets: a Light Rail stop with quick access to BWI Airport, Camden Station and downtown, more than 30 acres of parks, creates a walkable and bikeable community at the forefront of sustainable design. After finishing the design of the masterplan the objective of the studio was to take a building from its mass form to a more functional system within the master site. The journey gave me the knowledge to work within the context of masterplan and develope answers for a community social and economic problems.

ATHENATION OF 2050 Third year studio was apart of an Architectural competition presented by the Atheneaum of Philadelphia. The main concept of the studio is to develope an understanding for the design process, covering Schematic Design, Design Development and Documentation/Board Presentation. The concept for the Athenaeum of 2050 boasts a glass, steel, and stone façade that highlights an interactive gallery to draw in the public into the architecture collections. Inspired by Foster’s, The Athenaeum: The Ultimate Library, the redesign incorporates an expansive hall that spans floor to ceiling, displaying a rare collection of books. The open gallery integrates the inside and outside, so that visitors easily connect with the function of the Athenaeum. The design makes the Athenaeum a cornerstone of the historic district, where the open face gives the public a glimpse into its vast collections and history.

9TH STREET GARDEN Second year studio was to design a cafe/urban garden into the fabric of 9th street. There an existing void on the 9th street elevation, the task was to use the context of the existing fabric layered within the city to aid in the repair of this void. This is a follow-up from an earlier Mondrian study done earlier in the semester.

DC BRAU Second Years Studio was a proposal to design a Brew House, located in the intersection of Bladensburg and Fort Lincoln. The theme of the studio was to study the process of the creation. Understanding the process by witch brew is created. The process is then used to create a more functional facility that response to the specific needs of the occupancies. In the design the building features streamlined massing tailored to fit the program and culminating at the central access. Stained concrete siding complimented with red cedar accents reflects the industrial character of the neighborhood. The design concept, based on transparency throughout, was developed to put the brewing process on display to ensure the patron is immersed in the brewery experience from multiple touch points within the building.

weather can be unpredictable and varies from year to year. Fortunately, the nastiest weather in the Washington, DC area is usually fairly short in duration. In the winter, the Washington, DC area gets an occasional snowstorm. The temperatures often fluctuate above freezing in the winter so we can get lots of rain or freezing rain during the colder months. Springtime is beautiful when the flowers blossom. The weather is wonderful in the spring and this is the busiest time of year for the tourist attractions. During the summer months, Washington, DC can get hot, humid and uncomfortable. Late July and most of August are a good time to stay indoors in the air conditioning. During fall, the vibrant colors of the foliage and the cool temperatures make this a great time to enjoy outdoor recreation.

SUSTAINABLE HOUSE The project originates from a student competition for a sustainable house. the focus for the project was to forge a relationship between the suburban and natural context and create a balance and compatibility between sustainable exciting design and everyday living.

Second Plan

A key aspect to creating balance spaces is to maintain a level of comfort while not imposing on nature. Spaces like the zen garden, which engage nature with interior spaces and generate feelings of peace and tranquility through an otherwise Ground Plan

ordinary transition space.

VACATION HOUSE Vacation house is a simple two story, wood structure, residential project. To fully understand the design to construction process, drawing were developed for the floor plans, cross sections, elevations, wall sections and structural framing diagrams. A 1/4 inch scale model was built to develop an understand of architectural detail.

Le Corbusier defined architecture as “the masterly, correct, and magnificent play of masses brought together in light. In his statement, there is an emphasis on massing as if it were the very essence of architecture.

MONDRIAN STUDY What is meant by balance or equilibrium in Mondrian’s paintings? The classic works of Piet Mondrian are widely celebrated for their dynamic equilibrium. In what follows I attempt an analysis which is not meant to be more than a rough study of the mondrian system.
